RE: New Router Install Problems

Hook the modem directly into your computer and bypass the wifi router. Get that working first. Then I believe that your router will work. I do not think your modem is connectied to the Net server. You are trying to get too many things to work at once for the first time.

RE: SLIDER ASSEMBLY RIVET

Slide it out of the outer tube. That will come loss at the bottom and the sections will separate and you can slide the slider out.

RE: Inverter /converter

No, the inverter converts 12 volts to 120 volts and since you are connected to 120 volts from the shore it should be turned off. However, it is made idiot safe and does not hurt anything if left on.

RE: 340 cummings DP

Unlike gas, diesels do not need stabilizes. However, in a warm humid climate, an anti fungus additive would be wise depending upon how long it is stored. Anything less than six months would not require this however.

RE: Avoid Oklahoma if retiring

Texas, no income tax, no tax on groceries, reasonable property taxes, reasonable vehicle licenses. Economy is up there with the best. Stick house insurance is high.

RE: 340 cummings DP

What are your options? DP and all other RVs set for long periods all the time. Things go down hill when setting on all units.

RE: Need overnight stop along Hwy 54 in Kansas

Walmarts are all along the way. Most small towns in that area have an area for over night RVS, some with hook ups, often the local fair grounds. Just stop and ask the first police officer you see where you can park.

RE: Convection Microwave oven?

The new combination ovens are wonderful. They in fact can replace the conventional oven and do lots of things much better. For example, they do will on such things as frozen biscuits in half the time. Most of the gen sets will fun the unit. I suppose if you boondock then the propane oven would save energy.

RE: gernrator has black sticky oil

Oil with lots of hours will surpass every criteria used to evaluate oil. I can tell you this with 100% assurance and thus you can save yourself the money and just assume the oil is full of wear particles. The analysis is calibrated for a predetermined use period of the oil being analyzed. Surpass that by a wide margin and your numbers will be way over the limits.
That is basically what I recommended, price the unit based upon a pending over haul. Since the probability of needing an over haul is low, I would be happy if I bought the unit accordingly. A five year old unit with only 9000 miles will probably have lots of other problems which in the long run will surpass the gen set issue. For example, $3600 for new tires and probably the replacement of a major item like the water heater.

RE: gernrator has black sticky oil

I suspect that the genny oil has 500 hours on it. Getting an oil analysis as some laymen have suggested will tell nothing except the oil is dirty. They are intended for normal oil change intervals and tell you the presence of abnormal wear particles the engine is producing as previously determined from the histories of oil sample reports from similar engines.
My suggestion is to assume there will be a problem with the genny and determine how much an overhaul would be and use that as a baseline for dickering on reducing the selling price of the unit. However, also note that IMHO, probably the genny engine is ok with the suggested oil change. They are really tough pieces of equipment.

RE: coach battery replacement

Get the best deep cycle battery that Sams or Walmart sells. You will have to do it your self for they will not do anything on RVs.

RE: Batteries setup for boondocking

Get a good warm sleeping bag and turn your thermostat down. Other than that you need the necessary battery bank capacity for the entire night and not discharge your battery below about 50% so you do not have to buy new ones so often. And/or you can get a gen set manager which will turn on your gen set when it needs to charge the batteries or run the AC.
I suspect you are totally confused as per the previous post.

Why not use the Escapees mail service and that is in Texas. Just have them send your mail to FL.

RE: direct tv install question????

You want an AB switch. A position being the outside ant and the B position being the roof top ant. The common coax goes to the receiver. Put that beside your receiver.

RE: Custom 5th wheel trailer having issues.

What is a custom trailer?
Inner wheel, dual wheel?
Who designed the trailer?
Seems like you lots of weight. The larges Mobile Suites at 43ft is grossed out around 20k.
Edge wear is usually from misalignment. Could be from axle deflection from excessive loads for the axle. Did you add duals to increase axle capacity? Sounds like the axles are deflecting and the inner tires are taking more than their share of the load.
Lots of details and I understand them here do not make sense.
