Mine didnt work when I bought it. Last spring I fnally got under there and did the troubleshooting as per Kwikee Troubleshooting instruction download. I could only find bad grounding as the cause,, motor worked fine "bench testing". I went ahead an renewed all connectors as a just in case. That little fizz box controller is what I worry about going out the most.

We have a frontier 4 door 4WD we just couldnt get comfortable with the towing #s to buy a trailer for it. If the #s was good the trailer was just too small for our wants.

yes the laminate does want to expand with heat which is one reason why this stuff will never stay on forever, the "bubbles" will grow with sunshine and contract as the sun passes over and it cools back down.
Just glueing it back together may work if the core is not rotten otherwise you will be glueing bad wood back together and it will just peel off another layer of rotten fibers an un laminate again.
