Bolt on hitch

I currently have a WAAG bumper bar (pic attached) on my RAV4 TOAD. Now that I have a portable waste tank, I need some way to pull it. I have been looking for a temporary small hitch that can be put on when camping then removed. The only ones I have found use the same frame holes as the WAAG bar. Does anyone have any suggestions ? Thanks very much for any assistance you can give me.

RE: Treating window rubber

The best all around rubber protectant on the market is 303 Aerospace Protectant. It's available at some auto supply stores and I just saw it at my local Camping World. It's kind of pricey, but well worth the cost.

RE: When or if to reseal?

If you look in the owner's manual, it recommends stone mason's caulking. The Winnebago factory folks told me you don't have to remove old caulking, just smooth out the rough spots

RE: Head light covers

I have used two scratch removers - Scratch Out by Kit is the one I use for headlight covers. It works well and is reasonably priced. The absolutely best scratch remover is Quixx..... it is a little pricey at $ 20 for two little tubes, but it takes a tiny amount to do the job. Both are available at Walmart. The Quixx may be a little hard to spot, since the box is pretty small (about 2X3 inches).

RE: Winni vs. Damon

I looked at a LOT of coaches when buying and did a lot of research too. It appears to me that the Winnebago is not as flashy as Damon, but they build a much better and more reliable coach. They also have one of the best reputations for customer support.

RE: insurance

All I can say is that $ 400 per year seems awfully high to me. I have a 2008 and only pay $ 60 more per year for replacement cost. That also includes a premium package , which includes a 25% reduction on my deductible each year I don't have a claim.

Here ya go Crossfire
The link was very helpful, but it doesn't say where you can buy them or how much they cost. Any ideas ?

Dual Tire Inflators (valve extensions)

I have been considering adding dual tire inflators (valve extensions). I am looking at the ones by Wheel Masters with the braided steel covers.
A few questions:
- is this the best brand available (other than replacing the existing air valves) ?
- are they difficult to install ?
- is leakage a significant problem ?
- are there other problems inherent with this product ?
Thanks much for any assistance you can give me.

RE: Used MH brands to look at.

We have had two Winnebagos and have been very pleased with their quality. Also, Winnebago has always stood behind their products whenever there is an issue.
The Newmars are also outstanding products and the folks I know that have them speak very highly of the brand and manufacturer support. I would buy a Newmar without reluctance. They just happen to be a little higher than my price range. If you find a good price on one, it is certainly worth considering.
Personally, I would steer clear of the Bounder. They have had some real issues and Fleetwood support has been spotty, at best. Fleetwood has also been in bankruptcy.......... there is some word that they may be recovering, but I can't confirm that. The people I know that have had Fleetwood products have had nothing but problems with them and have experienced poor support.

RE: Have any of you NOT changed the transmission filter before?

Am I correct in assuming that you guys are talking about diesels ? I have a Ford gas and cannot find anything about changing the transmission filter.

RE: Anyone stayed at Capital West RV Park-Sacramento?

Do you have any more information (address, web site, etc.). It is possible that it's actually in a nearby town or has possibly changed it's name.

RE: problems with Camping World

I have had many experiences with CW at both their Rocklin and Vacaville (both in CA)stores. Their service people are smarmy and incompetent. As an example, their service guy told me that the fuel pump on my generator was bad and needed to be replaced ($500). When I took it to a professional Onan dealer, it turned out to just be out of adjustment ($80). By the way, this happened just after I had CW do a service on the generator.
Also, the last two times I went to just purchase a few standard items, it took FOREVER to get through the checkout line. I don't have any problem with hiring seniors, but at least ensure that it doesn't take 20 minutes for them to process a simple exchange.
No.............. I am not against older folks.......... I am 65.

RE: Tire saver

The best product for your tires is 303 Aerospace Protectant. It will help with weather cracking and does not have any petroleum products in it, like Armor All does. It's a bit pricey, but I feel it's worth it.

RE: On-line sites for MH sales

When I sold my C, I used RV Trader and Craig's list. I got twice as many inquiries from Craigs list and finally sold it on a referral from Craig's List.

RE: Wheel cover nuts.

Quite a few RV supply houses (other than Camping World) will either stock these or will order them for you. To most of these suppliers they are called jam nuts (no, I'm not making a joke).

RE: I-80 west of Reno, be very careful

Dave where is that campsite in your sig picture looks great?
That is Doran Beach, near Bodega Bay. It is a Sonoma County park. It is very nice, although very windy at times. There are no hook ups, but there is water (relatively) nearby. I had to use about 125 feet of hose to get water the last time we were there. That is the trip shown in the picture.

RE: I-80 west of Reno, be very careful

We also had the white knuckle experience going to and returning from Reno last week (went to the balloon races). It is absolutely ridiculous that the barriers are so narrow. I feel certain that Cal Trans will have some lawsuits on their hands............... at least I hope so.

RE: Service for Ford Class A

vegasken34:
I'm sorry about your bad experience with Ford. We have always had great experiences with both of our Ford motorhomes. Unfortunately, our favorite Ford fleet service dealer went out of business, so we're looking for a new one. Since we live in such a small town (Yuba City, CA) we will probably have to travel some to find a dealer who can work on motorhomes.
