RE: Not allowed to dump gray water??

There are lots and lots of CG 's in Calif that do not want even tent campers to dump their gray water out on the ground/bushes they have washing stations.....This doesn't mean people follow the rules however...
I have NEVER EVER been to a campground where you can't put it in your own holding tank,,,,But have been at CG"s that do not have a dump station for RV's..........
When you think about our gray water holding tanks and how smelly they can get I'm very glad dumping just anywhere isn't ALLOWED ........

RE: Transporting mobility scooter with 5th wheel

Randy, I'm sorry that you are having to fight this pancreatic cancer too....My husband was told this last Oct that he has it also. he was to have the Whipple in Nov and 4 1/2 hours into his surgery his heart couldn;'t handle the surgery. So now our only hope is Chemo and Radiation. Which has been on hold because his surgery site was infected and being a diabetic as you know things do not heal well. Now looks like he'll be able to start treatments in Feb....FINGERS CROSSED....
Love the scooter you have picked out I had one like this a few years ago I've had lots of back surgeries but am doing well now.....Take it easy out there on the road and do enjoy the time you have and the travels and places yet to see.....I HATE CANCER....Am praying you find a way to beat it or at least add lots of years.........Blessings, travel-lady

RE: LIFE ON HOLD

Well Hubby had a CT Scan done at the radiologist this morning they marked the spot and now it's wait for a phone call to come back for another scan to make sure they still like the spot they marked.......so looks like the earliest his treatments will get started will be early Feb....
Just doing this has wore him out and he is now taking a nap....so my job is to keep him strong enough so we do not encounter another delay......

RE: LIFE ON HOLD

our life's work now is beating the beast too, and as such we have the farm on the market and are figuring out which is the next best step.
my dh has been battling leukemia and bladder cancer since 2002 and if his blood looks good next week we are out of here as soon as we can unload this place. we aim to spend winters near the grandkids in florida and probably the summers near our home in vermont. if he needs chemo again we'll get it where ever we are or drive home to our local team if we want.
it's scary as hell deciding to live on his pensions, but i suspect we'll feel incredibly free without a mortgage or property taxes, snow to shovel off of the roof, tenants to take care of, and a myriad of other things. i love my work caring for mildly disabled people but i can do that anytime, anywhere i believe.
of course we'll be trading some of those homeowner problems for new and improved ones which come from life in a tiny rolling space, but it's now or never if we're going to explore this fab country of ours.
jingles for healthier days ahead for all.
Good luck with this new adventure you are about to take.....Enjoy yourselves Glad your husband is feeling strong enough to travel.......

RE: LIFE ON HOLD

Stay strong Do not let depression set in!! Beat the thing!! If you need to get angry; do so. If you need to cry; do so. If you need to scream,; do so. But; Live, dream, and do all the things you wished for. And how do I know this??? I survived the most severe type of Heart Attack this last March, with a 17% survival rate. As I lain on the OR table I told them if I didn't make it there were phone #'s in my wallet to call and tell everyone I am sorry I couldn't say my final goodbyes. As the Cardio was catherizing the artery in my right arm and this man was working furiously to unblock the Left side arteries; I knew I was in good care. I receievd 2 stents that day. Two days after I was cathered again and another stent and an opening of a smaller artery in the Right coronary artery. I can't do what I did before this happened; but I'm not going to let it get me depressed.
We are the survivors; there is a purpose for us; hold your head up and push on. You can do it! Trust in what you believe; have more Faith than you ever had before. Thanks for letting me share!
Thank you for your kind words I'm so glad you beat the odds Our Faith is what carries us through all of this..... Blessings, carol

RE: LIFE ON HOLD

I hope the spring camping trip allows you to have some time away and some laughter. My granddaughter was born at 25 weeks more than a year ago weighing 1 lb 15 oz. After 81 days in the NICU she is doing great. During this time my DIL used a quote that I can't get out of my heat. "You never know how strong you can be until being strong is the only choice you have." Prayers and best wishes.
Thank you and I love this quote and am going to use it.......So glad your grand-daughter is doing well......our grandkids are such a blessing........

RE: LIFE ON HOLD

DW had a colon blockage 3 years ago that was found to have cancer. She went threw Chemo but has not allowed it to interfere with her camping. Summer of 2010 her blood count went up and cancer was now found in lesions on her liver which is stage 4 colon cancer. We still went to FL were she started treatment there. We went camping all summer also helping out at Camping World Grill-Fests at Belleville, MI which she loves to do.
We are now on hold till next week on leaving for FL. She will be see a Cryogenic Surgeon to see if she a candidate to have the 3 small lesions zapped. If she can have it do right away, we will wait a little longer but if it will be a month or more she says we're leaving for FL.
We have learned that cancer is one of the worst diseases to treat and it is with you the rest of your life. She refuses to let the Chemo treatment stop her. They have made her so sick she can hardly move but to her the RV is relief away from all the pain.
So glad to hear you are still getting your camping trips in enjoy them as long as you are able. Wish I could drive our rig but I can't so when my husband is down so are our trips.....I hope and pray she beats this hateful "CANCER"

RE: LIFE ON HOLD

We've been down that road with radiation and chemo.
What we found is that a few days of camping at a park close to home did wonders for our spirits during this trying time.
It may take getting some help from friends or family with preparations and/or set-up, but having these outings to look forward to definitely helped my husband and myself get through a difficult time.
Best Wishes,
Sandi
Thank you we are hoping for a spring camping trip close to home with some of our many camping buddies. They plan on getting our trailer and helping set it up. Just hope my husband is doing OK so we can make this happen. This has really been a roller coaster ride nothing can prepare you for this journey......But having good friends and family makes the ride better.....

RE: Do You Back-flush

We solved the problem many years ago.
We buy spring water for our drinking/cooking and stopped using a filter ten years ago.
Jack L
We still use a filter due to the fact it clogs our water heater with sludge if we don't....Yes, we do have an anoid rod but this helps things do much better. We have very hard water in our area....
