RE: Re-covered or put new foam in your seat cushions?

Don't do anything until you have used the cushions a few times. Upholstery foam needs to "settle down" sometimes when new. I will sometimes get a client who is concerned her new sofa is too firm or too high when they first get it and about a month later after use it is just fine. (I'm an interior designer and deal with furniture and reupholstery all the time) It's just the nature of the material. Enjoy...

RE: sales tax on site?

Just made a reservation at a campground in Pigeon Forge Tennessee and on the reservation confirmation it clearly lists a Lodging Tax.

RE: Re-covered or put new foam in your seat cushions?

Foam is a petroleum based product as the price of oil goes up so does the price of foam. Also the foam you may find at JoAnn fabrics or Hancock fabrics may not be dense enough for your dinette seat. You may need to talk to a reupholsterer to get the firmness you may want.

RE: Doing the Distillery tours in Kentucky

The liquor sales laws in the Bardstown area is why a lot of the distilleries cannot offer up samples. They can sell the bourbon sealed in bottles. Also do not expect it to be cheaper than you can get at your local liquor store. They will not compete in pricing with the stores. Makers Mark has a sign at their check out that says just that.

RE: Doing the Distillery tours in Kentucky

When you leave the campground turn right and not too far on the right (maybe less than a mile) is the Kentucky Bourbon Heritage Center at Heaven Hill Distillery. Great place to start your tour. Then go on to Makers Mark. Be sure to take the tour there too. Each distillery does something a little different from the others and it is interesting to see the subtle differences. By the way, My Old Kentucky Home State park campground is one of our favorites. Always well maintained and quiet in the evening. Enjoy!

RE: leveling jacks

RE: How to make some easy money

I live in Cincinnati. Note to self - Avoid: Kroger - People will be stocking up for a blizzard. Home Depot - Snow shovels and rock salt. The Party Source - Beer and snacks. Well, I may hit the Party Source. :) Can't be too careful. What do those people at Krogers do with all that milk, bread and toilet paper? At the most you might be stuck in your house for 8 hours. Just chill people!

RE: Kentucky & Tennessee RV parks

Stayed at Elizabethtown Crossroads Campground last year over Mother's Day weekend. There was a Gold Wing motorcycle group there. Had the best time watching them parade out for their night ride Friday night. Some of the lights they had on those bikes were really cool. Liked the campground too.

RE: I haven't told anybody

I worked a part time job because I enjoyed the work. It was different from what I did full time. When it quit being fun I quit the job. Never looked back. Life is too short to not enjoy what you do. Best of luck...

RE: OK... So here is my pride!!! I'm a rookie

First we got a 28' TT. Loved it until our Dodge Ram truck gave its all after the first year of pulling. Faced with buying a new truck we decided to get a Class C motorhome instead (see my signature pic) That was 12 years ago and we never looked back. It wasn't the smartest financial deal I ever did but I have been happier in the long run. Life it too short to wonder what if, go for it!

RE: Christmas In July Camping....

There are several state parks here in Ohio that have Christmas in July weekend. Everybody decorates with lights and Santa comes in an Hawiian shirt and red shorts. We went to two of them last year and it was a hoot.

RE: Using a tow dolly

The answer is yes. We towed mine on our dolley before I modified it for 4 wheels down.

RE: Mildew on Memory Foam Mattress

Do you have a vent over your bed that might have a slow leak? You mattress might be acting like a big sponge with a slow drip and the accumulating moisture is collecting on the bottom of the mattress.

RE: RV/MH Hall of Shame?

RE: sewing on the road

I take the Singer Heavy Duty 4411 machine with me. Got it from Joann Fabrics. It is on sale now for $149. Mine fits perfectly in a rolling case I got at Joann as well. It does enough for me while on the road. Not as fancy as our workroom machines but it does fine. I like the rolling case as I can fit lots of thread and accessories all in the same case.

RE: OK, where's the spare?

Ours is mounted underneath the rear like a pickup truck would be. It cranks down. We have had to use it 4 times in the last year as a bad batch of Cooper tires one by one blew up and had to be changed along the road. It made it easier and faster for my Good Sam Emergency Road service to come and change the tire since it was already mounted and ready to go.

RE: How Cold Is Too Cold?

Paullac we have had no problems. Last night was nothing. Tonight we put the heat on low, opened the cabinet doors and that will be fine. We are going out this weekend and it is going to back up to the 70's in the day again. So we will put off winterizing at least for now. Good luck...

RE: How Cold Is Too Cold?

Paullac, We live in Butler County which is one county north from Cincinnati as you know. We bring our unit home from the storage lot and plug it in and turn on the furnace for the night. It is enough heat to keep us out of trouble. We too are using our camper two more times before winterizing. This has worked for us for years. Good luck....

RE: Payment

It has nothing to do with affording it. Why use my money when I can use yours with no interest. I have clients who could pay cash for large purchases if they want but use 6 months same as cash or 12 months interest free all the time. It's just managing your money smart.
