RE: Driving with Hazards On!

As a ex Verizon cable splicer I have probably driven in more bad nasty weather then the average bear. When moving along in very poor visiblity at maybe 20-30 mph I always had my flashers on and I appreciated others having them on also. The bright flash gives you maybe a 100 ft more of warning which on slick roads means a lot. There are times when I could not see the normal driving light but when it flashed I could see it. No, you don't mistake it for a parked car. If it is parked you will have plenty of time to react, you are not doing 60 mph remember. I high doubt you will ever find a hwy patrol that will pull you over for having flashers on, in fact I have followed Pa Hwy Patrol with their flashers on. Oh if it was illegal why do snow plows run with their flashers on all the time. If you can pull over, do so, but if you must press on then get your flashers on if you are only traveling 30 mph in poor visibility, some of us want to be able to see you and have time to react.

RE: how much ice in black tank to clean sensor?

I would say save your money with the ice. Think about the size of your tank. It has to be 30-50 gallon and now think how much ice you got to put into it for it to slosh around, not to mention how rough or curvey the road has to be to get that ice to slosh around. Not to mention that most of it get melted before you are 2 miles down the road. In most cases if it did clean a sensor it would have gotten cleaned with just filling with water and dumping again. But as has been said you may as well learn to deal with it cause they will never work. If your toilet burps it is full. My gray tanks don't work and they have no solids in them. Face it, most RV manufactors are using cheap chinese junk.

RE: Will this generator work for my camper

It will probably run everything on your trailer. I have a 4000/3500 watt Champion that runs my 15k btu AC and TV and anything else I have. Now I would not run my Microwave and and hairdryer at the same time with the AC on. Although a friend that has a dog grooming trailer needed a generator this past week, hers died, and mine ran her AC, a heated blower and a shop vac and lights. But the bottom line is,,,,it will be noisey.

RE: When to use water pressure regulator on fiver?

If you use one of those cheap RV ones it will reduce the amount of water you get.

RE: When to use water pressure regulator on fiver?

Don't use one and havn't for some time now. I stay in larger parks and doubt they have a major problem with pressure or they would not be in business. Many of these leaks and blow outs are weak spots in the RV, not because there was excessive pressure. Maybe someday I will find that park with 80 psi of pressure and will spring a leak and start using one,,,,maybe.....

RE: Lynx levelers harm tires??

Hmmmmm.....been using them for years and still got all them. When it's hot they will deform a little but seem to go back into shape after a while.

RE: MiFi Service

If you use Verizon's calculator they will have you thinking you need 10g....I use the 2 g for my wife and I and we do come close some months but have never gone over. Course we only use it to just do emails, bills and surf the web, no real downloading. Verizon does send you warnings at 50% 75% and I think 90% and you always have the option to bump it up on line.

RE: Why does the market demand Diesel??

I concur towing anything over 10k lbs I want a diesel. Yes I have done it with both and nothing beats a diesel purring along at 70 mph at 1800 rpms. At hwy speed it is a very quiet truck and small hills or grades it will not shift around. Many have the image of old diesel trucks still stuck in their heads. Here in Texas many are our daily drivers. The US is way behind the rest of the world in diesel powered cars and trucks. The only time they stink is pulling into a fuel pump where people let it drip all over the pavement. As was said, tow 12k lbs with a gas motor and then do it with a diesel then tell me which you want to tow with. You can't bad mouth one or the other if you havn't.

RE: New recliners

Nope, just recliner them and take em out sideways. Took 2 full size recliners in the same way....Lost a little space but I love my big azz recliner....don't know how anyone expected a man to snooooze in those itty bitty lumpy hard RV recliners.

RE: Dallas in August?

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? Sorry but we camp year round..... Yes you will be fine in that small of a trailer with only one AC. My last 5er which was 30 ft only had 1 AC and we were fine in it. Yes on the days it was 105 out it worked overtime, but we were always comfortable. We now have the Montana and yes it has 2 AC's but rarely run both at the same time. We use it mainly to cool down the trailer when we first stop. That is when you need the extra cooling. Once you are cooled down it will be fine. At night even if it is hot the AC usually runs fine and gets a break from the direct sun. Dallas is not that humid, if you want humid go to Houston. We camp all summer going to Canton and in Arlington at Traders Village where there are NO trees, it's basicly camping in a parking lot. Just cause it's summer and it's hot don't mean we put our campers away......Most of our State Parks are full on the weekend and you will need reservations. As has been said by BB there are folks that even camp in tents during that time, along with all the folks with one AC on their trailers......

RE: Tax Hike in Texas!

We don't have state taxes but got to think they got to pay for all these services some way or another. But yeah 5th wheels have been $120 for a while now. Registration here goes by weight so buy an itty bitty car and you don't pay much but buy a big ole truck and you pay lots more. Now Austin, yeah, it used to be a cool town. Now, mostly nut cases and weirdos. But guess where the state capitol is and where do they make our laws?????? It's gonna get worse...

RE: Walmart overnighting

I have gone in and asked about overnighting at Walmarts that had the bars and have been given the ok to stay. Unless they have a sign up about city ordinances prohibiting overnight most will allow overnights. Most cases they only put down a minimum amount of asphalt and the lots can not handle the weight of 40K plus lbs so the owners of the shopping center want to prohibit trucks. A good example is the Walmart in West Memphis at the intersections of I-40 and I-55. They were very friendly and even the lot security came over and showed me where to park. But they get a pile of truck traffic and the lot security main job is to keep trucks out. The bars are high enough that they don't even hit my trailer.

RE: Black tank

If you got a Keystone product most likely it is the backflush check valve. I think they used the cheapest Chinese company they could find. Just changed mine out last week. It was stuck shut most likely like yours is. I just replaced mine with an elbow. Don't for see any sewage backing up the hose to the city system since I don't leave a hose connected to it.

RE: LT tires are recommended on my OE tire sticker

Most any major brand LT E rated tire will be fine. If you look they will all have a weight rating of 3000 some odd lbs. Another thing with E rated tires is they have a lot more leeway built in since they are a passenger tire. So at 2300 lbs you will be fine. Now if you want to and have the money to spend then yes Ribs are probably the best. My old trailer an Alpenlite with a gross of 14k lbs came from the factory with Goodyear Wranglers. I normally run BF Goodrich, but after the recall I have Michelin LTX on now and have never had a problem......

RE: Do I have enough truck?

You don't only have to worry about the weight but also the amount of air you are pushing. With a 5th wheel you will have more frontal area that means more air you have to push. If you don't believe that then just watch your gas mileage when you have a head wind lol lol

RE: goofy , but true ?

Uhhhhh,,, as long as the car is being "towed" it does not have to be registered. That is kind of the reason for towing a vehicle sometimes. Not everybody towing a vehicle is an RV'er. Sometimes you just want to get a vehicle that has no insurance or plate that don't run from point A to point B. Never heard of such a thing as being pulled over for not showing the plate of a towed vehicle.

RE: Barbeque Cookoff?

First, I am by no means the spelling police, but if we're gonna have a BBQ let's spell it right lol lol..... If you don't use the abbreviation of BBQ or the half abbreviation of bar-b-que, then the spelling is barbecue. Living in the land of BBQ I have never seen it spelled barbaque.... But hey, any way you spell it I love it....

RE: Reese 15k Pro Series hitch

The 15K is the hitch you get for "free" when you get a new trailer.... It has a slide bar and you will get a lot of clunking when you start and stop. The 16K with the jaws will eliminate a lot of the clunk. If you tow a lot of miles the slide bar will wear fairly fast increasing the clunking noise.
