RE: Camping in NP, can't cut tree limbs for coach clearance!!

When I switched from a 21 foot long trailer to 31 feet long I knew I would be more limited on my spaces. No way would I go somewhere and be upset that I couldn't change thier park to accomodate me. I would be mighty pissed off if someone trimmed a tree at my home so that they could park their RV on the street.

RE: 05 Hemi Transmission

I obviously have a different truck than you do, but I had a similar problem. I mentioned it to my local dodge service manager and it turns out that there is a TSB for it for the 2004's, not sure about the 2005's.
I took in the truck and they covered it under the emisions warranty, took 30 minutes and it is like a whole new truck when in tow/haul mode.
I was ready to trade it off and now am happy.

Trailer Light control box?

I seem to remember someone making up a box where they plugged the trailer cord into it and they could turn on the running lights, added a flasher relay so they would flash, etc.
I am going to be adding reverse lights this weekend and I would like to make up the box at the same time. The box will serve as a place to plug in the trailer cord to keep it dry and I can run the lights how I want.
I camp a lot in fields, etc and having the trailer lights on helps find the trailer. The flasher relay would be great if I ever had to leave the trailer along side the road.

RE: Acu Temp Adapter for transmission temps

I would love the Scangauge II but it doesn't read Transmission temp on my truck. Otherwise I would have one...

RE: Over Tongue Limit for 03 F-250

I would not consider towing a trailer without weight distribution and sway control. I have panic swerved to avoid a wreck and my 33 foot trailer stayed right where it should have, behind me.

Acu Temp Adapter for transmission temps

Everyone,
I would like to install a tranny temp gauge but to be honest I'm not okay with cutting the hot line and I really would rather not introduce a spot to leak by using the test port.
Anyway, I have been reading that taking the temperature from the hot line is best for racing applications but when towing you really want to take it from the pan.
Is this true? Can I get the information I need from the hot line? I have an infrared thermometer that I can use to compare the readings at various temps and get an idea if there is an offset and am okay with the offset.
Anyway, anyone use one of these?

RE: JayFlight 27BH Furnace Problems

Just wanted to say hi, nice to have you on the boards :)
If you go the route of taking out the couch (sounds like you have to), let me know, I can stop over and see if we can get it out.
It would be nice to know how they get it in there, seems to be no way to get the screws out to get the couch off.

RE: Trailer height and bridge overpasses

I measured mine after having what I thought was a close call with my old TT. I wrote the measurement on the airbag warning on my headrest. I actually wrote out what the height of the camper is at the edge and the height at the highest point.
The radio antenna sticks up above the AC so if I ever have to go under a low limb I have the DW get out and watch to see if the radio antenna hits, if it does, I back out :)

RE: Campground etiquette

Anyone that needs to read that won't have subscribed to a camping magazine :)
I know I didn't, but I am only 27 :)
I tend to camp at the younger parks and I have had very few occasions where I had problems. Of those times I called up the park office and probably 90% of the time the problem was taken care of. I can only think of one time where I really thought hard about leaving a campground because of neighbors that didn't get taken care of.

RE: Enclosures?

We take a portable fence with us camping and I have a three year old. I use it to put around the fire so that she remembers it is there if we are cooking on it in the early evening. Whenever we used it, it was there as a visual barrier, not an actual barrier. We kept an eye on her and if she pushed on it told her not to..

RE: Family Oriented Campground - NOT!

This is why I call the campground and ask if they will provide a refund if I can't make it. If they say no and are snots about it I say okay I will be showing up either late Friday or Early saturday so that they can't make double money on my site :)

RE: 1/2 ton tow vehicle w/30 ft

I have a 1/2 ton long box quad cab truck. Wheelbase is not an issue for me. Anyway, I pull a 33' foot trailer. I have towed it about 3000 miles so far with no issues.
Now, that said I grew up on a farm and have pulled and stopped trailers all my life.
With my prodigy brake controller the truck stops better with the trailer on than without.
The main concern is going to be wheelbase and whether the trailer wants to throw around the truck, mine doesn't, but I don't know how I would feel about towing a 30+ foot with a standard cab truck.. haven't done it..

RE: Dumping down a floor drain in a garage?

You can dump it down there but it probably has a p trap in it to keep it from stinking. Problem is they are designed for grey water not black. When you dump your trailer the water in the P trap will stink over time..

RE: Exterior Storage Idea for Jack Stand Blocks

I have a truck and I just throw mine back there. I have however often thought about screwing mine to the bottom of my jacks. My concern is them bouncing while going down the highway and causing stress to the sand pads on my jacks. They should be fine, but I have never done it. My TT is high enough that it wouldn't be an issue.
Concern with your approach is a rachet strap exposed to that much weather. I have had a lot of them that were a real bear to get undone after driving in the rain. And this is in the bed of the truck where they won't get pummled by gravel, etc...
Good luck! My blocks look just like yours only w/o the handles :)

RE: Campfire Pot Hanger/Grill/Utencil Holder

If they are driving the pipe into the ground this could be an accident looking to happen. Do you know where the underground utilities are in a campground. For instance in Florida some places they are only 6 to 10" below ground.
If the fire ring is over top of a water pipe that is only 6" in the ground that is a bigger problem than driving a stake into it. Same goes for electricity lines. We routinely have a fire for 8 hours, in 8 hours the heat from the fire would easily melt the insulation on the wires and a lot of water/sewer pipes at that depth :)

RE: Wisconsin Fall Rally - October 10th - 12th.

Silver springs campground in RIO has a free weekend in September if you stay with them at all during the year.
Sky High Campground in Portage has a free weekend in October if you stay with them at all during the year.
Sherwood forest in Wisc Dells has a free weekend in the spring if you clean two sites, you stay two nights free. (Rake up the leaves).
Does anyone know of any other campgrounds that have a spring cleanup weekend where you can stay free if you help them clean up the park?
