RE: St. Louis Mo camp ground

If you stay at casino queen, the casino will take you to the ballpark on a bus and bring you back after the game. no charge, no parking, easy as it gets. Anything else in St. Louis you will have to drive to or take the rail. Not hard to get over the river to St Louis, but DO NOT GO INTO EAST ST. LOUIS,go only to the interstate. If you have kids, lots to do in St L. Zoo is great (free, pay for parking) grants farm (clydsdale horses), transportation museum in southwest county, tour of Bud brewery, think they still have riverboat cruises, and of course the arch and museum below it. Have fun.

Gulf Breeze in Gulf Shores will do what you want.

RE: $7000 to spend on tow vehicle, suggestions?

I'd look for a 3/4 ton crew cab with the 6.0 and the 4l80 tranny. Will pull your trailer all day long with the kids in the back seat. Could probably get a not too old one for the money you want to spend. I pulled a 10,500 trailer with one and didn't have any problems.

RE: Cooper Roadmaster tires?

Might think about Continental, I had them and I liked them. Unless they have changed in the last two years they are made in the USA.

RE: Fuel Cost Stability-Tank half full?

We need to make our congress pass a law that the speculators have to physically posses the oil they trade, and must keep it a minumum of 60 days before it can be sold or traded agaim. I bet they wouldn,t touch the stuff, and you would end up with real market prices. But getting congress to do anything isn't going to happen without a revolution.

RE: genny hook up

soling2003, thanks for replying. After thinking more about this I think you have the best solution. Another 50 amp plug just like the one I already have and use an adapter. Probably would be the safest too. Thank You and all for replying.

RE: genny hook up

Let me make my first post a little more clear. I have all of the adapters to hook my genny up now. The problem is that the electric connection is on the drivers side of the trailerl So I can't just plug it in going down the road. What I have in mind is to put a 30 amp plug under the overhang , where I can plug it into the genny at the pin box. The cord itself I want to wire directly into the surge protector. Therefore my question is: Does it make a difference which hot leg I wire into the surge protector? Thank You.

genny hook up

I have 50 amp trailer. I am wanting to put a 30 amp plug in in addition to the 50 amp plug in. I want to do this so I can run my portable genny while going down the road or in rest areas while taking a break. The 50 amp plug has two hot legs, a nuetral, and a ground. A 30 amp has a hot leg, nuetral and a ground. My question is: Would it make a difference as to which hot leg on the 50 amp i connected the 30 amp to? Thank you.

RE: Anyone been here?

If just overnite, how about I-35 rv park just north of Waco. Nice place. reasonable cost, and even has a small resturant with good home cooked meals. It is on the frontage road on the West side of I-35 and very easy to get to.

RE: Trains and more trains...

I like the trains. Every time one goes by, just reminds me how my pension gets paid, so I can go camping some more. More trains would mean less trucks on the road .

RE: full timing age/don't flame me

You are not by yourself. I am 69, wife a little less, we have been snowbirds now for several years. We are leaving this year and in the spring we are not coming back. Just bought a new diesel truck and we are going to see if we can wear it out. Moved my daughter in my home and I dont intend to kick her out for several years. Our thoughts are, If we don,t do it now , then when? Can't wait to get started.

escapees and passport america

Going south for the winter and not coming back for at least a couple of years. Would escapees and passport america be a good thing to have? We will be moving around and staying some places for a month or so. I'm inclined to join, but would like to know if others use it often and if you would recommend them?

RE: Stress crack

I had a crack just like the one you are describing. Factory said to drill hole, I did and no more crack and then traveled about 1000 miles. Took to factory for repair. Cause was a brace either was not properly welded or came loose. Repair was made and more braces were added. So far so good, but have not put many miles on it sincr repaired. Trailer is a jayco and repairs were done at jayco factory. Tech at factory told me that crack would not have gotten any bigger if not repaired, so you might want to drill, fill with sealant and watch for a while. It is a very excpensive repair to repair the way the factory did.

RE: South Padre island

Make sure that you look at your site before you sign on the dotted line. Every time I have been there, they want to put me in a site that is too small when they have bigger sites available. Outside of that an ok place. Be sure you go to Dirty Al's, right down the street.

RE: Age

Thanks to all who answered. We have been going to Texas for several winters now. But now all the kids and grandkids are grown and they don't need us anymore. I have had heart problems, back problems, and now some knee problems, other than that we are both ok. No problems driving. Big question is can we give up the house? So we have to figure that one out. We both say yes. but I am not sure that my boss might be speaking with a forked tongue. I'd sure hate to let it go and then find out is was not what she wanted. So i guess we will have to do some more thinking. Thanks to all who responded.

RE: recommendations for a nice campground in Joplin Mo?

The casino a Joplin (downstream ?) is building a new rv park. Should be open shortly, maybe in the fall? CXheck with casino. When I saw it in May, it looked like it might be nice when finished.

RE: where to camp in St.Louis Mo?

From the direction you are coming from, Red Barn Rend would be the easiest to get to. At the I70-I55 jct, take I-55 north to the 1st exit and you are there. Nice place and supernice owners, 20 minutes to downtown St. Louis. Casino Queen is just off your route also. It is a little expensine (57.00) for a pull thru now. It is right across the river from downtown St Louis. It is in E. St Louis, you are safe at the campground, however you don't want to go sightseeing or wandering around in E St Louis. Otherwise, the only other places I know of are on the west side of St louis and a lot farther away from the arch and downtown.

RE: I-71 between Louisville and Cincinnati

Went last year to the race, no way I would ever go back. Waited 6 hrs after the race and still was stop and go bumper to bumper all the way back to I-75 at 6am in the morning. Even if they added ways to get in and out of the track , I don't see how it would be any different once you get to i-71. not for me.
