RE: Good Sam Emergency Road Service

Saved my wife alone and at the airport with a dead battery. Left me on the side of the road for 2 hours with a flat.

RE: My first 5th wheel trip coming up... flat tire question?

I have had one and the boom was loud enough to get my attention and as I looked the alligator was flying into traffic.

RE: Proper method to lift trailer for tire removal

I just place a block of wood under the good tire and pull up onto it raising the bad one off the ground

RE: Pulling the trigger on a Ram 5.9L mega cab

I would take the 07 5.9. I have an 06 all stock that pulls great and it is my daily driver. If you think the price is right then go for it.

RE: Two Way Handsets for Backing

We use them all the time. sometimes we are backing into some tight places or in the dark. We tried hand signals but the radios are WAAAAAYYYY easier

RE: Adjusting Pin Box?

Wow you and I almost have the same set up. I am in the opposite direction sitting an inch or two nose high. did you lower your truck or raise the trailer? I am not sure I would vary from the bolt pattern on the king pin, all that I have seen are in the same pattern.

RE: How long do you stay in a travel trailer?

We have camped for up to two weeks in our rig with hookups. We can last 4 days without hookups.

RE: "How-to" to properly weigh a rig

We just did this a couple of evenings ago.. First without the trailer weighed the truck front axel, whole truck and rear axel. write down all these numbers. Next with the trailer first weighed the front TV axel then the rear TV axel (new weight minus old weight is pin weight) then pulling forward we weighed the front trailer axel then both trailer axels then just the rear axel. In my case the front axel was slightly heavier than the rear. Next we pulled forward of the scale and backed up putting just the rear curb tire on the scale then both curb side tires then just the front. This gave us individual tire weight by doing some simple math.
Hey Tjar66,
I've found this thread interesting in the actual weighing of separate wheels and sides of the rig.
What did you see on your finding separate weights that would make any difference in how you load, pressurize left or right/front or rear tires, or anything different on your trailer??
Other than personnal knowledge of these weights, I've never heard of such a thing. Even commercial vehicles only weight axles, not individual wheel weights/tire loads.
Just wondering what would make you and others do it?
Regards, Hamshog
I weighed each individual wheel for tire loads. With our rig being a toyhauler, we are loading 4 full size quads, gear and food for two adults and two teenagers. Not to including 100 gallons of water for extended boondocking, 35 gallons of fuel for quads and genny.
This and I was curious to see how well the trailer was balanced from the factory. My finding were very positive, the front axel was a couple hundred pounds heavier than the rear when we were empty.

RE: Another Towing Question

If trans is hunting for gears or locking and unlocking there is slip happening and it is not good on the TC. If you can speed up or down a couple miles and hour it could help. Regearing is another choice.

RE: Trip planning

I would just as soon pack it up and go. My wife on the other hand likes everything planned so I let her. I do plan out if we are going somewhere that may need it or and excursion that I know will be popular.

RE: RV caulking

tvman is correct use the proflex. Now the only question is white or clear? I don't know if anyone else had this problem but I found that if I cut the tip donw just to the minimum way to much caulk comes out and I make a huge mess. I tired using a metal coat hanger and melting it into the tip and it worked pretty well.

RE: Travler trailer, a self contained unit?

We have a 5er and use our genny a lot. It does suck for the kids to be penned up in the truck so I try to keep our road hours down and stop somewhere that they can "unwind" as well. RV parks with pools work well. We have even been known to stop for the heck of it because there was an amusement park or water park to play at for the day. If I could find a motor home that would fit 4 atv's and get us away from the crowds I would choose that instead of a trailer.

RE: Fixed it myself :)

The new tool was a cut off wheel. Yes it does feel good to do it myself and I am sure I took better care than someone else would have. I am attempting to post the pics of the damage with no luck.

RE: Question about Winter w/Toyhauler

I would winterize and just in case we get another freak snow/freeze storm like last year. It's only a few bucks to winterize and not that hard. Looks like we may be close if you need a hand let me know.

I am a desert and beach camper and like my music as much as the next guy. I would like to have the choice to hear the music I want to hear opposed to the Polka and Lawrence Welk music that the blue hair is moshing too down the beach.
