RE: New heavy duty truck

That would be OK if they would build a class 6 with single rear and 6 speed auto. Don't expect to see one of them soon. They don't mention building engines for other truck mfgs.
Oh well, guess I can only dream........

RE: Miles per day

I do about six hours at most as a general rule. I may start doing less if I feel the least bit tired, don't really look at the mileage so much.

RE: 5th wheel hitch

I use a Curt hitch (non slider) and am very pleased with it. Try Amazon, they have really good prices,

RE: Fifth wheel hitch

I have a Curt Q20 hitch and could not be happier. Great hitch and less $ than the others. Can get one on Amazon for about $725 or slider foe $900.

RE: New to Duramax

dieselplace.com is a great spot to learn tons about the Duramax. There isn't a lot to learn as far as repairs and fixes go, though, as it is a very reliable and durable drive train. It will pull your trailer like it wasn't even back there.
Re: jumping and the 2 battery system, there should be a red box on the pos cable coming from the forward battery (driver side). Just hook the jumper to the bolt inside the box and the neg lead to a ground, and you are good to go.
Speaking of batteries, a truck that age is going to be about ready for new batteries. I would have them tested, as they'll go fast when they go (assuming you have the stock Delcos). If one needs replacing, replace them in pairs.
Good luck -- you have one of the best diesel power trains around, IMO (although I may be a little biased).
Gezz, I have a 2006 LBZ and my son in lay has a 2005 GMC LLY and we both still on the original batteries. Not a wimper of a problem...Just saying..No flame intended.

RE: Duramax best towing speed for best MPG?

Did a 830 mile roundtrip to Erie Pa. last year. I was using the 5er in my signature ( 12000 lb ) with my 2006 LBZ. Averaged around 62-65 MPH and hand calculated milage to be 14.1. Made me a happy camper..

RE: Newmar Good and Bad?

I have a 1999 American Star I bought about 1 1/2 years ago from a friend of my daughter and son in law. It is a fine and well built unit. We used ours about 18 days last year as the wife had some surgery and kind of put off some of our trips.
If it is in good shape, and the price is right I don't think you will go wrong. The only thing to be sure of is that you have enough truck. The Newmar line is a bit on the heavy side.
Best of luck in your ne adventure....

RE: Air Compressors

I have this one and LOVE it. Good luck, Phillip
http://viaircorp.com/OffRoad/400PA-RV.html
Viaair makes some of the best compressors on the market. 12VDc not 110Volt. I have the 450p. Pricey but good quality. 150psi is no problem. Plus I use it to winterize my RV on the road. I would never own anything else. Lots of cheap junk compressors out there if you want cheap.
Checked their site. Where to buy?
Just go to google it and type the name and model number. lots of places will be there.

RE: Cedar Creek 34RLSA GVWR

Just let me add that you have a great combination on that truck and 5er. I would however suggest looking at the Curt q20 hitch, Save you about 2-3 hd $ and they are a great hitch. Must say I love mine.
