RE: Dieselram.com

I thought they wouldn't let me in because I made a comment supporting guns (in principle)
I was just trying to get on when I came across this post

RE: Resources for locating campgrounds

Hi Steve
We stayed on a few B.L.M. sites and Forestry Commission sites-----they are a bit more rustic than KOA type sites-(and cheaper)---but have what you need------I can't remember if it was the BLM, but we stayed by some dams, in REALLY nice spots (could have been Army Corps. Eng.)
Enjoy your trip

RE: mobility scooters

I think, so far, that removing the back seat is the best option----still got to get it in, but more space to manoeuvre it around-----I might get away with just taking out the 2/3 bit---leaves a seat should we need it------
The truck is '06 Cummins 5,9 3500 dually
Thanks for ideas so-far

RE: Truck Camper Trip Reports

Hi
we are making plans for a 'road-trip'----we are heading from England to Dunkerque,(France) in May, going accross Belgium and Germany and leaving North Germany by ferry to Sweden, going North to hit Norway above the arctic circle, going to Nord Kapp, then returning through Finland ---ferry to Eastonia,--- Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and back home through Germany etc.--------------Are there any RV.net members anywhere along our route ???????it would be nice to meet-up.
Anyone done this trip with any advice for us??------------------We are hoping to miss the snow/cold (but realise weather is a bit of a gamble !!) We have mossie repellant left over from Alaska----but hope (like Alaska) to give them the slip !!!!!!

mobility scooters

Hi
we now have to carry a mobility scooter with us:(-----ours is quite big/heavy--- but breaks down so I can put it on the back seat of the truck------is it possible to mod the rear cab door to allow it to go in complete???----how do others carry them, our door is on the back of the camper-----------------if we put it on a trailer it would make entering the camper VERY difficult:(--------and I really don't want to be restricted with a trailer---one reason we sold the 5er-------------we really don't have the weight capicity to 'hang'it on the back.
Any suggestions appreciated-----how do you carry yours ???

RE: How do you make your bed in a TC?

are we the only ones with twin beds ? (we didn't choose them --thats what the camper came with !!)------------------So much easier to make than double bed---and I do admit I sleep better with my own covers all night!!!!

RE: 4x4 dually offroad

I would say-----which is more important to you --driving off road or hauling a heavy t/camper-------if you want/need to carry a heavy camper--dual rear wheels are a must---so don't go too far off road-------if you must go well off road get a lighter camper and stick with s/r/w
We run a long bed, double cab dually, and it is not the right tool for off roading (BUT is great for a heavy t/camper !!!)------We did wreck a tyre last winter with a rock between the rears when driveng rough tracks !!!!

RE: removing glass from window frame

Depends on if it is a rounded window or square. Square is easy as each side is independant.
Round is much more difficult but still doable. The you have to work the fram off the glass starting at the bottom. You will have to slightly deform the corners in the process, but not enough that they can't be pulled back together.
Biggest issue is getting the round corner glass made to fit you size. Recommend getting the measurements before you start taking the current one apart.
You may be able to just take the frame to someone and get them to make and install the glass for not much more money.
Thanks for the info------It is more difficult for us in the UK as there are few Co's that do RV stuff---and those that do, treat RVs as a SUPER luxury lifestyle and charge for it $$$$$$$$$$$$ (£££££££)
Our son (whose trailer it is) is having a hard time and can't afford to pay a Co to to do the job-------------he may finish with a sheet of plexiglass type stuff.
I can't remember if the broken window has square corners, or round-----it would certainly cost a lot to get a pane cut in safety glass with round corners !!!!!
With winter now upon us it HAS to be fixed as he lives in the trailer------------------------he may resort to a sheet of ply for the winter !!!

RE: removing glass from window frame

You will have to scrape all the sealent off the corners and look for star screws. Once removed carefully pull the frame apart. Put the rubber seal around the new glass and carefully place it back into the frame and replace the screws.
Thanks for that info

RE: Stupid Truck camper.

Hi
We have run TC and 5er for a few years-----but love travelling with the TC so much the 5er is redundent and now up for sale---sure, the space in the 5er is terrific, but, the TC is much more rewarding----this truck and camper have taken us on a huge US road trip, from TX to AK to Niagara Falls & back to TX------last winter to Portugal & Spain------with a bit of luck, to Morocco this winter------we just LOVE it :)
But if you have use for both TC and trailer/5er---this is the way to go:C

RE: trailer window

Hi
Thanks for your info. so far-------What is r solution ??
It is not quite as easy as going to a glass guy------it would be very unlikely that I could find a guy that had ever SEEN an RV window !!
-----Don't forget that in England, RV's are quite rare.
Thanks again for any info

trailer window

Hi
Our son has an old travel trailer, it has a broken window----if he takes out the inside trim, then removes the whole window from outside, will the frame come apart to fit new glass ???
thanks for any advice--------please note that we are in the UK so a visit to our 'local' RV place is not really an option !!!:(
