RE: Baked Beans Recipies

I use one can Grandma Brown baked beans and one can of Bush's original. Mix together. Add a few teaspoons of a "chicken wing" sauce or BBQ sauce. Heat and serve. Easy and good.

RE: Fiver TV - 2002 F-350 Lariat 7.3L Diesel Dually

We have the same truck but a 2000. We love it. You do look like HUGE coming down the road but we wouldn't change a thing. We bought the truck from our friends who had it since new. The truck had 90K on it. Paid quite a bit for it but it is THE best diesel made. Keep it nice and it will last a long time. Our fiver is 35 feet. I wouldn't want anything longer because you get into "not fitting" into places. Good luck with your decisions but as far as the truck goes. YES!

RE: Another newbie questions - step carpeting

On ! don't worry, fold up the steps before you pull out and go. Twenty years of camping, I've never had one come off. If you check them once a year to see the grommets and spring are good, you will be fine.

MICHIGAN!

Hi we have seen many of our beautiful US states but this year we are adding a new one and going to Michigan. We have a reservation in St. Ignace and plan to spend some time in Mackinac and surrounding area. We will be coming from the south end Michigan/Indiana and up through. We have no timeline but would appreciate some "not to miss." We enjoy history, beautiful surroundings, art, museums, etc. Thanks for your suggestions.

RE: Help with reservations for Finger Lakes Area...

There are two State parks between Seneca and Cayuga; Sampson State Park and Cayuga Lake State Park. Sampson is a great park but does not have sewer. Cayuga has limited electric. Sned-Acres is a private park between the two lakes that has fair reviews (Ovid, NY) on rvparkreviews. Enjoy the wine trails and the Lakes. NOt a lot of excitement here but an enjoyable, relaxing area. PM me for more questions.

Jayco - warranty, service and professionalism

I want everyone to know what a wonderful experience we had at Jayco's Service Center in Middlebury IN. Randy and Ron were terrific and completely handled our issue with our fifth wheel. When you live 500 miles from the Service Center and are treated so well and efficiently, it makes the trip worthwhile. I commend Jayco and their staff for standing behind a product four years out of warranty with such professionalism.

RE: "Dog Dooty is YOUR duty!"

I hear you! I work in an elementary school and we have people walk their dog in the courtyard and playground and leave the poop for the kids to step in during recess. It doesn't matter where you are people do not clean up their dog's poop. That is the main reason that many campgrounds are going "no pets" in many areas.

RE: Dog Friendly beach near Topsail

There should not be dog friendly beaches. Dogs pee and poop in the sand and no one cleans it up - the pee is impossible. I don't want to set down my stuff where some dog just peed or pooped. I have a dog and we walk her on the trails or around the campgrounds in dog friendly areas and clean up after her.

RE: New York City Area

Croton park - a county owned park in Croton-on-the-Hudson. Full Hookups about 50 or 60 a night which is very reasonable. Get the train into Grand cental and the take the subways from there. Liberty Harbor will work as well but no sewer there. Ground Zero, the Met, a baseball game, 5th avenue, multiple shopping, so much to do there.

Old Coleman Picnic Propane Camp Stove

I just found one of these in a friend's barn. Looks to be in good condition. The directions have a small propane bottle on it. Not like the propane bottles we have today. NOt sure where to get one to see if it works. Anyone have this stove and what do you use for propane?

RE: Wash DC to Niagara Falls?

Stay off the New York State Thruway as much as possible with an RV $$$. I would take from Harrisburg north route 15 to Corning where you will get route 86 West to 390 north and then to 63 and then get on route 90. The toll will be minimal. Then follow the directions to Niagara Falls NY or to Niagara Falls ON. Enjoy our falls!

RE: Must "Eat & See" in Asheville, NC?

We went last summer and really enjoyed our trip. Biltmore - expensive but so worth it. Black Mountain and the old-fashioned hardware store in it. Neat little shops and a great view. Downtown is a great place to visit - lots of crafters, buskers, restaurants and great buildings. A welcoming, easy-to-get around city. Visit the tourist information center, get tickets for the trolley if you don't want to park on the streets (free parking at the info center). Visit the Grove Park Inn. So much to do and of course the Blue Ridge Parkway. I would go back in a minute!

Artic Fox 32-5 M - seeking advice

Although we are fairly happy with our Jayco fifth wheel, we are looking to upgrade at somepoint in 2014. We will probably be doing more camping than just weekends and are looking at the Artic Fox 32-5. I have seen older AF but none of the new ones as there are no dealers in upstate NY. I am seeking advice on the following:
1. Anyone have pros/cons on this model. (we would get one with a generator as our Jayco has one now and we wouldn't be without one)
2. Best dealer to work with - we know we will need to travel to get it and trade ours in.
3. IF the list is about 68 to 70 what would you expect to pay if it was a non-trade deal.
Any other ideas or suggestions are welcome.

RE: Winter Conditions and my 5th Wheel

Ask him for the vin # and then call Keystone. They should be able to run the Vin # and tell you exactly what is in the unit. I hope you are personally going to check this unit before you purchase it.

What do you look for in a camp store?

Friends of ours are opening a new campground next season in the Finger Lakes/Rochester area. What items do you find are absolutely necessary for a camp store. There is a Wal-mart within 1/4 mile but folks in a motorhome would have to uproot to get there. Include your supplies and food items, etc. I will send your thoughts to them.

Front end living and brand names... need some ideas

We have a fifth wheel. No major problems with it but we are just toying with upgrading a bit. I like the Open Range front living room; with the bedroom in the back. Wondering if anyone who has a front end living area can comment pros and cons. In addition we are looking at decent RVs that are not lower level but not full-timing high end either. Our Jayco has served us well but we are looking at others too. Jayco is made well but is certainly not a high-end unit like an Excel or Mobile suites. These are nice rigs but out of my price point. Thanks for all opinions in advance.
