RE: Generator on new Keystone energy

When I did my walkthrough I fired the genny up, first thing and turned on all electrical stuff, A/C and everything and left everything running while I finished the inspection. If the dealer gave you the, well, theres only a bit of gas in it, you should of just walked away and tell them to call you when they are ready to show you the unit properly. And, as for, they all do that new! Wow!

RE: Onan 5500 power increase!

I didn't think they made tailppe covers that small, but then again, Autozone probably sells em inthe neon light section.

RE: Generator on new Keystone energy

I would check some of the stuff posted above, fuel level, well it ran, you put more fuel in, should rule that out, gas camp not venting, possible, but should run longer then 30 seconds IMO, kinked fuel line, highly probable, check from tank to gen, kinda hard, but very possible. Another qquestion, is the genny throwing any codes? With the unit running, right before it stops, the start switch will have a light on it, if it throws a code, this will flash multiple times and durations, indicating a fault, which can be decifered into a code. I have a hard time believing a new unit needs a filter or plugs. Also, check on the carb, there should be a elevation knob, make sure its set appropriately, think they are marked from 0-5000-10000 foot elevation, if its maxed out, this could hidder running, if you are close to sea level.

RE: TH Recomendations

Seems like the Rampages/Freestyles are well built and they ahve 5'rs in the 28-33 foot range with decent storage.

RE: removable 5th wheel hitch

don't think you can gp wrong with any of them really, just look for the ones that when removed leave your bed flush and flat. I have the Superglide since I have a standard box bed and the rails fully remove, leaving four small 1.5" holes.

RE: New ToyHauler

but the quads as far forward as possible, over the tires preferably, that would be the best spot.

RE: New ToyHauler

check to make sure that all the trailer tires are the same size also, and that it rides level when hooked up to the truck. Running lighter will give you more sway then normal, plus driving faster too, especailly when light. Might need to and another quad or two to the weight. :-)

RE: Question on 5er's

you'd be suprised how much twisting you can do before making contact. I've done quite a bit with mine and never made contact yet, and the shorter your trailer the better. If you post a pic of the area your talking about, you might be able to get better, more accurate responses. Another option is a flatbed bed, then you can twist all you want.

RE: California state parks possible closing

it looks like none of the OHV parks are on the list, guess us off roaders are doing our part in supplying funds. Guess the greenies will probably want to take our funds to keep their parks open, Stand By.

RE: Freeway or open road speeds while towing

try to stay at 62, but with the 285 tires the sweet spot is 67. In town/city 55-60.

RE: Cable for locking up toys

I use a 15' 3/8 cable, put it through one quad, back through itself and then through the others, then lock the end with a padlock to the cable again, that way 15' feet will easily lock up 4 quads.

RE: Really stupid Question

If you used a pressure regulator, make sure it works, I've had some fail in the past, not letting water out. Also, check under your sink, you might have a 3 way valve preventing flow. My FR 5'r doesn't, but its an 07.

RE: Superglide hitch failure

I painted a line on the locking ring to visually confirm that it did wrap completely around the pin, snip.... That is a good idea. The yellow paint pen would work great and is easy. Going to do this tonight .... Really believe you should rethink the heavy grease on way tubes in your environment. Slip Plate is stocked at Grainger -just need to give them a company name and pay sales tax to bypass the "no sales to consumers". Map Guy Slip Plate? is there a part number? thanks Gil, I searched around (internet) and had a case (6cans) delivered to the house for 40 bucks. Check around and see if you can find some. I think I even gave Larry a can (Shadow) once. Stuff works great

RE: Superglide hitch failure

Operator error, looks like he went past 90 degrees as you can in picture 2 with the plate bent like that. And agree, slip plate lube.

RE: Looking for a new tow vehicle

any of the diesel will be fine for that trailer, actually, it'll make pulling it very nice.

RE: Trailer Hitches? Which one?

====================================================================== guess you didn't read the Trailer LIfe Nov ?? issue of a owners Superglide dropping his 5er and Pullrites explanation of why. It has to be lubed dailey according to Pullrite. Which is a cop out by Pullrite as it doesn't say how the jaws were released. More then likely the idiot, er owner didn't ensure the latch mechanism was fully engaged and just assumed that since he saw the release arm snap in that he was hooked up. I have a SG also, and when I back up and hook, see tte arm snap in I still look and make sure the JAWS are wrapped around the pin. My Uncle made the same mistake and dropped his on his truck also, cause he didn't look to ensure he was latched. He called it a "false indication". Had my SG for over 2 years, works great.
