RE: CG Ideas near Williamsburg, VA

Another vote for American Heritage. Just returned from a weeks stay. Sites have concrete pads along with concrete patios. Very impressed with the improvements since my last stay there two years ago. It is 10 miles from the Williamsburg Visitor Center and about 14 miles from Busch Gardens. The layout of the sites is nicely done so that you are not looking at the side of your neighbors rig. All sites are pull thru. WiFi was very good for a CG. Bath house clean and in good repair.

RE: running A/C and Microwave

Agree with mhawk4 about the possibility of the AC, Microwave and water heater being the reason for the circuit overload. I can run the AC and Microwave together without any problem as long as I flip the circuit breaker for the water heater to off.

RE: Sun Block product for tires. How good is it?

I bought the kit a couple of years ago for 14.99. Use it once a year on the tires. If nothing else, it does make them look good, gives them a nice black look. I also use 303 throughout the year.

RE: Poconos to greyspoint campground, Va.

My preferred route would be 81 to 66 (VA) to 17 to 17/95 back on 17 to 33 to 3. Which is a 5-1/2 to 6 hour drive.

RE: Campground near Penn State

I have stayed at the Bellefonte KOA. Yes, it is on a hill, however I have never had a problem leveling out my 34 TT. The sites are terraced and some pull through sites are better backed into, especially with my setup as I will drag the rear. There may be some sites that it may be difficult to do so but most are okay. The staff is extremely nice and helpful. You can't beat the Amish baked goods. As noted, Fort Bellefonte very close to the KOA and from the road it looks okay. I beleive it has changed ownership in the last year or two and there seems to be alot of improvements being done. Either one of these two are within a 25 minute drive to the PSU main campus.

RE: Bethpage Campground, Urbanna Va

Stayed there 2 years ago prior to prime season (April). Stayed at one their then newly open supersite. Very nice. Regular sites are grass/gravel. I would think it gets tight, as any resort, in the prime season. Pool wasn't open but looked nice. Overall the resort was well maintained even during their slow season.

RE: Length of TV (television) cable needed?

Just like the umbilical cord, fresh water hose and the sewer hose--6 inches longer than you have.:W I'm usually good with a 25 footer but I do carry an additional 10 footer.

RE: Satellite for travel trailer quetion

I just got the DISH NOW for the TT. Bought the dish and receiver at Radioshack for $99.00 delivered. Use the Green Dot money cards to activiate(do a search for details). Works great with no monthly commitments.

RE: roof ladder

I would also go with the telescoping ladder. You probably end up paying about the same after the install costs of a direct mount and you have the versatility of being able to move the ladder around and be able to use the ladder at home. I bought one a few years ago and found it to be very useful.

RE: Rainy day Camping Do you do it?

As my forum user name implies, it usually rains at some point when I go camping thus I don't let it stop me. I enjoy a good thunderstorm as long as it is short lived.

RE: Dish/Direct pay as you go card

I was exploring the possibility of Dish's pre-pay option but was turned off because the info I got from RadioShack was once activated the days were consecutive. Very interested in screamineagle's use of the GreenDot Money card and thanks for the info. Does anyone else use the GreenDot cards with Dish?

RE: Hensley Arrow - grease zerk added - pics

1. Since there is very little movement at the ball on a Hensley Arrow hitch, why bother to install a grease fitting… 3. The threads of the zerk probably protrude past the inside wall of the trailer tongue. While the top of the ball has a flat spot which would provide room for the protruding zerk when the trailer is level, the HA does tilt and then the ball could hit the protruding zerk and something will need to give. It seems to me that the above two statements contradict each other. If there is "very little movement at the ball" then if the threads are protruding it shouldn't be a problem. Conversely, if the ball does move enough for protuding threads to potenetially cause a problem, then there is a need to grease the ball. As per the owners manual "Periodic greasing of the hitch ball and coupler will prolong the life of these parts." Thus, it is necessary to grease the ball. Personally, I grease mine yearly.

RE: Cool Mods

My mods project for DH (before our big trip this season) will be to make the Lexan "storm" door!! Wish us luck -- he is really nervous about ruining a piece of Lexan. And, he is going back and forth about how to attach it -- clips, Velcro, or screwing it directly into the door frame. The only problem that I had when cutting the Lexan/plexiglass was when I cut the radius on the corners. I used a handheld jigsaw, made some relief cuts and things worked out okay. Just go slow and the DH shouldn't have a problem. I attached mine with velcro to allow for ease of removal although I find that we seldom remove it. Others have used "mirror clips" which sounds like a good idea also. It was one of the best mods that I did.

RE: Tekonsha P3 Electronic Brake Control

Try this link RVWHOLESALERS. The P3 is $10 cheaper plus it will qualify for free shipping. They also have the wiring harnesses for the P3. I got my P3 from them (also got my old Prodigy from them). I like CW and do order from them frequently but it does pay to shop around.

RE: camco solar Refrigerator Vent

I installed the first type two years ago. Easy to install-simply run the wire down the vent, attach the fan to the rear of refrig and solar panel to top of vent cover. I added an in-line toggle switch to mine so that I can turn it off/on as needed. Install took all of ten minutes. I prefer the model that I installed due to the fact you can place the fan in a location where it is actually moving air over the vent tube. It looks like the self contained unit has the fan in the vent cover which I suppose would draw air upwards but I won't think it would be as effective.

RE: First Time to Ocean Lakes MB

The H, I and 2000 sections are pretty much all alike. We usually stay in the I section but have a spot in the H section this year simply because it was the section with a site closest to the beach. If haven't already done so, get the "Express Check In". I think that you still have time for it. They'll mail you your vehicle tag and you simply drive through the security gate-- no stopping at the office to register. It is a great beach resort.

RE: Campground info near Bethlehem PA

Monkei DW and I are volunteering at tht Open. We have reservations at Pine Hill. I checked out the KOA and it is okay at best. The closest CG that I found was Quarker Woods. Took a trip to check it out last fall--IT IS A DUMP. Nothing like the pictures on its website. Pine Hill is about 30 minutes away from Saucon Valley CC depending on traffic. If you end staying at Pine Hill look me up, site B8.

RE: Northeastern Pa. to Myrtle Beach, SC best route.

Travel to MB yearly from Sunburym PA. Usually go 81-66-17-95 route which isn't too bad. Only problem area is the Fredericsburg area which can get busy entering onto 95 along with som traffic lights. The other problem area is the Richmond area, non rush hour, I stay on 95, rush hour 295. An alternate route that I take every now and then is 81-64-288-95. This can add about 20-30 minutes but you it avoids the congestion at Fredericksburg and it is all interstate with no traffic lights. It is also very scenic. Travel time for me is about 11 hours.

RE: Tire Sunblock vs Covers.

I bought it when it was on sale at CW. I find that I need to apply it twice a year.
