RE: RV Parks in Saratoga Springs ?

we have stayed at Saratoga RV Park. The location is great! Park is ok for a place to stay, not so great for camping, if you know what I mean. Some people were having electrical issues when we were there, we did not, Adventure Bound camp ground is near by, not as close to the track, it is huge, with lots of stuff going on for kids etc.. another option,

RE: List of places to visit, recommendations?

About 2-3 years before we retired, I had each state mail me their travel information. (I like paper copies for browsing) I then developed folders of each state similar to what you are doing. We added agri-tourism (wineries, breweries, farms/farmers markets, cheese, syrups...) Another area of interest for us, is shopping in renovated warehouses, factories, and even have found a couple of old hospitals.. Have fun planning I loved it, almost as much as traveling.

RE: Winnebago Destination

we have a 2008 winnie destination, 37G. We have put 25,000 miles on it in 3 years. Had to have a control board replaced last summer. (part was about $2,000). Otherwise no problems and we would buy it again!

RE: blue ridge parkway

plan some time for the village/city of Ashville. It is unique, with interesting shops, and people watching. There is also a great garden there , not as big or fancy as Biltmore but still worth a stop if you like that kind of thing.

RE: Western PA Campground Needed

there is a campground in Washington Pa. that has full hook ups, a KOA. We stayed a few years back and I remember the road going in being a little tight, but doable. The park itself was hilly but again doable. we were in a 34ft. MH towing at the time.

RE: Decent RV Park near NYC?

you can do a search on this forum, type in nyc in the search box, be sure to check the search only in parks and you should gets lots of information. this is a common topic and there are 2 or 3 favorite places with discussion abt the differences. New Jersy and Conn. are close to NY so you may find those places reccomended.

RE: Any non-retired people in Highways Mag??

we are younger retires and find lots of events/rally's are set up for older people. Just look at the entertainment at the GS/CW rally..beach boys//beach men. Reba and Wayne Newton? I agree the people who have been very active in these organizations have every right to have the events geared towards them..just don't be surprised when no one comes anymore.

web site problem

wanted to put in my choice of magazines.. which I am positive and excited about, but the web site is not cooperating. When you click on the link to make your choice the next page is an error message. Thanks for taking care of this.

RE: Washer dryer

docj is correct. If you do not have the manual get it, it has a good trouble shooting guide!

RE: How insane is this?

we fulltimed for 3 years. Have an exit plan, for sure. Then I have a question for the 2 of you, what does living full time in an RV mean? Does it mean finding a place to park one for extended periods of time? does it mean traveling constantly? define it. Once you understand what you will be doing other things fall into place. We bought a house for winter, found we did not like to travel in the US in winter months and living in the rv sitting still for 4-5 months not our idea of freedom, more boredom. Now we have a house, northern friends come visit and then when the weather warms up off we go! Different strokes for different folks.

RE: reservation system?

interesting discussion. I like online when planning ahead(destination campgrounds)I use the phone around noon to make stop over plans. I seldom want to just drive in, want to know where we are landing at the end of the day.

RE: Upstate NY

Looks like you are doing western NY so with the kids if you want an amusement park there is Darrien Lake between Buffalo and Rochester. Kazoo factory and Jello Museum in the area. Lake Erie and Ontario, for 2 of the great lakes..

RE: Filling MH Propane...

many places will fill your MH propane tank. Actually as I think about it, if they say they fill/have propane we have always been able to get it. Usually tell them when we check in that we need propane and they will have someone meet you at the tank. Sometimes easier to unhook tow vehicle first, ask at desk.

RE: Good Sam RV Club vs AAA

I have heard from a couple of people that AAA routing does not always accommodate the big rigs. Maybe its time to think about a MH GPS for your routing, and a truckers map. Coach-net for road side service!

RE: Miles per day

We have used the Ohio RV stops a couple of times. we have a 37ft class a and we tow a car. One place has pull thru sites and we did not have to unhook. actually had neighbors there, and shared a few drinks and stories. The other one we used is back in, so we had to unhook the car. The car is on a dolly, no backing that sucker up! $20, 50 amp power. Both times in summer, and seems safe to us. Saw police patrol a couple of times.

RE: New York State Parks

Dutch gave you great information. Each campground is different, but I do not know of any that have full hook ups. Look up nysparks.com and there is a map and each park has its description.

RE: Campgrounds near Badlands

I know you want full hook up..but FYI the national park has great sites, no sewer hook up but power and water. The dump station is easy on your way out. the sites are pull thru, and the scenery is amazing.
