RE: Spring Break Trip to Panhandle and AL

Thanks all. Are there any issues with routes/roads into these campgrounds?

Spring Break Trip to Panhandle and AL

We are headed to Fort Pickens and Gulf State Park for Spring Break in a couple of weeks for the first time. We would love to hear any tips/recommendations for dining, activites, or anything else you can think of...Thanks in advance!

RE: Gulf Parks

Depends on what experience you are looking for. If you want the beach experience camping I would go with Ft Pickens due to proximity to the beach. Rocky Bayou is a nice small park but not beach park camping. I have no experience with Gulf Shores. East of Pensacola from Destin to Panama City Beach is some of the best beach park camping in the nation at Henderson Bch SP, Grayton Bch SP, St Andrews SP. I was hoping you would chime in FL Gypsy. We would love to try Henderson, Grayton, or St Andrews. Unfortunately, they are all full during the times we are looking at. We are looking for proximity to the beach with proximity to doing other things, too. We aren't really looking for RV resort bells and whistles. We are more partial to state and federal parks.

Gulf Parks

I am looking for opinions on Big Lagoon vs Ft. Pickens vs. Gulf Shores SP (AL). I have checked out RV parkreviews, but I always get a lot from rv.net folks. Thanks in advance!

RE: Trip ideas needed: North Carolina --> Kansas City, Missouri

You might check out Fall Creek Falls SP (TN) for part of your trip. Amazing scenery and fabulous amenities. Definitely worth a night or two. Memphis is certainly interesting. Arkansas has some beautiful scenery as well. Eureka Springs is a really neat town.

RE: Beachside RV parks-SC, GA, FL

Most of the beaches in the Myrtle Beach area do not allow dogs on the beaches during the hours of 8 am til 5 pm from Memorial Day through Labor Day. I am not sure of this, but I think dogs are allowed on the beach anytime at Edisto Beach SP and Hunting Island SP. Both of these are great beach front state parks in SC.

RE: looking for info on camping in smokey mountains

I know you prefer water and electric, but we have found the best camping in the Smokies to be dry. We love Elkmont and Standing Indian. For hook UPS we like Jellystone and River Valley in Cherokee.
