RE: Slide toppers for Apine 3500re

The dw and I are wanting to add slide toppers to our Alpine 3500re. The dealer says there would be an issue with the slide on the awning side of rv. They said there is not enough clearance between the slide and awning support arm to install the topper. Has anyone else had this issue with their rv? I was really looking forward to not climbing on top of rv to brush off the slides.:( First, talk directly with the factory to see if there really is a clearance issue. Definitely the common A&E toppers do have arms that extend out quite far and may present a clearance problem, but the factory should have the real answer. Second, if there is a problem, then look at Girard's G-5000 slide out awning, it mounts the roller tube on the coach rather than the slide out room and may not have the same issue with clearance. Pretty expensive, but it may be a solution. I emailed the factory and got a reply back. His answer was very vague and non committal. In other words he did not really know. Go figure!

RE: Slide toppers for Apine 3500re

Our dealer installed slide toppers before we took delivery of our 2013 3555RL. I do say the awning comes very close to the slide when extending out, but it works. Which brand of slide toppers do you have on your 3555RL? A&E, Carefree?

You can see it at autochipsdirect.com if you would like to look. Thanks, AZRDRNER Check out the Smarty Jr. programmer. http://madselectronics.com/SmartyJR.html

RE: Electric fireplace parts?

Guess you will have to book a trip to China. Sometimes, you can't help it but buy American if you can. If it was made in China I can almost bet it has timed obsolesence. No need to go to China. My dealer orderd the part from Keystone and will be here when I have my rear window replaced. Not cheap either!

RE: Electric fireplace parts?

Did you try their web site www.clandmanufaturing.com and the contact us phone numbers. They have several and the BBB rated them with an "A". Okie I tried all the numbers. Disconnected and no longer in service.:(

Electric fireplace parts?

I am trying to find where to order replacement parts for our fireplace. The model is #BLT-999A-2 and is China made. The owners manual gives a company called C-Land Manufacturing, Inc. The phone number is no longer valid. Imagine that! Now where to find the front access panel cover to replace the damaged one?

RE: MOR/ryde Or Demco Glide Ride Pin Box

18 months with the MorRyde and enjoy it. Will it remove all chucking; no but it removed most of it. Only air ride or air hitch will eliminate it. X2 on the MorRyde. :)

RE: Worst kind of vermin!

Our rig got broken into. The shop recommended replacing the entire window frame instead of just the section that was broke...to insure no leaks. Since, my wife has printed placards that go in all windows saying that all valuables have been taken out;eloctronics, booze,TVs, stereos, jewelry. Haven't been bothered since. I am looking at just replacing the broken parts on the Kinro window. I called the dealer today about repair parts and their reply was to notify my insurance. She said they replace the whole window and they are expensive. Do I pay the insurance deductible or higher insurance rates by filing a claim? I am screwed either way! :S

RE: Worst kind of vermin!

Wonder how many others there had the vermin break into theirs. You did call the storage place and the police? Yes i called the Police. They want me to file a report online. Too busy to bother with little things. The storage yard owner said that break ins haven't happened in a longtime. Wow, dude really? Guess what, you got a problem now!

Worst kind of vermin!

Today I stopped by the storage yard to check on our Alpine fiver. As I walked around the backside, I noticed that the cover straps had been unbuckled and flapping in the wind. Someone had pried open the back window and climbed into our rig. I quickly checked inside a saw where the vermin had ransacked our rv. I went home and loaded up the fifth wheel hitch and hauled the rv back to our home. I opened up the slides and started to inspect for damage expecting the worse. The only damage I found so far is to the back window that cranks out and the window screen is toast. I think having the slides in and batteries removed kept damage to a minimum. I need to find out if I can replace the part of the window that cranks out or need to buy the whole window. I guess It could have been worse. :M

RE: Trash can?

Our Alpine 3500RE has a compartment at the end of the kitchen counter that swings open for a trash can. The only problem is finding a can that actually fits the odd shaped space. Has anyone found a tall can that fits? :h The swing out compartment is a half round. I cannot find trash cans where the bottom fits in the door.

New rv pet?

The dw and I have started talking about getting a new pet. We recently had to put our dog down and we miss her terribly! She was a rescue dog and could not be left alone in the rv or at home without someone to watch her. We would like to find another dog that would enjoy traveling when we go out camping. I know this is a loaded question, but which breed seems to fair better with rving? Thanks!

RE: New roof for Alpine

if you put a fantastic fan in the bathroom, do not have the door closed, the fan on, and flush the toilet. your black tank will vent up thru the room. don't you have a better vent to put that fan on? bumpy Already have a Fantastic fan in the kitchen area. I installed a different exhaust fan in my other rv bathroom and really liked it. Smell from the toilet was not an issue.

New roof for Alpine

I dropped off the Alpine at the dealer today to have the roof replaced. Last week I noticed five small tears in the rubber roof to my shock. The only reason for the damage is maybe a tree branch somewhere but I cannot say for sure. The insurance adjuster says replace it rather than patch it at a cost of about $4900. While they are replacing the roof I will have the dealer replace the cheap bathroom exhaust fan with a Fantastic model. This has been an interesting and expensive year with our new Alpine.

RE: Northren lights

The dw and I were outside the other night and she complained about not seeing any northern lights. I informed her that maybe she should face north instead of south. I will be paying for that one for a long time!

RE: Winterizing without anti-freeze?

Thanks for the quick replies. It wasn't so much the $4.50 per gallon that bothered me, it was buying 6 gallons that did, which is what the guy at the local Ace Hardware I went to recommended. This is my first year with a TC so am in a learning curve with it. Looks like I will blow out as much as I can, then get a couple of gallons for the toilet and p-traps. Check to see if you have a water heater bypass. With the bypass you only need to add enough antifreeze to flush the water lines. With my Alpine fiver with washer I only use about two gallons.
