RE: I haven't told anybody

Thanks everyone. With me having weekends off my family and I plan on doing a lot of camping this year. Weekends are going to be our family time. With me working from 4:30 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. I do not see my family very much during the week. I will get up at 6:00 a.m. to see them for about 20 minutes then I'm off to bed again.

I haven't told anybody

this until now. I am physically, emotionally, and mentally burned out. With that being said. I have given up working my last part time job. I'll be 47 years old in a couple of months and working all these crazy hours, and different jobs and the stress of finding a full time job and trying to provide for my family wore me down. Yesterday at my full time job I felt such a peace that I will no longer have this part time job. Sure the money was nice but after all I have been through you can't take the money with you.The wear and tear on my body was catching up with me. I would sleep almost every sunday since I found my full time job in November along with working my part time job With my part time job I would lay a guilt trip on myself if I took a day off to do something else. That's no good for anyone. I'm really hoping that having one full time job working 40 hours a week I'll recover from my burn out with some rest and relaxtion.

RE: I am thankful

t-train, I wasn't familiar with your history/story, but, good for you for not throwing in the towel and giving up. Congrats on the new job! Doug There were a lot of days where I thought about throwing in the towel. A lot of things went through my mind on why I could not find a full time job.

RE: I am thankful

To t-train: Sorry to hear about your troubles finding full-time work. I was not familiar with your story. Wishing you a brighter new year. Ray Not a problem. I just thankful after 4 long years to find a full time job. Going forward I have learned a lot. I have learned not to stress myself out when I don't have a full time job. That it's ok to string along a lot of part time jobs. As I look back our bills were paid on time. I take the last 4 years of my life as a learning experience and know whatever comes my way I can make it. I was just giving an update to people who followed my post and whether they helped me out or were sick of me posting I'm thankful for the help, listening ear, and advice given too me. Thanks everyone.

RE: I am thankful

T's been working 3-4 part-time jobs to suport his family since a layoff a number of years ago. He recently was able to obtain a full-time job with benefits and better hours. It's been a long, hard road for him and as difficult as it was for him he never gave up and just kept pushing. During that time he had multiple decisions to make, each time trying to determine what would be the best path. In short, he made the right choice and is thankful that a lot of worry is now over. But, T, can ya cook? :B The only thing I can cook is a pizza and I know how to use the microwave. I plan on cleaning the county courthouse for a while. The owner of the company who has the contract to clean the courthouse told me this. Show up to work everyday and do your job and you should not have a problem.

I am thankful

that at the right time in my life I was able to find a full time job. The school that I was subbing at had another janitor retire. A school board member told me that I would not want to apply for the job. This school board member told me that the school was going to hire a temp person to clean there school. September 2013 the school was going to hire a cleaning service to clean there school. As a joke I sent my application to the school I was subbing at. No interview from the school only a rejection letter back from them. Here the school hired a cook from the kitchen to clean the school at night. Now the school will be looking for someone to work in the kithcen.

RE: I might have another decision to make

I plan on keeping the one church job I have. Am I being too greedy in keeping this part time job?

RE: Another brand bites the dust

As of yesterday my uncle lost his job with this company. I told him I would be praying for him so he can find another job. My uncle is 57 years old. I can only hope he does not have to face a long road like I did looking for a full time job with benefits.

RE: I might have another decision to make

t-train...I wish you well. I hope this works out for you. You sound like a responsible person who tries to do the right thing for your family. Dance Chick I'm 46 years old and I'm trying to be responsible and considerate of my family's needs. I'm sure in everyone's life you try and make the right decisions and hope the decision you make will work out well for you and your family.

RE: I might have another decision to make

I'm going to accept the job offer. Thanks for the advice everyone. I have talked it over with family memebers. My grandpa and dad said to go for it. My wife said it was my decision. She stands behind my decision.

RE: I might have another decision to make

Wal-Mart did a background check on me and I was hired by them. I know my background is clean. I know the sheriff's department was doing a financial background check on me. My kids are 19,16, and 15 years old. As long as my backgound check comes back ok. I plan on taking the job.

RE: I might have another decision to make

Here's the thing. The sheriff who's doing a background checked asked me if I'm going to go back to school and then leave them. He said if that's your plans then we need to discuss that right away. I told the sheriff if hired I plan on staying for a while.Once someone gets into the county there maybe other opportunties in the county. The company who's has the contract with the county wants me to stay at Wal-Mart until my background comes clean. If my background check comes clean then the company wants me to give Wal-Mart a two week notice. Does a person keep cleaning the church, work full time at the county, and part time at Wal-Mart?

I might have another decision to make

The county I live in contracts out the court house and jail to be cleaned. The company that has the contract I applied with this company. I received an email from this company. They told me if I pass the background check and drug test the county will probably offer me the job. If I take the job the hours are 4:30 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. Monday through Friday. I will only see my family on weekends. I would be making more money than I am at Wal-Mart. Presently I'm working every weekend at Wal-Mart with a few days off during the week at Wal-Mart. The company that has the contract offer's some benefits.

RE: This Tuesday

My three part time jobs I have now I have no benefits. Dance Chick I'm 46 years old. I do have a 401k plan from my previous employer when I was laid off in October 2008. My wife carries the insurance so I don't think I'll need the insurance. I would still see what kind of insurance they have. I was thinking long term if I take the job and do not get fired and would enjoy working there doing this. When my wife and I get ready to retire maybe I could still work for Wal-Mart in my retirement years. Not jumping on you or anything like that......I know you have been looking for a long time. 46....3 part time jobs, no benefits. The job with Wally sounds like it has come at an opportune time. You have a 401K from previous employer........do you contribute to it or is it sitting dormant? The clock is ticking...........time marches on very quickly. Good luck! My 401k plan from my previous employer is sitting dormant right now. I do not contribute to it right now.
