RE: dolly tow newby

i'm looking at the acme tow dolly,it has surge disk brakes.i don't see any swivel that you are talking about.maybe i missed something,if you have a chance, look at the web site acmetowdolly.com and see what i'm not seeing.that is where i.m getting the unlock the stirring from. thanks bob Quote from Acme site: Important notes: o Make sure you free the parking the brake. o If you have a locking column, make sure it is left unlocked thus allowing the steering wheel to turn. o Depending on the car you have you may have to turn the ramps around to place them onto the loaded car tow dolly. o Some people just place the ramps into the car trunk until they need them again. o It is very important to check air pressure before departing. The tires should be pumped up to 90 PSI. Your towed vehicle tires should be pressurized and equalized so there is no uneven rolling resistance coming from your car’s tires. o Never allow an inexperienced driver to tow a loaded car tow dolly. o Winches must be stored for empty transport. They will not stay in unless they are under pressure. o Tightening the ARS winches requires an adjustable wrench or socket set that are not included. Please note "bullet #2" Steering wheel lock NOT engaged so that the front wheels may turn and allow the toad to "follow" the dolly. No swivel bed for the toad wheels. With swivel bed the steer wheels of the dolly must be locked down to prevent turning by either the column lock or a seat belt or BOTH. Vic

RE: Wood Pads under MH Tires ?

Directly from the Michelin web page: LONG TERM STORAGE OF RV TIRES Unless the RV owner is a full-time RV-er, the vehicle probably spends some time in long-term storage. But what the RV owner probably didn’t know is that rubber tires age when not being used. So, if the owner must store the RV, a cool, dry, sealed garage is the best bet. Also, some storage surfaces can cause tires to age faster. That’s why Michelin recommends placing a barrier (cardboard, plastic or plywood) between the tire and the storage surface. For additional info go here and click RV Tire Guide: http://www.michelinrvtires.com/michelinrv/toolbox/reference-material.jsp Lou 05 Travel Supreme Envoy Cardboard = barrier Gee I don't think so!

RE: dolly tow newby

With the front wheels of your Prius on a dolly the wheels don't turn and the steering wheel can be locked and key removed. Do check with Toyota about towing the car on a dolly as the rear wheels WILL be turning and I have heard of some modern cars having issues with the ABS systems not liking one set of wheels turning (rear) and the other set not (front). As a hybrid, double check that there are no issues with the rear wheels turning with the system turned off. Not sure this is a good idea. With non swivel dolly and locked down steering what happens to the rear wheels of the car when turning a corner?

RE: Possibly a feather in Sam's cap!

Can't hurt. But you'd probably have to text it so all those offending drivers will actually see it - while driving, of course. al :E

RE: Where are the mail-in-rebate forms

Catalog page: http://www.campingworld.com/ads/2013%20Master%20Catalog/#/26/ I think mail in rebates are normally from a manufacturer or distributor, not a retailer.

RE: Some tips for driving on the Interstates

Great post! These points are certainly not limited to RV pilots. All apply to all drivers. It appears to me that driving courtesy and caution are eroding at about the same pace as respect and judgement. Perhaps it may be appropriate that drivers do a check ride on some repetitive time defined basis to monitor performance. Passing a driving test to earn a license does not mean the skills and habits learned in the instruction process are to ever be forgotten/discarded. My pet peeve is the turn indicator the starts flashing just AFTER the front wheel crosses the lane demising line. Well perhaps not signal would be ahead of that.

RE: Propane problem

When the furnace didn't work shortly after all was well, did you try the stove? Furnaces can be difficult to get lite at times. Clearly you do not have a "cold" problem. If the stove lights then there is perhaps an igniter issue in the furnace. Does it cycle, does the igniter spark? If not there is likely an intermittent power supply issue, check all the electrical connections. If not, there may be an intermittent issue in the igniter itself. There is likely a gas solenoid that opens when ignition is attempted that may be defective or receiving power intermitently

RE: Motor Home Specialist

I have never bought there. I did have a go but they had virtually no interest in providing any assistance whatsoever as regards the import process. I got the feeling that once a sale was complete, the buyer was really on their own. Vic

Reset? Perhaps power disconnect. The word here has been that the folks at Hydro Hot are pretty good eggs. Give them a call in the morning. Vic

RE: New report on the price of perscription drugs.

The only pharmacy on your list that is everywere is Wal-Mart. If you're traveling, That would be one requirement. There is also Walgreens, but I don't if they are everywere. Canada! I am in Canada. Those listed are extremely common.

RE: New report on the price of perscription drugs.

Recently (less than 2 weeks ago) I did a pricing comparison here in central Alberta on three prescriptions. The comparison was done on a 30 unit refill for precisely the same drug. I have not bothered to provide per unit costs in this analysis. The resulting prices are gross, before any "benefit plan contribution". Please note that none of the vendors included were "independent" with perhaps the exception of Shoppers Drug Mart. However, with the buying group affiliations, such as Rexall, there is likely no significant variance in the pricing range from those below. Shoppers probably fall into this category. The results follow: SavOnFoods $92.86 WAL-MART $102.86 SAFEWAY $105.00 SHOPPERS DRUG $112.98 COSTCO $74.67 I have in the past done a price comparison with several mail-order pharmacies but that exercise simply convinced me not to have anything to do with this option. Long delivery time, what looked to be significant out of stock issues and no real opportunity to talk to a pharmacist. And as far as the prices were concerned, they were somewhere between SavOnFoods and Wal-Mart above. Vic

RE: CW serv. dept. wrecked our RV lied and tried to hide it

It is truly unfortunate that there is no Olympic sport classification for jumping to conclusions, we certainly have some absolute experts here. The resolution of the issue is the bailiwick of the OP and CW. Until the result is know, the comments regarding either the OP of CW are just crap!

RE: goofy , but true ?

It is really good to hear that this LEO took the time to work on this serious offense.:S It was certainly much more productive that arresting the 20 drunk drivers that passed and the 10 drug deals and 5 robberies. I would understand the cop telling the person about it at a gas stop or doughnut shop, but to make a traffic stop. Unreal The tax payers of that area need to reduce the police force if that is the best they have to do. TROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: goofy , but true ?

Perhaps all those that are so quick to do the LEO bashing should give up their current monetary endeavours and take up the vocation of peace officer, if you have the guts and smarts to satisfy qualification standards. Cop bashing is crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How would you like to live in the anarchy that would reign if there was no police force?

RE: Can you leave the hitch on the trailer?

BIL does it all the time with 5th RV and 5th horse trailer converted to a work trailer, HD mechanic. The only caveat from him is to make sure that the unhook spot is quite level to facilitate re-connecting.

Hand held electric heat gun. Way more heat than hair dryer with much higher air cfm. Would be best if you are able to retract one leveller at a time. http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.magmedix.com/images/products/Heat-Gun.jpg&imgrefurl=http://drriders.com/topic1437-10.html&h=190&w=300&sz=11&tbnid=27B0fq0tQABD4M:&tbnh=72&tbnw=114&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dheat%2Bgun%26tbm%3Disch%26tbo%3Du&zoom=1&q=heat+gun&usg=__UysBKZcIl3e62Qcwnx7ZUSvsgSM=&docid=nyVq7Tmf5aAo9M&sa=X&ei=nqxQUarqCq_siwLn-oGQCw&ved=0CHkQ9QEwBw&dur=413 I have one that I use to shrink shrink wraps on wine bottles, real low heat, full air flow and not too close to the shrink wrap!
