Coach-Net came through again!!

There have been several posts regarding which is best ERS...I used Coach-Net again today..went to leave a RV Park in Lodi, CA this morning, and had a flat on the passanger side tag axle...in fact, before two guys flagged me down to tell me about it, It had unseated off the rim. Called Coach-Net...they had the local Les Schwab guy there within 30 minutes...loose valve core...aired it up, checked all the other tires and we were on our way.......the best part: NO CHARGE!!! Coach-Net has worked great for us everytime we needed it.

Had a tire problem

On our way home from a 10,000 mile cross country trip...stopped at Flying J in Corning, CA to get gas, and did my usual walk around to check tires, etc. Saw on the rear passanger side outer dual, chunks of the tread ripped out and missing over about a 2 foot area, and cord showing in the deepest jagged hole, which was about a 2 1/2" diameter area...headed to the local tire store and bought a new tire...phew...sure glad it did not blow...I was also lucky the damage was on top when I stopped, otherwise I might have missed it.!!! Now I wonder what and when I ran over the road debris that did the damage???? Really reinforces the importance of inspecting your tires!

RE: Dash A/C on a DP

I have 70,000 miles on my 40'er...have owned it for 15,000 of those miles, and I am on my 2nd compressor and when I get home next week, will be taking it in again...blowing hot air again. The good news is that the compressor had a one year warranty and it's less than a year...probably won't cover labor however... That being said, I have talked to many who have never had a A/C problem...guess we are just lucky!!

RE: Dish Network Local Stations

I have been on the road for 24 weeks, and have called to have access to the local channels in various locations throughout the country. Most times it was easy...simply call customer service and request it. One time I called, and the operator said NO....it's against their policy. I told her I had been doing for 15 weeks at that point...she said, that was wrong, and they shouldn't have done it. I asked to speak to her supervisor....she was gone awhile, and came back on and said the supervisor would validate what she said. I asked to speak to him anyway. After 10 minutes, I got his voice recorder. By then I was furious. I called the next day, got an offshore operator who said no problem, and beamed me the locals. Have not had another issue since then. From what I see, Direct is no better.....

RE: How do you remove the 3M protectant film

My 01 Dynasty didn't come with the film, and I always thought I wanted it...now, after reading all the comments maybe I'm glad it didnt...after 75,000 miles, I have numerous rock chips in the front, and will need to have it repainted some day....

RE: Roadside assistance. Which is better?

I have Coach-Net and the times I have had need to use it, was very satisfied....I also have RSA through my insurance carrier, but always use CN.

RE: Tires - Age vs. Condition

http://blog.rv.net/2009/08/tire-age-can-result-in-tire-failure/ Here is an article from this site regarding tire replacement...

RE: Pros/Cons of purchase of '98 Holiday Rambler Imperial

It is recommended that tires be replaced at 5 years, regardless of miles. Please provide your source for this statement :h I can not find any tire manufacturer that makes this "recommendation"./ Hey Texan...check out this article on this site..... http://blog.rv.net/2009/08/tire-age-can-result-in-tire-failure Just one more source!!!

RE: tow vehicle

I tow a Suzuki Grand Vitari 4x4...I am 6'2" and actually fit well in this smaller SUV...I like it. the owners manual recommends you tow at 55mph, which I don't, and also that you stop every two hours and run the engine...which, frankly, I have to stop for a pit stop about every 2 hours anyway....

RE: Pros/Cons of purchase of '98 Holiday Rambler Imperial

Easy people...do a search on this forum...one search showed where Goodyear published an article saying age didn't matter and Country Coach recommends the 5 year replacement....most postings on this and other forums have endorsed the 5 year time frame. Like everything else, it's a personal choice. I for one like to err on the side of safety and subscribe to the 5 year time frame.

RE: Pros/Cons of purchase of '98 Holiday Rambler Imperial

One other thought...a I have an 01 Dynasty with a 350 cummins and a banks system, and I think it's still underpowered....I would question if a 325 is enough horsepower for that heavy of a rig....

RE: Pros/Cons of purchase of '98 Holiday Rambler Imperial

IMHO, low miles are as much of a concern as high miles. It is recommened that tires be replaced at 5 years, regardless of miles. If you do buy it, it would need immediate servicing (oil, trans, water filters, etc.)...the best insurance is an extended warranty policy for at least the first year...but read the policy carefully and know what is NOT covered..

RE: Bad Experience

That cancellation policy is not unique to KOA's...

RE: Bad Experience

We have been on the road over 20 weeks, and stayed in several KOA's...when we visited Devel's Tower, we stayed in a KOA in Belvedere, right off I-90...it was an okay park, with a very nice owner. IMHO, KOA's are about the same as any other park...some are better than others! I use RV Park Reviews to try and pick the best choice in each area we are going to be staying in...for the most part, we haven't been very disappointed. I have also seen where posters to the site blast a particular park, and we end up staying there and thought it was fine...so expectations and experiences vary...

RE: Great road East out of Cody, Wyoming!

I stupidly followed my GPS, which took me over 14...it was a treacherous trip down...must have been 15+ miles of 7% downgrade...I did stop once to let everything, including my nerves calm down...Niether me or my MH would want to do that again!!!

RE: Wow 1250 miles to Glacier National Park

Thanks witzman....be aware that there are delays on Road to the Sun beyond the Loop area...the road is torn up with construction, and several one lane areas which cause the delays. It was so rainy and the clouds were so low today, you couldn't see 10 feet..so after the second 15 minute construction delay, I managed to turn around and come down....never rained in Hungry Horse I was told...but very wet in the park..good news though...supposed to be nice next week after I leave...must be us??? Safe travels...

RE: Yellowstone Park Sites

We just left YNP, and stayed in West Yellowstone, Grizzly Bear RV park...very nice park..and right at the west entrance. Full hookups. The park was full every night....The road construction between Norris and Madison is going to close that road for the year on August 17th, right now it's 30 minute delays...so have to go around the south road, past Old Faithful.

RE: Wow 1250 miles to Glacier National Park

I'm in Hungry Horse, at the west entrane to Glacier NP...arrived yesterday...55 degrees and raining. Rained off an on all night, and more of the same forcasted for today. We left Arizona 19 weeks ago...and have encountered alot of rain throughout our travels...but didn't really get rainy and chilly until we left Minniapolis on our way to Yellowstone and here in Glacier.

Aftermarket Exhaust Brakes???

On my 01 Monaco Dynasty, all I have is a foot switch that drops the trans into 2nd gear to help slow you down...works okay in low speeds but doesn't work on long steep hills...I am starting to research aftermarket exhaust brakes...I know Banks makes one...any other suggestions, thoughts or experiences???
