RE: Funny Town Names?

Show Low, Arizona Two guys decided that there wasn't room for both of them in the town so they decided to draw for low card to see who would stay, thus 'Show Low', the town name. The main street is named after the winning low card drawn, Deuce of Clubs Boulevard.

RE: '12 Aspect, bottom slides seals missing? (can see outside)

Even with the slide seal repaired exhaust from the gen will leak in other places. Consider using a Genturi to vent the exhaust above the rv.

RE: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

You mistake crude oil and gasoline. Due to reduced usage and prices, we have some excess refining capacity for gasoline. We take imported oil, refine it into products such as plastics, gasoline and the like and export it to foreign countries. This provides jobs for American that would otherwise not have them. This is a good thing. The price of gasoline is not affected. Think of it as manufacturing. The same for those distillates. No mistake here other than your interpretation of what I am saying. Exporting gasoline reduces supply of gasoline here in the US, increasing price by the law of supply and demand due to the finite refinery capacity. Gasoline demand in the US is steadily dropping so the excess should drop the price. Oil companies are propping up the price by exporting it.

RE: Recharge Coach Batteries???

We've been using 2 Diehard Platinum Marine batteries with good results for a couple of years. AGM so no need to add water. More expensive but should last longer, slower self discharge when not in use. I took a look and they are currently a few bucks off. If you go that route, to get the discount I think you have to order online and pick up in the store.

RE: Motorcraft synthetic blend or switch to full synthetic

There is not much wear data out there. About all I found was a 10 year old Motorcraft 5W-20 oil analysis report from a V10 Ford truck. The oil change interval was about 3000 miles: here. Compare that with a Mobil 1 5W-20 in a E450 Class C with 4100 miles I posted a while back here The older Motorcraft oil has higher Zinc and Phosphorus for antiwear due to the API SM & SN requirements now that the maximums be lower to increase the life of the catalytic converter. Other than that though the Mobil 1 has slightly lower iron wear in terms of ppm/1000 miles, 16 ppm for 4000 miles for Mobil 1 vs Motorcraft 19ppm for 3000 miles. Thats 6.33 ppm/1000 miles for Motorcraft, 4 ppm/1000 miles for Mobil 1.

RE: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

85,000 barrels per day of gasoline is being exported every day to Venezuela as of last November. We have plenty of refinery capacity. We also export distillates elsewhere; Mexico, the Netherlands and Brazil were top destinations for US distillate exports link

RE: Oh crud! Something new to worry about....

If your emissions level is marginal, change your oil before your emissions test. If your oil is dirty and any is consumed it will add to the emissions from your rv. Also any blow-by will pass through the crankcase and pick up any oil vapors and pass back into the engine intake through the pcv valve.

RE: Oil Change - Ford V10

I used 6 qts of Mobil 1 EP plus a Motorcraft filter plus my labor for $37. How did you do that? Around here (Bay Area of CA), if you can find an auto store that even carries 5W-20W (what the V10 requires) Mobil 1 Extended Performance synthetic ... it's in the neighborhood of $9 per quart. That makes the oil alone costing well over $50. The K&N filters I use on the V10 cost an additional $13-$15 each. So far, I've never seen Walmart carrying 5W-20W Mobil 1 Extended Performance synthetic oil or K&N filters. Walmart sometimes carries 5W-20W Mobil 1 regular synthetic oil however ... but never that Mobil 1 weight in the larger 1 gallon cost-saving container. Yes, I bought the 5w-20 EP at Walmart. $27 for 5 Qts. link The following stores in your area report having it in stock: Walmart store #3455—Richmond 1400 Hilltop Mall Rd Richmond, CA 94806 (510) 669-1342 15.36 miles Walmart store #5457—Oakland 8400 Edgewater Dr Oakland, CA 94621 (510) 430-9606 15.49 miles Walmart store #2648—San Leandro 1919 Davis St San Leandro, CA 94577 (510) 569-0200 17.22 miles Walmart store #5434—San Leandro 15555 Hesperian Blvd San Leandro, CA 94579 (510) 351-0108 20.77 miles Walmart store #3493—Martinez 1021 Arnold Dr Martinez, CA 94553 (925) 313-5716 26.05 miles Walmart store #2031—Union City 30600 Dyer St Union City, CA 94587 (510) 475-5915 27.08 miles Walmart store #2280—Mountain View 600 Showers Dr Mountain View, CA 94040 (650) 917-0796 33.63 miles Walmart store #2161—Pleasanton 4501 Rosewood Dr Pleasanton, CA 94588 (925) 734-8744 37.15 miles Walmart store #2989—Fremont 44009 Osgood Rd Fremont, CA 94539 (510) 651-3301 37.65 miles Walmart store #2925—Napa 681 Lincoln Ave Napa, CA 94558 (707) 224-8797 37.89 miles Walmart store #1615—Pittsburg 2203 Loveridge Rd Pittsburg, CA 94565 (925) 427-2022 41.29 miles Walmart store #2119—Milpitas 301 Ranch Dr Milpitas, CA 95035 (408) 934-0304 41.87 miles Walmart store #2048—Fairfield 2701 N Texas St Fairfield, CA 94533 (707) 428-4792 43.59 miles Walmart store #1755—Rohnert Park 4625 Redwood Dr Rohnert Park, CA 94928 (707) 586-3717 44.51 miles Walmart store #1972—Livermore 2700 Las Positas Rd Livermore, CA 94551 (925) 455-0215 45.28 miles | Walmart store #2697—Antioch 4893 Lone Tree Way Antioch, CA 94531 (925) 755-0900 47.16 miles |

That is a good price. I used 6 qts of Mobil 1 EP plus a Motorcraft filter plus my labor for $37. There is a thread to track oil analysis results, it would be great to get a sample report using Motorcraft semi-synthetic, if you are interested: link

RE: Kwikee electric steps sticking

I suggest taking a look at Kwikee's lube called Kwikee Kwik Lube. It claims it goes on as a penetrating fluid and then changes to a protective grease. That is what I use a few times a year and am currently having no issues. I picked it up at a local rv parts place but is also available on-line.
