RE: I'm smitten with a TT and have a frivolous question

How about an Excursion? My 2004 Ex has a tow rating of 9600lbs and we tow a Jayco 32BHDS. Its a gasser but there are diesels out there for sale as well.

RE: Upgrade sway bar on TV?

I upgraded my rear sway bar on my Excursion mainly to help cornering especially when not towing.

RE: Closing or opening a slide out manualy

Believe it or not my TT does not have a manual crank. On my PDI I inquired on how to manually close the slide and was told there is no way to do it. I did read where someone with the same TT did drop the underbelly , disengage the slide motor and used a racket to close the slide.

RE: Slide outs good or bad?

People will eithe love or hate slide outs. We are on our 3rd TT, the current one is the first with slides. With 4 kids and 3 dogs I find slides are necessary. I know with slides there will be some additional maintenance/risks but I believe the Pros outweigh the Cons.

RE: Realistic van-TT combo?

Each pound you put in the Caravan will take away from the amount you can tow. I have had Caravans for years and would not tow anything bigger than a small pop up.

RE: Help finding TT with the right floor plan

I would go to a RV show, see what is out there and then decide to shop dealers for the best deal.

RE: Rest Stops/Truck Stop Layovers

I suggest you download the I-95 campground guide. We used this guide in 2010 when traveling to Disney from NY. All the campgrounds were only 5 miles or less from I-95. We stayed at several KOA's as well as a couple private CG's. When we do our next trip we will use this guide.

RE: Newb Questions

My V-10 Excursion is rated for 9600lbs and my TT weighs about 9500lbs ready to camp. I have towed to Florida and Maine and have had no issues. I use a Reese dual cam and have made a few modifications to my Ex to improve my towing experience.
With your combination you have enough truck for your TT.

RE: If you've got 3 or more kids...

With 4 kids I hear you loud and clear. I looked for over a year before I found my low mileage V-10 Excursion. Still kept the 1500 Suburban for daily driving.

RE: 2500 Suburban towing a 36' Coachmen 320BHDS?

I tow my Jayco 32BHDS , very similar to your TT, with my Excursion. I only feel a push when passed by semis or busses. I use Reese dual cam.

RE: condensation in slideout

We installed Maxx air covers on our ceiling vents and always leave the vents open a few inches. It does wonders in reducing the condensation inside the TT.

RE: Suburban 1500 Owners

We use to use our 1999 1500 Sub as a TV. The last TT it towed was our 2003 Jayco 27BH which weighed about 6,000lbs loaded to camp. Once we upgraded the TT we needed a lrger TV so we bought an Excursion.

RE: Newb looking to buy 28-32ft tt

I went to a local dealer today and looked at jayco's Jay flight and white hawks. I liked both. Also the dealer took me through a couple Puma's that were similar to the Jay Flights in size and lay out. In the Jay Flight looking at 28bhs, 29qbh, 32bhds, and 32tsbh. In the White Hawk looking at 28dsbh and 29sqb.
He talked ballpark prices and he put the Puma's in the 18-22k range depending on options. Jay Flights in the 20-24k range, and White Hawks in the 24-26k range. The prices seemed decent. How much more wiggle room is there to negotiate?
Visit RVDirect's website and build the TT of your dreams, they will give you a quote on it. From there you can see the amount they come down from MSRP. I paid $21350.00 for my TT which had a MSRP of $31000.00 .

RE: What do YOU use?

We use the Lynx Levelers. Easy to store and don't take up a lot of space.
