RE: Uncrowded National Parks, what month has the least Visitors?

Was suprised how many vistors to Joshua Tree in July & Aug.,those are the months we try to be out of here. But then Death Valley is sort of busy as folks want to know what 120 feels like. I have the answer REAL HOT, turn on your oven if you want to know, it's easier.

RE: Hitch Mount Cargo Rack

Carry my motorcycle up front works great, except for bugs on the 1 side of the bike.Never any problems with overheating and I live in the desert and it's hot.Night driving is another story.

RE: Roof rack... what good is it?

I've used mine a few times for longer trips.I put a piece of 1/2 plywood on the roof then milk crates with gallon water jugs(drinking)maybe a 5gal spare propane tank, which I won't do again. I've had more trouble with the ladder.

RE: Boondocking at King of the Hammers

Not 10,000 but 30,000 expected. Rode out yesterday on my bike, talk about dust, WOW. they were coming in like crazy, including the big boys with there company semis. Lots of cool looking rigs. Is one busy place, and it was just set up day. If you don't want noise I'd go up to JTNP and get out of there, what did you expect with thousands of off road racers?

RE: quartszite trip

Yeh, lots of rain. Camped near Bouse, started raining Fri night and poured all night, got to love it living in the desert. Drove home to Joshua Tree, signs of rain all the way but the closer to home ,less, but we still got some rain.Water was out when we got home till late Sat night, finally on and got a needed shower.

Anyone ever seen one of these out there? A wood cabin in the bed of your truck?

Purchase the book by Stan Jones(I beleive) if going out on the lake, a must. It is huge, bays look like the lake, very easy to get turned around.

RE: Another red light camera area.

Was nailed in Victorville,Ca. this fall on the Bear Valley Cut-Off BEWARE!!
They sent me nice clear pictures of me behind the wheel, front&rear of truck w/plates, and the intersection with the Red light and my rig behind the cross walk. 1st ticket in 50+ yrs. of driving. $500!!!! Could have fought and probably got it cut in half, but fuel to get there, day in court, lunch, fuel home might of saved $100. Just paid it and learned a lesson.

RE: Time to Move

Happens all the time. I think a lot of campers are insecure so they park close when there's a ton of room to feel secure. Best to just move. There's so much room in Q, no need to crowd.
