RE: SUPERGLIDE Teflon hitch plate?

We gave our teflon disk up when we traded our Reese in for our Superglide. It doesn't work - won't fit and isn't needed as the pin doesn't turn. There's a triangle shaped form in the plate that is attached to the king pin plate on the trailer that fits into the hitch. That "forces" the hitch to move for turning clearance with a short-bed truck. I give our superglide a shot of Slip Plate when I spray it on the superglide rails.

RE: Ever really listen to the drug commercials????

The ones that really catch my attention also list "possible death" as a side effect. Wow, what could be worse - the ailment or the cure!?!?!? :)

RE: Rear Kitchen Floorplans "Yes" or "No"

Ditto here. Had the fiver for 3 years now and never had a problem.

RE: Shorter 5vr with king bed

Ours is a king and that was one of the reasons we like this Copper Canyon. We have a king at home and wanted a king in the RV. DW and I switched sides so we could make the bed (I fit into the closet easier than she does - don't tell her I said that, lol) and it works well for both of us. Our's is "officially" a 29 foot trailer, but actual length is 32 feet, 32'8" when I add in the ladder on the back.

RE: News, Would you eat this 15 year old Cheese?

That has got to be a great-tasting cheese. I bet it is sharp enough to take the skin off the roof of your mouth. mmm

RE: Height clearance on a 5th wheel?

Check out the America's Independent Truckers' Association website. It gives low bridge locations by state. www.aitaonline.com/Info/Low%20Clearances.html

RE: Propane Issue

I have a Keystone product and also was having a time with the left side tank to the point that I was also moving it to the primary position. Those tanks are not especially light! Then I read a suggestion here that said to open the tank valves slowly as the high flow sets off the safety apparatus in the tank. Since then, I have been opening both tanks slowly and haven't had another problem (knock on wood).

RE: ADVICE FOR FIRST 5TH WHEEL

We bought our 2008 Copper Canyon back in July 2007 and outside of a few minor problems which were fixed by our dealer, we have been very pleased with it. Copper Canyon is a mid-range unit made by Keystone. We just put it to bed for the winter and can't wait to get out in it again in the spring!

RE: This Is Fun????????????

Sounds like all of your mishaps happened soon after you got the unit. Hopefully, things will go smoothly from now on since you've had the bugs worked out. Our landing gear fuse went after a year of ownership and I had to call our dealer to find out where it was located - from the campground as we were setting up. Luckily, another camper had a fuse that fit. I now carry a full range of fuses with me in case I (or another camper) have another problem. Keep looking forward to next camping season - everything just has to go better!

RE: Vaseline on Slide Seals??

We use Protect All Slide Out Rubber Seal treatment. As it says on the spray can, "The only treatment you'll need". :)

RE: Window Treatments

They are called lambrequins and ours are attached with screws going into the edge of the material on the inside closest to the window.

RE: Very Upset

Zomar - that's exactly what I did when I traded our TT for our 5th wheel - told them I had sold the trailer and wasn't going to rv any more. No problems and no fees. I felt that what I was doing was none of their business.

RE: Looking for the Silver Bullet!

I use the same procedure as Vulcaneer does and it works very well. I also found a website (through this forum) written by a trailer-truck driver and it was very helpful also. I don't know how to make it a "clicky", but here's the website: www.newbiedriver.com/articles/Backing/Backing.htm

RE: Travel Trailer vs. 5er vs Toy Hauler

We had a 31 foot TT and took it on a cross-country trip. I always worried when a flat-nosed truck or a bus was passing us - I didn't like the sideways push-pull we got as it passed. We now have a 5th wheel and it just doesn't do that; it tows like it isn't there. We also like the increased storage available to us so I would recommend a 5th wheel. We don't have a toy-hauler, so can't comment on that

RE: Do You Talk To Your GPS?

"Jill" only hears from me when I get the "Recalculating" comment with her "attitude" voice. (As if I don't know where I'm going...huh!)But I showed her when we drove on the new section of US 15 near Lawrenceville, PA and the New York State border. She was turning in circles and didn't know what to do!!! lol

RE: What was your first RV?

Our's was a 1977 Starcraft Starmaster 6 pop-up with pull-out beds. We took the kids (2) to Cape Cod or Maine every summer for two weeks. We all still remember the great times we had. I believe that camper is still going strong.

RE: ANYONE WITH A COPPER CANYON, LAREDO OR ROCKWOOD???????

We've had our Copper Canyon since August 2008 and still love it. We've had no issues with ours either.
