RE: Grill regulator frosts up

Try a higher quality two-stage regulator made for higher volume. A temporary solution to get you through the meal is to keep the regulator submerged in a pail of water. I can't say if it causes any harm the the regulator, but I've done it dozens of times. Another cause I've experienced is even the slightest leak upstream which cools or freezes the fittings at the leak and sends chilled fuel to the regulator.

RE: How do tent people pack?

Pack like you're backpacking, then throw in a few convenience upgrades.

RE: Generator problem

Also, does it stop less frequently on a full tank? Could be dry, cracked, or loose fuel line.

RE: Caulking External Lights / speakers

Looks like silicone and not a factory job at that. This is one of the few places where I prefer silicone - lights and other fixtures that may need to be removed. I would dismount, thoroughly strip and clean, then bed the fixture in just the right amount of silicone to form a resiliant gasket and provide a smooth, tooled edge. That tool being my finger usually. Wipe off any extra without smearing.

RE: Are all E350 fuel gauges wildly pessimistic?

Sum1: I thought about doing the same thing, but I don't really have any storage space for gas cans to make me comfortable doing that. Did you just drive around town and stay close to gas stations, or did you tanker sufficient extra fuel in cans?I carry a gas can when I do it. I usually do it during initial "shakedowns" where and when I know it's safe. In other words, I won't risk it pulling a grade with no breakdown lanes with a boat in tow. Be aware that this may not be good for some fuel pumps, but the benefits far outweigh the risks, in my opinion.

RE: Are all E350 fuel gauges wildly pessimistic?

I run every new (to me) vehicle out of gas and calibrate the gauge from zero. That way, I know within a very narrow margin what's in my tank. It's a great confidence booster.

RE: F53 cab A/C issues - where to start

This may be of limited value, but I feel I gotta toss it to you. I once owned a Ford of around that year that did something similar. It turned out to be a difficult to access little vacuum hose that failed. I had some kid with skinny hands replace it. Sorry, that's all I remember . . . No, seriously . . . That's all I remember. Who are you people, anyway?

RE: Motorcycle tent

I'm with Skip. For a generous sampling of what's available, visit REI.com. Better deals still at their REI Outlet site. Unequalled customer service, too.

Try taking it to a good radiator shop. He can find or build one.

RE: Smoke detector - stick house

Are you sure it's your smokie and not your carbon monoxide detector? Is the damper open and the flue drawing properly? You wouldn't be the first new fireplace owner (or old one for that matter) who forgot to open the damper. You can test the draw by running the fireplace for a few minutes, then turning it off. Loosely roll up a half sheet of newspaper, light the end of it and blow it out after it's flaming vigorously, all in the fireplace, mind you. The resulting smoke should be drawn quite positively up the chimney. Did you hook up an outside combustion air intake? If not, you may need to keep a nearby window cracked to compensate for the negative pressure created by the air going up the chimney. Please let us know.

RE: House battery issue

You probably could benefit from a better battery (a true deep cycle battery)... Unless his battery is a deep cycle/starting battery it is a "true deep cycle", no different than any other deep cycle. This is a common misconception.Harold is correct. Tommy47 said he has a marine deep cycle not a marine dual-purpose battery. Tommy, a few questions: How old is the battery? Has it been allowed to sit discharged during its life? Have you checked the electrolye?

RE: Tires Again!!

Front and rear tires definitely do have different jobs. I generally run one size, brand, and type on all corners for swapping convenience, however. I never change the rotational direction of a tire. If it begins its life rolling one way, I will not mount it to roll the other way.

RE: Batteries

I agree with Bill H's assessment because my experience supports it.Mine doesn't. I even had a pair of group 24's in parallel with one battery having a shorted cell and it didn't drag down the other one. And they were like that for two months in my possession and God knows how long in the dealers possession. The good battery has specific gravity like it was new.Yes, I too had an instance where a bad battery didn't drag its parallel down so I don't doubt your experience. I had at least two where it did, however. I'm glad yours worked out.

RE: Best way to clean Ford "Super alloy" wheels 22.5"

As suggested above, they're probably coated. One common product that I've seen attack that coating and leave what you describe is Simple Green. It was left to soak for a short while if that matters, but I've never again used it on coated aluminum wheels. You can strip and re-polish or live with it like I did.
