RE: empty ride with airbags

I have the air lift and the 5 psi min does not affect the ride quality. The minimum is there so they stay puffed up. If you don't keep some air in there they'll crumple up and destroy themselves.

RE: I-10 West from Mobile

Still pretty rough in Louisiana. Plan your timing around when you hit Baton Rouge, rush hour is BAD. Edit to add there's lots of construction on 12 between Slidell and Baton Rouge so there's likley lane closures at night after 10PM

RE: How close to your vehicles "tow rating" are you?

I'm way over on my Silverado 1500. I don't however have the actual scale weights.

RE: Talladega Race Track

Looking forward to the trip, this will be our 10th year at the fall race:) We get there on Wednesday and leave on Monday. We're in the infield on Talladega Blvd. Ice water and sewage pump are available for a fee. No gasoline. The ice bags got smaller last year, seems like they were $5 or $7 for an 8 lb bag (supply and demand at work there)

RE: How did you mod your TT to tow a boat etc.. behind it?

I see so far the way is to have an all new receiver built, was thinking this as well. I wonder if a piece of flat steel 1/8 or 3/16 thick should be welded to the outside of the frame rail extending a good 3.5 to 4 foot forward before welding on a receiver. I wonder how many of these are out there. Jeff That one would've worked on my trailer frame. Building it myself was much cheaper for me though. I considered the flat steel in the web but chose to run 2 crossmembers as opposed to one crossmember and flat plate in the web.

RE: How did you mod your TT to tow a boat etc.. behind it?

I made my hitch from 2" x 2" x 3/16" mild steel tubing but my trailer is neither a lightweight nor does it have an enclosed underbelly. I welded two pieces of the 2x2 across the back of the frame connecting the two frame rails and then welded a receiver tube I bought at Tractor Supply into the middle.

RE: OnStar usage

I keep the basic service on my wife's car and daughter's car for emergency response but the door unlock has come in handy for both of them.

RE: my 7pin connector won't charge TT battery or power bumpout

You have to install the fuse under the hood as already mentioned to get power back to the 7 pin. Had to do the same on my Chevy

RE: Help, Rough Ride

Air Lift bags improved the ride of my Chevy 1500 considerably when towing

RE: adding bags

I have the air lift bags and they work great to level out the ride. They have a 5 psi min and with 5 psi you can't even tell they are there. The 5 psi keeps them puffed up a little so they don't krinkle up and wear a hole at the end of a krinkle from suspension movement.

RE: Electric Cooling Fan?

I'm of the opinion that an engine driven fan that is operating properly is better than an electric fan. It will move more air. If the rising temps is a new development then I believe it's a symptom of a deeper problem. It may be as simple as the fan clutch is letting go or your radiator and AC coil are simply dirty and cannot flow enough air. It could also mean you have corrosion or some other coolant flow restriction. What kind of shape is the fan shroud in? An engine driven fan needs a good shroud to work properly.

RE: 67 ft. triple tow

Luckily, no...... I don't cross any state lines and am within 150 miles of home when I have the boat behind the TT.

RE: What type insurance proof needed to renew TX tt tags?

No proof of TT insurance was asked of me. On a side note, I have registered three motor vehicles in the past year. For the first time ever the clerk asked for the color of each vehicle. Huh? When I registered the TT they asked the same thing. I replied WHITE and she completed the process. :h The color thing is new, just big brother building a database on us.......

RE: What type insurance proof needed to renew TX tt tags?

It's much easier to renew online http://www.texas.gov/en/Pages/default.aspx just click on the renew vehicle registration on the left hand side. If you still want to mail it in you can certainly send in the declarations page just to be sure.

RE: Triple Towing

I've been towing my boat behind my travel trailer for years without issue. Use a good hitch, not one that clamps to the back bumper. Properly set up it's not all that difficult. Takes a bit of planning as you aren't going to back it up far without unhitching the second trailer, especially a short tongue ATV trailer.
