RE: Ford F250 Tire Upgrade

I have Nitto Terra Grapplers on my 2008 Dmax.
285/55R20 load E mounted on XD Monster 20x9 rims.
Love them. handle well and very low road noise for the way they look.
have about 15000 miles on them. They seem to be holding up very well.

Where to research used RV prices?

My wife and I have made the decision to eliminate all of our debt in an attempt to save money and afford to build a new home in a few years. I looked on NADA.com and their prices seamed higher that what I was expecting.
We have a 2011 Sabre 32BHOK-6 with just about every option.
This unit stickered for $49K and they told me I should put it up for sale at about $33K and a reasonable sale would be $29K
Does that seam fair?

RE: Used 3/4 ton crew cab short bed pickup recommendations

The GM 8.1L gas big block was available from '01 to '07. It came with the Allison trans. It is an awesome towing combo, almost the equal of a Duramax from that era. As for Chevy diesels, be aware of the LB7, made from '01 to 04.5. They had injector issues. It is a solvable issue but just let it be known. Still a great truck for the money. The best GM Dmax years were '06 and early '07. I have an 08 and love it with the some upgrades and deletes.
As for the 6.0 GM Gasser it is a great truck either with 3.73 or 4.10 gears you will be with in the trucks capacity. MPG is in the 9-13 empty for this unit. my dad had a 2002 with 4.10 gears it pulled really well but sucked the fuel.
The Ford V10 seems to be a great all around engine. So does the older 7.3L diesels found in the 1997-2002.5 super duty
Note you can also find these engines in the FORD Excursion which is built on the Super Duty platform.
Good Luck

RE: Fifth Wheel Front Bunks

I think wildcat has one or two plans with front bunks. we almost went with one but liked the outside kitchen better. I do remember the rear master being a very nice setup.

RE: Duramax or Cummins 100k + miles

As for motors... They are both hard to beat. The 6.6 Dmax and 5.9 are great.
I would think an edge would go to the DMax 2006 and newer having the 6 speed allison. Thats why I bought the truck I did. The trans braking and engine braking is a great option also. I don't know if dodge had that for the years with the 5.9L

RE: Power awning vs manual awning

Old TT had manual awning. New 5th has power awning. Love the power awning very nice feature and the awning supports are up higher on the camper so there is less chance of getting hit in the head by the stabilizing bars.
This is my experience.

RE: Any Opinions On K&N Air Filters on a Duramax Engine

Call ATP diesel and see what they tell you for filter. I see you have the banks kit on your truck.
My LMM is just under 500hp and still running the stock filter setup. Bought all my stuff through Rob and Dustin at ATP. They have one of the fastest street diesel trucks and really know their stuff. They told me to stay away from oiled filters. Not sure if your LLY has the same filter or not.

RE: Post your MPG in Diesels.

Just came back from a 486 mile round trip. From south/east of toledo Ohio to south haven Michigan and back. Truck trailer loaded to camp is 20-21.5k total weight. Averaged 11.2 MPG hand calculated running 68-78 MPH.
Info on dmax and trailer are in sig.
Just thought I would add my current experience.
My trucks empty numbers are......
Normal mixed daily driving is 15-17
All highway at 68 or slower is 20-27
All highway at 70+ is 18-22

RE: Fuel Economy Numbers

not to bad for a stock truck. My Dmax was very similar to your numbers in stock form.
10 in the rolly
11.5 on flat
thats good pulling a big wind sock.
what was your speed if I may ask? I have to run 65-69 mph for those #'s when towing.

RE: Dmax tranny questions...

I have an Edge Insight gauge on my truck. It watches 100 or more sensors on the truck and can have options for other EGT's and turbo timers. It works awesome.

RE: Smokin Dodge Diesels

Any 2005 or new that smokes is "tuned" in some way or another. I know that as of 2008 Ford and GM have made significant improvements in turbo technology on their trucks. A proper tuned ford or GM will only have a quick smoke at take off then clean up to a light gray haze very quick. Not to many folks in my area drive dodges so I can't comment on them.
My guess is someone attempting to tune their truck themselves or doing it mechanically with fuel and boost overrides . This was common practice back in the old 12v days. Don't know about the newer 24v 5.9 or even newer 6.7

RE: Opinions on manual vs automatic?

Have not owned a manual since 1993.
Had my first Duramax Allison in 2001 105K and started to have injector issues
then went to a 2002 F-250 7.3L auto 4x4 ford in 2008 put 200k on it and its now my dads daily driver
and now 2008 Duramax/Alison LMM 106K and still pulling like a champ.
The new auto's are fantastic. I would never own a manual again. The computers do all the figuring for you.
uses engine brake along with trans brake for stoping and grade braking
holds gears better and longer for better fluid flow and cooler running trans
Have had nothing but a pleasant ride with my current TV we love it.

RE: Gatlinburg Area. 4 couples going.

Just booked Clabough's Campground. for the 2nd to last week in October.
Thanks for all the advice.
Now I have to find all the trails and fun stuff to do. I have heard that there are 4 wheeler rentals and trails that would be fun.
