geocaching - washington

I just thought id pass on some information to fellow geocachers and those who are interested to know more about it. geocaching and tcs go hand in hand. the ease of going pretty much anywhere with a tc makes it great. there have been caches ive done that had no room for anything bigger to park near.
here in Washington state the state parks has joined the geocaching club of Washington to do a cache challenge. there are 100 caches spread out in the state at the parks. there is a special coin to collect if you find 50 or 100 of them.
on june 8, Washington state parks do not require a discovery pass or a day use fee in part of celebrating for the 100 year birthday and national get outdoors day.
lots of events going on at the state parks.
here in Spokane Washington at riverside state park (bowl and pitcher) there is a geocache event. there will be lots of information for cachers and those interested in starting to geocache. the event is on june 8th and runs from 11am - 6pm. there is no sign up needed for the event and it is free. again, day use fees are waived that day. we will be camping that weekend at riverside, camping fees apply. so if anyone is on the area, stop by and say hi.
here is the info posted with the cache location on the geocache website.
Welcome to the Washington State Parks 100 Year Kickoff Event
WHEN: Saturday, June 8, 2013
11:00 a.m.
WHERE: Riverside State Park
Bowl and Pitcher
WHAT: "100 caches in 100 parks to celebrate 100 years"
2013 is the 100th anniversary of Washington State Parks, and as part of the celebration, WSGA and Washington State Parks are cohosting the Washington State Parks Centennial GeoTour, a statewide challenge featuring 100 new caches placed on 100 State Park properties, with a commemorative geocoin for finding 50 caches (silver coin) and 100 caches (gold coin).
The GeoTour launches on June 7, and you can find out more about it at this kickoff event, plus pick up your passport and see the prize coin. Also, June 8-9 are free days at the State Parks for National Get Outdoors Day, so you don't need a Discover Pass to attend (but you will need one later to find GeoTour caches).
The Inland Empire event kick-off event will be at 11:00 a.m. at the WSGA table in Riverside State Park (Bowl and Pitcher area) for a meet and greet. At that time we will be handing out the GeoTour guides, passport books for the Washington State Parks Centennial GeoTour, cache maps and Discover Pass information. You will also have a chance to see a GeoTour coin.
PARK OVERVIEW: Riverside State Park is a 10,000-acre camping park along the Spokane and Little Spokane rivers in Eastern Washington. The park supports a wide variety of recreational activities and is rich in history. Freshwater marshes, running rivers and beautiful countryside make up the terrain. The park also includes the Nine Mile Recreation Area, which is available for camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing and boating.
Please note: June 8th is a State Parks free day in recognition of National Get Outdoors Day. The Discover Pass is NOT required for vehicle access to Riverside State Park for this event.
We will have a WSGA table opened from 11:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. and are in need of local cachers who would be willing to work one hour time slots to make this happen. If you are willing to sit at the WSGA table and help answer geo-caching related questions, please post your time preference in your "Will Attend" log. We will try to keep an updated schedule on this listing so everyone can see what time slots are open.
At 3:30 p.m. we will be putting on a Geo-Caching 101 presentation to the general public. If you would be interested in helping with this, please also indicate so in your "Will Attend" log.

the rally is drawing near.
we have had a couple people have to cancel and others sign up for the rally. I will be sending an email to all those that are signed up for a refresh of the information sometime this weekend. my spreadsheet is pretty good but it wont hurt to do a little double checking on things.
for the potluck dinner we will be bringing ham for dinner.

RE: MONTANA TRUCK CAMPER RALLY JULY 11TH-14TH 2013

its about 2 months to go now until the rally. the last 2 months always seem to go fast. some prizes are starting to pile up around my desk here at home for the rally. we are holding steady right now at 20 rigs.
for those arriving on Thursday I have no events planed for that day. its just a meet and great day. since some come in on that day from different distances and arrive at different times I like to make it just a relax day and visit.
there will be a contest on Friday night, something that was not done last year. what is it? a clue would be...."minute to win it".
I will have a itinerary in your welcome bag for the rally.

RE: beer and history - yep, another trip report

Some locals talked about the ATV gathering. There are lots of events at that town.
Yeah...we were at the Wallace Rv park.
We also met and chatted for a while with Betty....big Betty to her close friends. She was one of the first female miners in that region.
A great weekend for sure.

RE: hog wild - a trip report

"Hog Wild" is a Copyright protected moniker for the Arkansas Razorbacks. Since you are in Washington state, we will forgive the infringement this one time! Should this happen again, well, you sleep well just thinking out what might take place! :)
the razor who? lol
when are you heading up this way again jim?
End of June and 1st of July will make it to Yellowstone. That is as far west as we will make it this year.
bummer, just a week or so off from making a trip over there to visit. we will be at glacier the 2nd week of july. maybe next year (2014) if there is a rally in the Midwest we may head that way. its on the strong maybe list for us. so it would be a half way point sort of.

RE: hog wild - a trip report

Great that you picked up trash! I try to do it to. Nice trip...
we have always strongly believed we are the stewards of the land. that we must always leave a camp area in better shape than we found it. it is something that we teach our son cody and it is just the normal thing to do. I want him to take his kids to places we have camped at in the future and have him pass along the same experiences we shared.
yeah we picked up 2 bags of trash. it only took about 1/2 hour of our whole weekend time to make it all clean. not a big deal to us.
still, just wished we didn't have to but we will.
