RE: Safest 2010 vehicles according to the IIHS

Hi, I wonder why the Ford Edge or Taurus X did not make it on the list? My Edge has all kinds of airbags everyplace you look! Good Luck, Fred. There is no 2010 Taurus X

RE: Thinking of selling my coach...Am I stupid?

If NADA says 30-35, what makes you think 40-45??? If it were me, especially expecting so much more than my current unit is worth, I'd have to stick with what I've got. It would be a shame to buy the new one, only to find out you would probably get far less than NADA for your current one.

RE: Reply for my ad tp sell our RV

Probably a scam, but if he sends you the cashier's check, and it clears through HIS bank (not just yours), go for it. My money is on the fact that you'll never see a check from him.

RE: Discrimination against RV's bigger than 30'

In your circumstances, I would think it would be worth consulting a lawyer. Shouldn't your RV be grandfathered, even if they change the code?? I agree. Now, as to those boats parked in the FRONT YARD --- now that's an eyesore. That's why my wife and I SPECIFICALLY look for neighborhoods with covenants & restrictions. Keeps those boats out of front yards (and a myriad of other things), plus, in our 38 years of marriage, we've always realized a much better return on our investment come resale time BECAUSE we were in a neighborhood with covenants & restrictions. To those that disagree, it's your right. But when you get boats in front yards, vehicles up on blocks, commercial vehicles parked around the houses, paint jobs in colors that make you gag, or no maintenance to your neighbor's home, outbuildings, or yards --- don't blame anybody but yourself.

RE: Never again Directv rant

Direct TV does indeed have horrible customer service. Equally bad is Target (try calling them & you'll talk to 4 different people --- in INDIA) -- I sold over $14,000 worth of Target stock after my last encounter with those idiots. The best customer service, IMO, --- Verizon & Garmin.

RE: Best toads

If price is an issue, you'll get the most bang for your buck in a used Suzuki product (and now probably a Saturn product), in that they depreciate at the speed of light. Wranglers tend to hold their value, and have a tendency to beat you to death with their ride characteristics (not the easiest to get in and out of either). Jeep Liberty's have had their share of issues. IMO, I'd look for a Saturn Vue or perhaps a Suzuki SUV (Vitara, Grand Vitara, XL7). Good luck to you.

RE: MPG for RVing versus flying

Yes, but. Can you get that plane in a $25.00 per night campground? It may save a little fuel, but is more costly to do. \ BTW. Still gota drive from the airport to where ever you want to go. So not even much fuel savings. But, with your observation, you're not taking into account that a 7 or 8-day cross country drive can be made in about 5 hours in a plane, so no need for overnighting or several days worth of food. Just an added thought.

RE: DFW To MIA

Fly. Fares are crazy low, and unless there are a LOT of things you want to see along the way, that's a long, boring drive.

RE: HOLY COW !!! Check out this rig !!!

Can you say TRUCK. Don't like them at all, give me a bus style, full faced, higher sitting, better layout. Me too, especially for that kind of money. Better layout, usable cab area as living area, and large panoramic windshield & side windows is what makes a nice Class A DP substantially more attractive to me. Not interested in a 'truck' Class C.

RE: BEWARE - Scams abound!

Snipe: IMO, Craigslist is not the place serious buyers shop, nor serious sellers advertise. I know there are isolated cases of people buying & selling on CL that were satisfactory experiences, but from my personal experience (and as you know, I'm an automobile dealer), CL is garbage. Stick to the better sites & the results will be better. Phooey! :R Phooey me if you like, but I buy and sell in excess of 1,000 vehicles per year.....and you? Based on my experience, and not just a piecemeal single purchase here or there, I do know what I'm talking about. This is my living, and 27 years of successful experience qualify me to make the statements I did. You want the 'real' sites to go to? PM me.

RE: Class A or TT

Well, that's why they make chocolate and vanilla! Just a little input -- for the drive itself, your family of 5 would be MUCH more comfortable in a Class A than in a truck pulling a trailer. Sure, there are many other things to consider, but I think this should be #1 (or very close to it). Five people in a pickup truck (especially the 3 young ones) could end up being very claustrophobic by the end of the day. Good luck to you and your family.

RE: State police portable scales

If I have a proper license for MY state of registration, there's not a d*** thing California or any other state can do about it. You should be OK as far as licensing requirements go. But that driver's license reciprocity between states does not necessarily apply to vehicle regulations. If there are size, weight, or equipment restrictions that are more stringent than your home state, you may still be held to them and be subject to enforcement, even if you are legal in your home state. For example: if your state allows you to pull two trailers at once, that doesn't mean you are good to pull those two trailers through a state that doesn't allow it. Another example: if you have a rig that's 64 feet long overall, and your home state allows 65 feet, that doesn't mean you won't have issues as you travel through a state with a 60 foot limit. I realize that. Strictly speaking license requirements.

RE: Lazy Days RV service

ANY repair shop that won't let you in the service area...beware, they say it's for our safety...BS Lazy Days is only out for the $$$. Time to learn a little about the business world: 1. Insurers, not the dealer, usually set the 'no customers in the service area' rule. 2. Yes, LD is indeed out for the $$$ -- what business isn't? That's the idea of being in business, isn't it? :R

RE: high mileage tow vehicles 200k

Hardly think an F150 is a diesel. JMHO My mistake. All the more reason NOT to buy a 211K truck.

RE: high mileage tow vehicles 200k

211,000 miles is a lot of miles -- especially since it's been used for "local" deliveries. To me that means a lot of in-town, stop & go driving -- not really what a diesel was designed for. Plus, 211k on an engine might be OK, but remember that EVERYTHING on that truck has 211k worth of wear on it. Plenty of lower mileage trucks available to settle for a 211K in-town mile truck.

RE: towing with a car dolly

Check & re-tighten your straps within 25 miles of taking off. Also, check the tightness of your lug nuts on a regular basis.

RE: Definition of "New"

Never titled = new. For example, a vehicle can be 5 years old with thousands of miles on it, and if it's never been titled, the first title will show it as 'new'
