RE: Fuel Pump problem

i have an 89 Coachman with a 460 Ford engine, 4 barrel carb, and a John Deere chassis. Are you sure that you don't have a John Deere chassis? Sound like I had the same problem as you.
The first thing I would do is replace the safety shutoff at the oil sending unit. It shuts off the electricity to the fuel pump if you lose oil pressure. It is on the back of the engine, connected to the oil sending unit.
The next thing I would replace is the starter relay. It is under the hood on the right side of the chassis. It also has a wire that goes to the fuel pump system.
I replaced my fuel pump first and had to go back and replace both of these to solve my problem.
Any further questions you can email me at tdsmith45@yahoo.com.

RE: Dead battery

The switch on one side is a light and the other side says emergency start. You can not push in on either side. The battery disconnect was not hit. I have no idea what drained the battery. Owned the coach for a year and have reworked alot of stuff on the motor, but it has never had any trouble with starting. I haven't looked at the back side of the switch lately, but if I remember right ithas 15 to 20 wires connected to it.

RE: Dead battery

I know what you are saying about a bad battery. The batteries are only 1 year old. I had them checked a month ago and everything was good. I can't figure out why it did not switch over to emergency start and start on the coach batteries.

Dead battery

I have an 1989 Coachman Class A, 460 motor. Went camping this weekend , started up when we left home fine. When we got ready to leave campground today, the battery was dead. Suppose to have automatic transfer switch, but did not transfer over and had to jump it off using coach batteries. Any ideas what to look for? Light on dash just says emergency start and it is nothing but a light, no switch and the light did not come on.

RE: Stupid Mistakes... Gotta Love 'em!

Sorry for your mishaps. I hope it did not mess up your subfloor. We had some friends who had just bought their camper and it was their first time in it, and they had been camping for years, somehow left a faucet on and it did the same thing that happened to you. The floor started buckling when it dried out. They called the insurance company and the insurance company totaled it. They got a new camper, and then the first time out with it, he backed into a tree. So, I hope your mishaps stop now.

RE: 92 Holiday Rambler Question - Dinette Bed

To let the table down, just raise up the front of the table about 6 inches to a foot and the back should drop out of the brackets, and you should be able to lay it down now. Make sure to put up the front leg. This is how my coachman works.

RE: National Campers and Hikers Camping Club

Bob, Yes National Campers and Hikers did change their name to FCRV(Family Campers and RV'ers). We have been members in a North Carolina chapter for 4 years. If you go to the FCRV website and then click on the state that you want to find a chapter, it will list them. We went to Centre Hall, PA last year to the National Campvention. It was our first one and we had a great time. We met people from all over the country and Canada. The next one is July 3-10, 2009 in Sedalia, Missouri. We won't be attending that one. I'm sure a club wherever you are would love to have new members or an old member rejoining. I know that in NC we are always looking for new members. I hope you find one. We are having a Statewide campout May 1-3, 2009 at Denton Farm Park, Denton, NC. We invite everyone, so if you or you know of anyone that would like to attend, plese feel free to come. You will be welcomed. If you want more information contact me in a private message.

RE: 1996 Mountain Aire Gasser

One of the worst things you could do is to put any type of stop leak into a radiator. It is possible for the stop leak to stop up your radiator coils. If you have ever had to pull a radiator off one of these beast, then you know what I'm talking about.

RE: Help! No 12 Volt Power

If you can hold the shut off switch on and your 12 volt circuit works, I would start by checking that switch. Sounds like the switch could be bad. If you have 12 volts going in do you have 12 volts coming out.

RE: Ford fuel pump

Before you replace the fuel pump, check the voltage going into the fuel pump to make sure you have 12 volts. Check the wiring as close to the gas tank as possible. Possible to have a broken wire or some other reason you are not getting eletrical current. I have had that happen to me.

RE: Older Furnace - fire goes out...

If your unit is old enough to have a thermal coupling, I believe that could be your problem. You can pick one up at most Walmart and hardware stores, for $4 to $10.
