RE: truck camper fall colors caravan oct 10-12 2014 winthrop wa.

still time to join in on this rally/caravan. the weather looks good for the crossing over the cascades on the cascades highway. awesome views on a clear day. 10 rigs are signed up for this event. smaller than previous years but it will still be a great time.

RE: 2015 NW Gathering (planning)

TC Life, we are going to see if we have enough interest before we try to secure a site. At one time we have 40 rigs show up early on after starting with just a few and then it tapered off. If we can get 10 rigs or so that are interested then I will check with a couple of parks. I lean towards CLe Elum Whispering Pines as its centrally located to the state but if all the people are from the NW side of the mountains then we will look at a couple of other options. There is a very nice little campground in Raymond also that I have used for gatherings and its much cheaper than Whispering Pines. okay, cle elum is doable for me before a big trip to a rally in july. if it was more west then probably not. those funds and time thing. ill see what happens and maybe can attend. thanks!

RE: 2015 NW Gathering (planning)

I tried reading through all of this topic but maybe have missed it. do you have a location in the n.w. picked out yet? I see the date is yet to be decided. I know id like to attend a rally im not hosting and have to be responsible for. lol. I have another rally to attend so not sure if I could go, depends on location for me. ill be watching...not in the creepy crazy guy kind of way though.

truck camper fall colors caravan oct 10-12 2014 winthrop wa.

Here are the plans for the 9th Annual Fall Colors Caravan across the beautiful North Cascades Highway (aka Hwy 20) in Washington State. This is a 3 night caravan - October 10th, 11th & 12th. Just like last year, we are staying at Silverline Resort in Winthrop for TWO nights. The itinerary is: Depart Friday, October 10th @ 5 PM sharp! Hwy 530 is open for travel through the Oso area so the caravan will be departing from the Haggen (apparently now closed) store in Arlington that Friday night. coordinates are: N48.178808 W122.130035 for the meeting place. First night is at Sauk Campground near Concrete, then departing Saturday morning to cross the North Cascades Highway and Winthrop. The fires burning in the Methow Valley were posted as 100% contained today and the air is clear! Of course, fire season runs until mid-October so no telling what will occur between now and then. Depart Saturday, October 11th @ 9 AM for Winthrop via Hwy 20. Planned stops: Diablo Lake Overlook, Washington Pass (downhill side if pull out area open to accommodate caravan), and Hwy 20 pull out between Mazama & Winthrop. Restrooms are available at Diablo Lake if needed. After the last stop between Mazama & Winthrop, caravaners are free to stop in Winthrop to explore and shop or continue on to Silverline. If you plan on stopping, RV parking is available in the Red Barn lot on your right as you enter town. For those who are joining for the first time, Silverline Resort is located on Pearrygin Lake just outside of Winthrop. Address for Silverline Resort is 677 Bear Creek Rd, Winthrop, WA (48.494781, -120.165652). Please contact Silverline to make your site reservation. Their phone number is 509-996-2448. Then will also accept reservations through their website @ silverline We currently have the following sites allocated to the truck camper rally - 16, 15A, 14A, 14, 13A, 13, 12A, 12, 11, 10, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53. A map of the resort is found on the resort website. Please let them know you are with the truck camper group. It is also modern firearms deer season opener that weekend so make your reservation early! Saturday night will be the annual AWESOME potluck dinner at 6 pm. Bring a dish to share and your appetite! The theme for this year's potluck is Thanksgiving to celebrate our Canadian friends Thanksgiving holiday. Don’t forget to post on this thread what you are bringing and the list will be updated as information comes in. After dinner are the prize drawings immediately followed by the much anticipated roaring campfire and side-splitting tall tales (which get taller as the evening progresses). Breakfast will be served on Sunday morning. George has something other than biscuits and gravy he is planning. A group photo will be taken shortly thereafter and then you have the rest of the day to relax around the campground or explore more of what the beautiful Methow Valley has to offer. (If you need suggestions, let us know since this is our home area.) No formal activities are planned for Sunday except for breakfast and the group photo. Checkout is Monday morning before noon at your discretion. You are on your own from there sign up form: link

RE: my latest blog trip report - link

Thanks I never knew they had tours. Found web cite for their info about tours and more if anybody else is interested. It is now on our list. Good write up, always enjoy your updates. http://pse.com/aboutpse/ToursandRecreation/WildHorse/Pages/default.aspx P.S. Many years ago we broke down near there and mechanic charged us a "206" fee. Asked him "what is that about"? He said "We should stay on our own side of mountains!!!! (I laugh about it now, but didn't then). ouch...thats crazy... a 206 fee. well...if you are over here on this side of the state and need some help get a hold of me. ill make sure you go to a place that doesnt do that.

RE: my latest blog trip report - link

I'd enjoy it more if you posted it right here like The Master "Wahzoo" does. Can you top this? thanks for your input but i chose to do it the way i do. we all have choices and i am not the great wahzoo. no one can be like him nor do i try. that is too high of a bar to reach. my trip reports are not to "top" anyone.

RE: towing/roadside assistance

as others have stated...you are being smart checking into these things ahead of time. although you can do and check maintenance of everything on the truck something may still happen. there was no way i could have known my fuel pump (gas motor in my truck) would go out. the repair shop had the truck fixed a few hours later. things happen...they could always be worse. http://i1203.photobucket.com/albums/bb388/crazykid71/033_zps45bb31dc.jpg height=400

RE: towing/roadside assistance

well...i can tell you from recent experience on our trip a couple days ago that my regular insurance with roadside insurance works great. i am insured with safeco. i was 30 miles out from the closest town with a repair shop. they had to bring a big tow truck since i had my camper on the truck. the camper never had to be removed by the way. total bill for the tow was $395.50. ive already talked to the insurance and they will pay the bill in full. they will pay in full any tow to the nearest repair facility.

RE: Lost My Legs.........but in a good way.

that is a great idea. since my truck is just for the camper for the most part (I have another truck for other stuff) I rarely take my camper off. I keep the jacks on it for emergency only. NOW THANKS TO YOU (really...thank you) I will be measuring and checking if I can do the same thing. I cant believe I never thought of that...duh. thanks for sharing the idea.

RE: Planning trip

is it 15 days total for when you are in the seattle and portland area, do i understand you correctly? do you want suggestions on national parks kind of thing or things like...the pikes market in seattle type of thing? give me a shout when you are going back through my neck of the woods heading east. maybe we can meet up for lunch or something. good to see you are out and about. on edit: what time of the year? that can change things too.

RE: washington state truck camper rally- june 26-29 2014

some have asked about the potluck menu. i leave it up to a surprise. its never been an issue before. people bring all kinds of great food. so bring whatever you like. joanne and i will be bringing a apple chili. its a washington apple thing since it is the washington state rally. the food does not have to be themed, its just what we are doing. less than two weeks to go. the weather forecast will start to come into the picture here soon. it is always warmer in central washington.
