RE: Navistar RV is gone.......Hello new owners

This was copied from wiki about Monaco. Monaco was incorporated in 1968 as the Caribou Manufacturing Company. They began building pickup campers. The most popular line was named "Monaco." In 1977 the name was changed to Monaco Coach Corporation. It acquired the Roadmaster Chassis Division of Chrysler Corporation in 1984 and the Holiday Rambler Division of Harley-Davidson in 1996. In 1987 Kay Toolson was appointed President. Monaco manufactured seven brands of motorhomes and RVs, including Monaco, Beaver, Safari, McKenzie, Holiday Rambler, R-Vision, and Roadmaster Chassis. In 1994 Monaco President Kay Toolson announced they would move their Junction City operations to the Coburg Industrial Park in Eugene, Oregon. On March 4, 1996, the Monaco Coach Corporation acquired from Harley-Davidson, Inc. certain assets of Holiday Rambler (the "Holiday Acquisition") in exchange for $21.5 million in cash, 65,217 shares of Redeemable Preferred Stock (which was subsequently converted into 230,767 shares of Common Stock), and the assumption of most of the liabilities of Holiday Rambler. Concurrently, the Company acquired ten Holiday World Dealerships for $13.0 million, including a $12.0 million subordinated. In 2005, the company had sales of approximately US$1.2 billion, and employed nearly 5,400 people. On March 5, 2009 the company filed for Chapter 11 bankrutpcy. On April 24, 2009 in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware, an attorney for Monaco said the company had signed an asset purchase agreement with Workhorse International Holding Co., a Navistar International subsidiary. Monaco's CEO was Kay Toolson. On June 23, 2009, Judge Kevin Carey agreed to the company’s request to convert its Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing to a Chapter 7 case so it could liquidate its remaining assets, seven pieces of real estate in Oregon, Indiana and Florida. The order converting the case to Chapter 7 was effective June 30. Monaco Coach Corporation sold its factories, inventory, brands and intellectual property to Navistar International Corp. earlier in June for $47 million. The RV resort properties in California, Nevada, Florida and Michigan were sold to various other buyers. Once the remaining assets are liquidated under Chapter 7, “the entity ceases to exist,” and effectively spells the end of Monaco Coach Corporation, said Andrea Coles-Bjerre, an assistant law professor at the University of Oregon and a former bankruptcy lawyer in New York. Monaco RV LLC was sold by Navistar International Corp. to Allied Specialty Vehicles in 2013

RE: Chevy or Ford

Only with the Ford you can have the keyless entry keypad on the driver's door. That's a sweet option!

RE: Navistar RV is gone.......Hello new owners

Its much like the airline business. Consolidation in a shrinking industry. A larger piece of a smaller pie. Fewer choices for the consumer. Lets face it, fewer and fewer folks are getting fat retirement benefits, and those of our generation that did are gradually dying off. I don't see the average retiree of the next generations having the same disposable income. Most government projections are showing the average American poorly prepared for retirement with many having to work until they drop. And who buys the biggest share of MHs? Not young people! There will always be a market but the glory days for the MH industry are in the past. Just my opinion, and I'm sticking to it! :) This makes a lot of sense!!! It makes sense as to why Monaco's ans HR's were built so well back in the 1990's. In today's market aren't any younger folks buying RV's?

RE: What's the market like for used TT's right now?

I would have to agree with the above post , 11 grand for a 16 year old trailer , great if you get it , I doubt it will happen. I just bought a 2006 29ft sunnybrook BH with slide for under 9K . I just sold it today for $9,500.

RE: Sony B/W camera cable to RCA connector

I did the same thing when updating my dash unit. I just cut the old 4 pin connectors off, and soldered on the RCA connector. The new camera was a BIG improvement. You might try these guys for an adapter cable. http://www.rvcams.com That's great! Were you able to keep the sound feature?

Sony B/W camera cable to RCA connector

Hello everyone... Has anyone ever adapted their existing Sony black and white camera cable to have RCA ends on it successfully? This is a gray cable with a 4 pin round connector. I am installing a Alpine navigation receiver with 8" screen and plan to replace the old Sony black and white camera with a Alpine color one. I plan on keeping the sound feature as well.

RE: I want my oven!

Nice work. My wife would not consider an RV without an oven. Although it would not be a deal breaker, we much prefer storage space to an oven. I gained storage space after removing both CRT TV's. :B

RE: I want my oven!

That's a great setup! The reason I want my oven is this. Every year at Burning Man I meet a gal that I end up spending some time with in my RV while some crazy dust or rain storm is going on outside. I'll invite her to stay for pizza while we watch the crazy storm outside. It's one of my favorite pastimes. :W

RE: I want my oven!

Thanks guys! I will post the finish pics when I complete it. I have to wait for the cabinet guy to build new cabinet doors for it. Once that's done, I can finish the install.

I want my oven!

And I almost have it! This is just one of a few projects where I'm putting features that my Holiday Rambler travel trailer has in to my Monaco DP. It's not done yet, but it looks good! http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0965.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0964.jpg height=640 width=480

RE: My new RV Garage

It's time for the footing and foundation. The engineer called for footing that are 5 feet wide!!! I guess he was making sure my RV garage wasn't sliding off the hill. :B http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0157.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0158.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0162.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0160.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0161.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0163.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0164.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0165.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0166.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0159.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0156.jpg height=640 width=480

RE: My new RV Garage

Well I can see why you did not go with a larger building. Most you costs is right there in the dirt work. What are the wires from? True, the excavation cost was about $6,000. I also would have saved a lot of money if the building was on flat ground. Those are the power cables to my house, cut by the excavator. The locator service didn't mark any of them. I'm so glad there were located regardless, because I didn't know exactly where they were and how I was going to get power to my garage at that point. Having them run along the front of the garage like that turned out to be perfect.

I have got some excellent help from Roger Burke. His website is rvhyd.com. It seems like he's working on the site though.

RE: Fumes from Aqua Hot in coach

I had this problem. The basement compartment where the Aqua-Hot is has a diesel odor. That compartment has to be totally sealed off from the interior of your coach. The hoses from the Aqua-Hot enter the coach from here. My leak was in the bedroom. There is an access panel in the floor of the closet. Where the hoses come in from the Aqua-Hot compartment is wasn't sealed. I filled it with foam fill and that seemed to correct the odor.

RE: My new RV Garage

Considering I tried to sell it for several months, I think I did well vs. having to pay someone to haul that heap away. It had some good peices, to the right buyer.

RE: My new RV Garage

I'm going to show you guys the pictures of the progress. I actually sold that old horse stable for $600 and the guy tore it down and hauled it away. http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/IMG_0144.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/DCP_0006-1.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/DCP_0005-1.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/DCP_0004.jpg height=640 width=480 http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g215/vacuumbed/DCP_0003.jpg height=640 width=480
