RE: Are we crazy??!?

I find backing up our TT easier than the PU we used to have. It is less likely to jack-knife, you do need a spotter but it real easy to get used to.
If you are upgrading anyway go with the bigger Suburban or good used Excursion. Yes you can pull with the 1500 version but you dou have to watch your total weight more.

Tar Removal

I have a Jayco Featherlite with the fiberglass "Tufcoat" exterior. Any ideas on what would be a good product to remove the tar without damaging the fiberglass?

RE: Extra $ for the kids

Having 5 kids myself I can share your pain. We have never been denied a site due to 7 but have had to pay extra. Sometimes the charges are a bit steep but you can always move on to the next one. There are plenty to chose from in most places.

RE: So. Dakota to OH advise

Also check out the Badlands.
On our way out form NY to the Black Hills we used Chicago as a day stop to break up the trip. We went north through Wisconsin and Minnesota. Wisconsin Dells sounds like a good place for a day or 2 as well.

RE: Headed to Cherry Hill this saturday

When I have toured DC it has been mostly in February. At that time of the year we had to do some of our sightseein in the dark. In my opinon some of the monuments were even better at night, especially the Lincon Memorial, Vietnam and Korean War Memorials. Don't let nightfall stop you.

RE: Black Hills SD, Any SP's with Electric?

We stayed at Custer SP last year and had electric. Only issue was dump stations of wich it was 20 - 25 minutes in the wrong direction. Beautiful park with nice campsites though.

RE: RV parking at Niagara Falls?

We parked on the US side with our 30' TT before heading over to the Candian side so if you are crossing the border then parking is fine. On the Canadian side I do remember parking up river that can accommodate larger rigs.

If you are going to Cedar Point then their campground is the best.

RE: Delaware?

For the cost of the ferry I would take th NJ Turnpike to Delaware and just drive from there. The GSP can be brutal on summer weekends and you don't have to stop for all the toll booths.

RE: CT to NJ which way is better?

The exit for 17 into NJ is 15 on the NYS Thruway. It depends upon where in CT you are coming from. Along the coast I would go over the Tappanzee Bridge then take the Garden State Parkway south, you could then meet up with 17s or stay on depending upon where you want to go. From well inland take 84 over the Newburgh/Beacon Bridge then head south on the NY Thruway to X15.

Rt 26 vs Rt 77 to Rt 85 from Rt 81

We will be traveling Rt 81 south from PA, MD, WV, VA and have to get over to Rt 85 in SC. The fastest way is Route 77 through Charlotte NC which does go through the mountains. An alternative is Rt 26 from TN through NC and into SC but that would be about 45 minutes longer. I am not familiar with Rt 26, does anyone know how it compares with Rt 77?
If it is less mountainous, I can make up some of the time and have less stress on the TV and myself. :h

RE: Cooking with cast iron

I had a roommate in collage who thought they were doing me a big favor when he got my pan all shiny. :E It was never the same. :(
I do use soap sometimes though as there is stuff you need to get off but wipe it afterwards with oil.
With all the new fangled stuff they come out with it's still the oldies but goodies that work the best.
