RE: exterior face lift on a 1988

If you're not adversed to Mexico you can get a fine job down there for very little money. They'll do any pinstriping you want based on your own design or they have samples of swooshes they can paint on. It's done with automotive paint so it'll last as long as you own the RV. I've had work done in Mazatlan and San Felipe and both times it was excellent and economical. With a caveat or two mentioned in the articles. Here's my blog post about the paint jobs I've had done down there starting with the latest job: Paint jobs in Mexico... Ya they did a great job but I live on the north east coast and though I'd like to take a nice long trip that's just a little to far for me .

exterior face lift on a 1988

Hello I have a 1988 gulfstream and was thinking of giving it a face lift to the exterior by putting on newer style striping ( swoosh style)and might paint the bottom belly a different color that will blend in with the striping.Has anyone out there with around the same year coach done this? Do you have any photo's of what it look's like? Here is a photo of mine it is in great shape just want a different look.I can figure out how to post photo

1988 gulfstream sunvista hood latch

Hello I purchased a 1988 gulfstream the end of last year and the front hood latches have broken. I am looking too replace them but can't find them anywhere. The latches work, it's the knob part that you turn to unlock the hood is broken. Might anyone know where I could purchase them? Thank's for any input..

RE: 1987 RV Engine Won't Turn Off

try checking the wire's that come from the engine compartment through the firewall. they might be pinched behind the engine compartment ====fuse panel

RE: 1987 RV Engine Won't Turn Off

I don't know if this might help but.How are the ground's check too see if they are good,it might be a good idea to even make a new one some where on the chassis from the battery. I found on my 1988 gulfstream coach that I just purchased that the grounds are bad so I've redone all most all of them through out the coach.

RE: need a tow hitch

What kind of dolly do you have? If it's new the instructions should tell you the desired height the ball should be. If it's used without instructions Google it and see what the manufacturer recommends or get their phone number or email address and contact them for the needed info. Dave this is a used dolly and it has no markings .It looks like a fairly new style, it has a rotating base platform and pivots, there is a pin that you pull out and is like scissor so you can drive your car on with a winch and a crank hand w/ a wheel for storage.

RE: need a tow hitch

Hi Fred, thanks for the info I will be moving the rig tomorrow because I have no room behind it now to take measurements, I will put it on level ground and take the measurements. I know the receiver is pretty high,I have a couple of straight hitches but I think I'll be buying a 10 or 12 inch drop. I just wanted to make sure because I did not want to see my car passing me on the highway.

RE: running you generator???

I want to thank everyone for their input. I am new too the class a seen that is why I posted this. It is an older model 1989 all is original except for me remodeling the unit, hardwood 3/4 " oak flooring, granite counter tops, new leveling system, window awning's,my wife think's i'm crazy. But I enjoy the out come it look's beautiful hopefully the trip will be great, thank's again Sounds great! I suggest having the unit weighed in "trip trim" though, to make sure you're not exceeding the vehicle's weight capacity. I think my wife's luggage weighs more then any thing I put on too the coach... Just kidding...for real....

RE: Motorhome steps

If the motor is no good you could all way take it out and move it manually. First I would check your wire connections and fuses.

RE: running you generator???

Yes most of us do it. To run the roof A/C units. I'll have to check the outlets . I have to keep everyone happy it's going to be a pretty long ride. I had a fifth wheeler before this but but had no generator. this is a whole new game for me going into a class a coach hoping it is a lot easier. I was just curious I thought I could use it while driving just wanted to make sure I didn't want to break anything or over load melting wire's ect...

RE: running you generator???

Not my cup of tea, just curious why running a generator when you have 12 VDC from alternator? Invert DC to AC. that will not run any of my electronics there is no power to the out lets correct?

running you generator???

Hello I purchase a older gulf stream class a motor coach at the end of last year. The question I have is can you run the generator while driving or will it over load the system? I was just curious because I'm doing a road trip with the family and the kid's will be wanting to watch movie's or get on there lap top while I'm doing all the driving. plus wife will have to make coffee to keep me awake.

RE: 1988 gulf stream sun vista 36'

Perhaps this will provide some insight... CLICK Gary Hi Gary thanks for the site . I went on it and it was over whelming and confusing none of the unit's have gvw's on them ,so I called the 800 # and spoke to one of the rep.s .He was very helpful he said he had never heard of a cooler the size I have. The cooler I have is the size of the radiator, the top half goes to the tranny and the bottom half goes to the oil. They carry tranny cooler and oil cooler in one unit's they seem to be an awful lot smaller and they don't give a gvw on the unit's, but it has a electric fan with the unit.I really don't want to go this route wiring another fan. so I think I'm going to purchase (2) cooler's the largest they carry (1) for the tranny and (1) for the oil and mount them on top of each other so it will be as close to the same size as the old cooler.

RE: 1988 gulf stream sun vista 36'

Okay I'm back to this cooling again trying to get it ready for a road trip next month. I finally got the a/c condenser out of the way to see what I have the cooler is the same size as the radiator.Well it turns out the the tranny cooler and the oil cooler are all in one unit upper half tranny and lower oil. I have tried to find cooler'S that are ruffly the same size with no avail. The stamp in the the coach say's it 15,550 GVW does that sound rite? If so should I buy a cooler rated for 30,000 or above seeing that I will be towing a toad and a dolly behind it? Thanks for any input.
