RE: Train from Williams to South Rim ?

Not very scenic, especially when I compare it to the Durango-Silverton train :)
I wish that every American could ride the Durango-Silverton train.
This couple from Alabama did it. And will do it agian.

RE: Sedona/Flagstaff/Grand Canyon in a 40ft Eagle?

Also, I've heard several folks mention the campground in Tusayan (Grand Canyon Camper Village) at the north end of town but none that have actually stayed there, unless I missed it. Any comments on it?
I've stayed here twice. Alright campground. Just take the shuttle to the park after a breakfast at McDonalds.

RE: Ridgway to Estes Park

I pulled our RPOD 171 last summer from Alabama to Utah, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona with my 2011 Jeep Rubicon Unlimited. Most of it was flat land driving but I unhooked and left it in Cortez before I went up thru Silverton,Ouray and Telluride. The Jeep DOES not have the power for pulling the RPOD in mountainous conditions. Be prepared for a lonnng journey.

RE: Jeep Wrangler

I have never owned a Jeep Wrangler.
I am a "car guy ".
It seems to me that Wrangler owners love their Wrangler.
Even though they seem crude to me.
WHAT IS IT ? that makes the Wrangler owners love their WW2 design SUV, please ?
What features does the Wrangler have that other vehicles don't ?
I am not bashing. I am just curious .
As the saying goes....
It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand.:B

RE: Jeep Wrangler

I towed my R-POD 5000 miles last summer from north Alabama to New Mexico, Arizona, Utah and Colorado and back. The trailer weights around 2100 lbs. My Jeep, 2011 JKU Rubicon, did ok but what really slows me down is the frontal area of the trailer. Just had the standard tow package plus I installed a brake controller, highly recomended, and 7-pin plug for the trailer brakes and 12-volt power. Mine is an automatic transmission and the overdrive only worked on level ground. Only place I didn't tow this was up thru Durango, Silverton, Telluride area, had a base camp in Cortez. The new 2012's have a lot more power but haven't seen any reviews of any one towing with it yet. Good luck with your choice. I would still make the same trip with my setup if I had to.
