RE: Recommendation for RV Park in Moab Utah

DW and I have stayed at Archview twice, several years apart and were pleased both times. The staff were very helpful and there is a view from the upper area overlooking Arches National Park. It is a few miles north of Moab and close to Arches, Canyonlands NP, and Dead Horse Point SP. Happy Camping :)

RE: Gulf Shores State Park

We were there in April, 2010. We really like this park but during the summer, it can be iffy getting a spot. Best to reserve early. Here looking back from site 493: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Ne3mtzFGKck/T48HAYjJ3GI/AAAAAAAAEws/VjzN9FQ_Rc8/s800/P5221419.JPG height=640 width=480 At the end of the road ( ahead) is a small bridge to the road leading to the beach. We found these ready for the picking!! https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-mYhncDOh1KU/T48G80TWMWI/AAAAAAAAEwc/oVW6b_yd_Kk/s800/P5221412.JPG height=640 width=480 Which lead to the best part of all..:B https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-oj_SeFVKLvM/T48HF8d40KI/AAAAAAAAExE/d70JgahFK-s/s800/P5251451.JPG height=640 width=480

RE: Ever been there? NP's in Utah..

DW and I went through Monument valley up to Moab UT a number of years ago. We too I-40 to Flagstaff, north on Highway 89 to highway 160. Then north on highway 163 into Monument valley staying at Gouldings. The town of Kayenta is small but there are several worthwhile sights around there. There is a Navajo codetalker exhibit in the local McDonalds ( I wish it had it's own building) that is interesting. A real contribution to WWII. Near Mexican Hat, make sure you visit Goosnecks SP. We missed it on our visit there.....a reason to go back !! In Moab, we stayed at Archview park. It's private and the folks there were very friendly and helpful. We used that campground as a base from which to visit all the mnational and state parks close by. We even rented a jeep for some off road adventures!! Great time and want to go back. Have a fine trip :B

RE: LA, MS, AL, GA in March

Roosevelt State Park is just east of Jackson Mississippi, about 1 mile off of I-20, and has many miles of trails. If you need a place just to replenish supplies, LeFleurs Bluff State Park is located within the city limits of Jackson Mississippi but it feels like your in the country. There are hiking trails and museums. From I-20, take I-55 north for about 4 miles. Cheaha State Park outside of Gadsden Alabama is one of my favorite.

RE: Colorado?

As well as other sites mentioned here, include southern Colorado on your list of thigs to do. Great Sand Dunes National Park, San Luis is the oldest town in Colorado...small and not much there but it is a pretty town. Antonito Colorado - Cumbres and Toltec Railroad. It travels between Antonito and Chama NM. Rio Grande National Forest - San Juan National Forest Pagosa Springs - Hot Springs - Hot Air Balloons Durango - Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Just to name a few places in Southern Colorado :)

RE: I need the RV communities help!

As a former Navy member, I agree the need for training is essential for the military. I will suggest that a more suitable location be proposed. I would offer a 5 mile wide strip of land following the US/Mexico border from San Diego California to South Padre Island Texas. I know this will never happen......but it's a thought!!!

RE: Bundle of wires

As a thought, do the other end of the wires go to a fuse panel?? It is strange that a bundle would be just sitting on the cowling but if you can somehow trace the source, it might give a clue. ( assuming you have not already done so :h )

Shocks

I knew my shocks were worn but I never dreamed that the Koni FSD shocks would make that big a difference. I was wrong. It was like driving a different coach. I took it on a test drive over the weekend on some roads I knew had humps to see if the porposing had improved any. I giggled like a teenager :B :B :B I had read several posts from folks who had used the Koni shocks and never read a bad comment. I am really impressed. It took me a little less than 30 minutes to change the front shocks. If I did not have an air impact gun I don't think I could have done it. All I can say is "GREAT SHOCKS" :C

RE: HDMI to Rear TV

Great job! Looks really clean. Thanks, I appreciate it:D TechWriter: Thanks for the info but the wireless is point-to-point and I wanted the ability to switch between 2 devices with room to expand. I have that with the wired splitters and switcher. I will keep the wireless in mind, though, as I might need that in the house soon. Thanks again!!

Shore Power Failure

Last time we went camping I plugged the shore power into the pedistal but no power. My inverter showed a fault but the fridge showed A/C available. I checked the outlets with my meter and found 27 volts.....not good. The pedistal was fine which meant I had a problem. After checking various items I opened up the junction box where the shore power cable connected into the coach wiring and found this: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-evlUyd6S9Ac/UEtme48dAKI/AAAAAAAAFRI/h2oWp2OFyFc/s640/2012-09-08%252015%253A37%253A08%2520%252B0000.jpg height=640 width=480 I guess the connection was not very good which caused a high resistance and melted the wires. I'm just glad it was the neutral side instead of the hot. There was enough good wire left to make solid repairs. I have checked it since then and sofar, all is well. It was very scarey to think what could have happened.

HDMI to Rear TV

After much contemplation, I finally found a way to get HD video to my rear TV. I had already replaced the DVD player with a Blu-Ray and have HD satellite but no way to view any of it in the BR. I purchased two HDMI splitters and one HDMI switcher. The splitters take inputs from each device, one output to my front TV, one to the switcher. The output from the switcher feeds the rear. I ran the cable through the A/C duct to the rear. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-Z5W-8l6AE9U/UGObwOrC09I/AAAAAAAAFSM/gA2sgTRJL6M/s640/2012-09-27%252000%253A18%253A59%2520%252B0000.jpg height=640 width=480 Then bored a hole between the duct and the space underneath the light fixture. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-hx5-gihYkoM/UGOZkVl7b1I/AAAAAAAAFRU/on11O-R39qs/s640/2012-09-27%252000%253A09%253A39%2520%252B0000.jpg height=640 width=480 I had to remove the power cable in order to run the HDMI cable by pulling the power back into the distribution space along with pull cords. The pull cords helped get everything back in place. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-tCsg3K_Z8tY/UGOap5_tfmI/AAAAAAAAFRw/NMCHFFzZ3ZI/s640/2012-09-27%252000%253A14%253A08%2520%252B0000.jpg height=640 width=480 Here is the light power and HDMI cables feeding into the distribution area. The rear TV is mounted to the right of this. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-gMjSlc1or8I/UGObDsZ8nbI/AAAAAAAAFR8/MM-YOeR46-w/s640/2012-09-27%252000%253A15%253A38%2520%252B0000.jpg height=640 width=480 Now both TV's can now be fed independantly. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-cNaBXO9gSbw/UGOcNenS80I/AAAAAAAAFSY/sv6hGc5Zmsc/s640/2012-09-27%252000%253A20%253A20%2520%252B0000.jpg height=640 width=480

RE: ~Post your campsite photos here~

Nice looking site and rig SS573. Seeing those pictures reminded me of how sandy it gets down there and how nothing grows under the canopy of live oaks and pines. Long time ago memories. Thanks Thanks for the kind words. That was our first visit there but will most likely not be our last. On our last day there, I noticed something I had not seen before. One of the trees had been the target of an artist!! https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-cRPdZ2foGp0/UEta6FhqLjI/AAAAAAAAFOE/EeLt9qRAxOc/s912/P9023429.JPG height=640 width=480 Maybe it was a good luck totem :E See ya down the road !!!

RE: Labor Day plans blown away

rubenray, we like Gulf State Park also but we were goung to Grand Gulf State park south of Vicksburg Ms. Right in the path of the storm. We like that park as well {Grand Gulf}. Stayed in the upper sites last time which is well outside the flood plain but would not want to be there during the T/S. We leave Thursday for Tishomingo SP which I hope puts the storm north of us. Maybe the wind won't be too bad :? Good luck to you and yours.....stay safe !!

RE: Vicksburg and New Orleans

The military park is a must see when traveling to Vicksburg. In the city is the Biedenharn museum which is interesting. There are several casinos if you like those. Quite a few really nice Antebellum homes that give tours, Like Cedar Grove. Enjoy your trip !!
