RE: Radio sounds in background on computer

I had the same problem a while ago and it turned out to be a virus. I did a restore to a date before the problem began and it went away. Just my 2 cents.

RE: Radio sounds in background on computer

It's a virus. You should restore to a point back to before it began. Also run a virus scan as well. Good luck

RE: Re-use the "pink stuff"

If you get it at Ace hardware in the fall, they usually have it on sale for $2.99 a gal with a $1/gal rebate on up to 3 gals.

Anyone repaired a cracked AC shroud?

The shroud on my roof air conditioner is cracked. I was wondering if anyone had the same problem and repaired theirs. If so, how did you repair it? I was thinking of something like Gorilla tape (a kind of duct tape). Has anyone used that to make the repair? Thanks.

RE: Water Heater Clean Out - White Powder

Not sure if it is calcium but I get the same residue and as far as I know, it is normal. I just flush out as much as I can when I change the anode.

RE: CW does it again

Just now looked at CW on-line. The item I want for DW's Mother's day is available with "Internet only" savings of $4. Good deal but on check-out they added $9.00 for 14 day shipping or $14.00 for 7 day shipping! Great deal --NOT. I thought it was supposed to be free shipping for GS members. CW tires me out. Lots of apologies keep coming but they keep doing the same thing. Free shipping only if your order is at least $99.

HELP- Need key for Windows XP sp 3

Went to use my desktop computer for the first time in several months. It would start booting and then shut down and start booting again. It just kept doing that. I started to re-install XP but can't find the activation key. Does anyone have an activation key that I can use. Thanks.

RE: Mobil RV Techs in Nassau County on Long Island

Called a local RV dealer and he recommended a tech to me. I needed a control board in my roof air replaced. He came Saturday and took care of it. Very reasonable rates.

RE: Radiator Fan Bolt Failure

I am trying to find out the extent of this problem. This problem came from the Forest River Forums so it is a small sample but there were several who had this issue. I would like to find out if it is a wider problem that should be addressed by Freightliner.

Radiator Fan Bolt Failure

A poster on another forum posted that he bought a 2009 Forest River 390BH Berkshire in May 2011 with 12500 miles on a Freightliner Raised Rail chassis with a 6.7l ISB engine. At about 31600 miles, he experienced a sudden engine overheat. The radiator hub had detached from back face of engine and fan tilted and seized in the shroud. Three of the four bolts holding the hub to engine had broken and the fourth had backed out about 2mm. Repair required removal of radiator and removal of broken bolts. A fifth hole was drilled and tapped to improve strength of hub to engine interface by ATC Freightliner techs in OKC. They also commented they'd seen several of these types of repairs because original bolts are of inadequate strength and penetrate engine block only about 12mm. The radiator hub is a Freightliner add-on to the Cummins engine before the coach ready chassis is delivered to Forest River. Has anyone else seen this problem and is it a frequent occurrence? Is there a DOT recall or tech advisory from Freightliner, Cummins? It cost $2400 to repair. I am concerned because I have a 2008 coach on a Freightliner chassis and worry that I might run into the same situation. Also, if Freightliner knows that the bolts are inadequate, why hasn't there been a recall to replace the bolts? Thanks, Tom

Mobil RV Techs in Nassau County on Long Island

Does anyone know of any Mobil RV techs that will come to Nassau County on Long Island? I can't seem to find one. Thank you for any assistance you can provide with this problem.

RE: Thank Goodnes for Surge Protector

Progressive is a great company to work with and they stand behind their product giving by a lifetime warranty. Also, they are very responsive when it comes to a warranty claim.

RE: Fort Wilderness how the heck do you....

When do a search and only get prices for the cabins, that means there are no camp sites available. You will need to keep checking the site every week or so to see if any sites become available.

RE: Association Island 1000 island area??

How was the campground in general? Was it well kept and how were the sites? Was the pool very cold?

Welting on the front of the passenger seat arm is worn

I just noticed the other day that the welting (that small round piece of vinyl between 2 flat pieces) on the front of the passenger seat arm is worn down to the threads. Has anyone experienced anything similar and if so, how was it repaired? Thanks.

RE: Finding fresh tires

Have you tried Costco? I was looking for 255 80x22.5 and they didn't have any in stock. They said that they could order them for me. They ordered them around June I think and they came in arount August 1 (don't quote me on the dates). The tires that came in were like 3 weeks old. Couldn't ask for fresher than that!!

RE: Replacing Haldex Air Dryer

Paul, Are talking about the brass valve on the side of the dryer? If so, join the club. My self and a few others ran into the same situation. I tried easy outs, pipe wrench and vice grips. Nothing would budge the stub that was left in the dryer. I was lucky because Freightliner put the incorrect valve (150 psi instead of 200 psi) in when the built the chassis and J called them and they sent me a new valve. When I went to change it, the old one snapped off. I complained because if they had put the correct valve in I wouldn't have been in that situation so they sent me a complete new air dryer. If they hadn't, I don't know what I would have done because I still haven't been able to remove the broken piece, even with the dryer off the chassis. Don't know what to say except - Good Luck!!! Let us know how you make out.
