RE: The Pyramid of Doom

Not wanting to be sour grapes but why do Moderators let this garbage that has nothing to do with General RV'ing be posted? So sorry, headmaster. Next time there is a post about a frequent problem with an RV black tank, we will make sure to note that it has nothing to do with an RV black tank. :S I posted because there is zero information about the black tank that is helpful to anyone. Just a bunch of gibberish that belongs somewhere besides here. For the same reason you not only read it once and posted but then posted a second time!:h If a thread doesn't interest you don't read it!! Many posts I skip over you do not have to read every single thread or post within a thread!:S :B :B

RE: Solar panels -- how common?

One other item is solar seems more popular here in the southwest. No we are not more ecofriendly we have fewer trees and more sun, making them more useful. Also we have lots of BLM land where you can boondock again good application for solar.

RE: Wonder what an extended trip will cost?

Thats pretty good. I just spent about $250 per day on a solo motorcycle trip up the California coast. Hotel rooms for 1 person gets pricey as does nice dinners with a couple of good beers. Maybe RVing is cheaper. Hmmm, maybe if you rode a Harley instead of a Beemer your cost would be less.....Just bust'n ya. Did that same thing and came out about the same price. Agree, having the RV with the bike in tow would be ALOT cheaper...Safe riding Fire Guard. -paul Nah then the tow service would cost him more! :B Previous rider of K1200LT! I noticed how expensive last long trip across country on the bike and that was several years ago. Motel rooms were a major sticker shock as it had been several years since last did trip on bike with motels. To old to camp on the ground anymore. Well I can get down on the ground it is the getting back up in the morning that is the problem!:E

RE: National RV, and other orphan values

Once the coach is out of warranty and current production doesn't matter if manufacturer is in business or not, all the parts are available in the aftermarket. Body parts that are unique are also available, in National's case through Ortega Manufacturing in So. Cal. There is nothing out there in a gas unit that I would trade my Dolphin for and very few in DP we would move too. :B

Cheryl just brought up a good qestion. Are you going to "assign" what we bring? Like a-m bring sides and n-z bring deserts?

RE: RV Tour/Rally Cost

Depends on what is included you may be shocked at what admission to sites cost. Also are they supplying transportation including driver and a guide. Bottom line though is it worth it to you! Let someone else worry about all the details and scouting for place for the group. If not maybe you won't see any value. I see the tours most valuable for first visit to an area. We have thought about tour to Mexico. They know where to stay to get gas where not to travel, especially alone and what parks to stay in.

RE: ? Which SS Percolator Campfire Coffee Pot ?

Ours is aluminum, yes I know all about the "dangers", but we bought ours back over 30 years ago and it had heavy use for many years and not so much others. When we tent camped it was on the stove first thing in the morning and on the edge of the fire all day and into the night. We still use it sometimes when dry camping so we don't have to fire up genset. Nothing beats the smell of perking coffee and bring back the old Maxwell House adds with the perking sounds! :B

As Piano stated the OP said current unit is dead they have to buy something, now is the time. With PSW you will never have to worry about what you plug in. Our coach has a MSW and it has worked fine including powering HP/Compaq laptops :B but if it dies and I have to spend the money it will be for a PSW, same if I have to replace it due to capacity needs.

RE: tow dolly Brake?

One other key if you are only worried about complying with law is what does the owner's manual say for the motorhome? Many say ANY towed vehicle or trailer must have aux brakes.

RE: replacing air filter on V-10 Triton engine

Note all above the above are saying pull up FRONT, back has tabs that face rear so once front up it moves backward to finish releasing.

RE: basment a/c in '07Itasca

Are you hooked to 30 or 50 amp? if 30 you may have a switch in a bay somewhere like I do that you have to switch that keeps the second compressor from coming on and pulling to much current.

RE: RV show advice

We just did the Pomona show last fall and the main reason was planning for replacing our current rig in a couple years after going fulltime. Lots of ideas and neat to see new features and floorplans. BUT as Sooper said know what your doing don't let the happy feelings drag you somewhere you don't want to be. Now as Outdoor said if you have done your homework you may very well find a great deal on exactly what you want, which you know is a good price because you did your homework. Many of the manufactures offer the dealers special incentives at the show along with finance companies may do the same. Enjoy the show and try not to get to dazzled by what is out there!
