RE: hadley air horn solenoid disassembly

I use a small open wrench that just fits over the airline to help push in the collar (1/4 inch in my case). Often you have to push in on the airline simultaneously with the collar to get the line to release.

Kind of reminds me of the Foremost buses we used to ride in on the Columbia Icefields up in Alberta. Columbia Icefields

RE: Dynamax DX3

Have you gone to the Dynamax site yet? To be honest, I hadn't even heard of it until you posted about it. Looks like it is a 2014 model. They didn't mention anything about it at the Daytona rally. Looking thru the specs, I wouldn't even consider the ISB option, not enough power (torque) or drivetrain for that size of rig nor air brakes. The M2 HD chassis would be the only option I would consider which is basically the same as to what our DQ36XL is built on.

RE: Macerator or not?

We installed the Sani Con box mount about a year ago. It came in very handy on our last trip where we were pulling a car hauler. With the trailer attached, our tank outlet was often not very close to the sewer dump. With the macerator system, this was not an issue. This system can easily be bypassed and hook up my old 3 inch slinky if need be. Two things I didn't like however is the noise and the molded nozzle connector on the Sani Con system. For the noise, I plan on adding some foan rubber between the pump box and the storage compartment floor to see if that will isolate it and quiet it somewhat. For the nozzle, I built one similar to the one made by the Clean Dump macerator system, except the one I built has both 3 inch and 4 inch threads.

RE: How to remove stuck screws to repair water pump?

Don't know how well it will work on your RV pump screws, but I too am definitely a fan of Kroil. Use it on my swimming pool pumps when I crack them open to replace the bearings. Also I let it soak overnight on the spark plugs threads of my Triton V8 aluminum heads before changing plugs. Best penetrating lubricant I've used thus far.

RE: Alarm sounding

Might try here. Under each section, there is a breakdown by year then model. Winnebago docs

RE: Alarm sounding

You don't have after-market levelers installed, do you? It sounds a lot like the irritating alarm they place under the dash for jacks down warning that is tied to the ignition switch.

RE: Ford fuel pump

Replaced the fuel pump in my T-Bird years ago with a Carter. That replacement pump would whine and stumble quite a lot. Will never do that again. Also have had bad luck with Airtex/Wells parts. OEM for me. Just replaced the fuel pump/sender in my '01 F150 two weeks ago with a Motorcraft unit from RockAuto.

RE: New Rig 2nd AC Question

See if your thermostat has a fan selector switch. If it does, make sure it's in the "Auto" position. X2 Without knowing your make and model of AC unit and Thermostat setup, it is hard to say, but that is how ours acts if set to High Cool or Low Cool. In Auto our fans shut off a few seconds after compressor kicks off.

RE: CB antenna mounting

We used to purchase aluminum antenna mounts at 2way communication stores to mount antennas to the side of our doghouses (instrument houses). Sealing the mount was usually not an issue as long as we found solid backing. When running the coax make sure you leave enough slack for a drip loop so water doesn't follow the coax inside because even if you seal the grommet, the wind (especially on our truck mounted doghouses) and temp changes will usually eventually break the grommet seal. Best ground plane achieved in the center of metal roofs but not always practical nor possible.

RE: CB antenna mounting

Actually the mirror mounts like truckers use get very good reception and I have very little reflected energy. Been thinking of adding the passenger side antenna as well to gain the directionality afforded by that setup. For mirror mounted antennas you need good solid mirrors or the antennas can shake them badly. Have a glass mount VHF 2-way antenna on my pickup so I can clear parking garages. One thing to be careful of with glass mounts is that internal window shading can seriously degrade signal on some windows.

RE: CB antenna mounting

Ours is a combo AM/FM/CB antenna mounted on driver's mirror. The antenna lead comes in thru the mirror mount along with the mirror remote wires.

RE: Blue Ox on C Max

I was thinking of painting or better yet powder coating the umbilical connection black to match the grill area on our Ford Escape Hybrid.

RE: Satellite TV Question.. In-Motion king Dome

Latest CW Master catalog lists Winegard Roadtrip Mission and MiniMax as In-Motion capable. Also lists Winegard Trav'ler Slimline as SD & HD capable with Directv but this unit is stationary use only not In-Motion.

RE: Dynaquest MH's

I believe one of the units that OP referred to is a DQ300ST (31 ft) and the reason for selling is that the owners are getting out of RV'ing after 30+ years.

RE: Dynaquest MH's

We get between 8.5 to 10 mpg with our DQ36XL depending on how fast I drive and how much I'm towing, but am always at least 65 mph on the highway. I don't think that is too bad for a 26,000 lb vehicle with 20,000 lb towing capabilities. Not much worst than some of my pickup trucks which run down the road empty most of the time. So it will take much higher diesel costs before we curtail our RV travels significantly with our Dynaquest.

PSD on a Dynaquest? Dynaquest's are on Freightliner M2 chassis w/ MBE or Cummins

RE: Directv on two different TV

Yes the setup referred to above did use a coax switch box. Directv did not offer a HD service compatible with my In Motion dome dish and as such my dish and receivers do not have HDMI inputs/outputs. For the size of TV's in our RV, HD is not really necessary. Plus still prefer the separate control of the receivers. Could have used an IR repeater from the back but to each his own.

RE: Directv on two different TV

We use two directv receivers in our rig for two reasons. Better picture quality and better control with the remote, not for watching two different shows but the possibility is there. The original setup was a single receiver thru a video switch box to send signal to either front tv or rear. Rear picture quality was never as good as front even when I bypassed the switch box. I think it was due to the long coax run after the receiver. Also it was a pain to control the satellite rcvr from the bedroom. Found that the OEM manufacturer of our RV had already run the second coax from the dish to the bedroom. So installed a second rcvr in the bedroom and picture quality was much better, plus direct remote control without the gymnastics of having to point it down the hallway. Also installed an IR repeater for the front sat rcvr so we can leave that cabinet door closed. Like watching the evening news => happy campers now.
