RE: Gel Gloss?

Used to use it on my 1st TT, since the front faced south all summer & the oxidation got bad Can be a bit hard to remove, so on a 36' MH, you'll probably want a powered buffer handy. I used a cheap 6" orbital type DO NOT use it over decals!. There's petrolium distillates in Gel Gloss and it'll start your decals pealing As Rob&sue mentioned, a coat of good paste wax makes a big difference afterwards JMHO

RE: 2008 6.7 Ram 4X4

You may have also gotten a software update along with the new plumbing Have read on a couple other boards that the later software versions gave a big boost to performance & mileage Most seem to agree, on the 6.7L leave the EB ON at all times, and you'll have the least problems if you make the engine WORK. The 6.7L does not like being used as a daily driver/grocery getter! JMHO

RE: Squealing Propane Tanks

I had a similar problem on when using the street side tank, but only when furnace was running. I have a 20 psi regulator on that tank for some reason. Been told it's a 'safety issue' since there's a 12' length of hose going to the main regulator on the other side This regulator started leaking about 6 wks after it started making the whistling sound. Replaced it and problem went away. Got new regulator by calling Rockwood parts in IN. Have talked to 1 couple that had the sound 'from both tanks'. Turned out to be bad 'overflow' valves in the tanks. These are the new saftey valves that recent vintage tanks are required to have Hope this helps

RE: After Market Diesel Tank ---- Duramax

I think there's a company called TITAN that makes extra large fuel tanks for all the Big 3 brands. Supposedly mount in factory location, and can be done in your driveway. Think the Chev goes up to 45 Gal Cost was on the steep side as I recall...thinking $900-1000 JMHO PS found the link.... http://www.titanfueltanks.com/GMC_Chevy_Fuel_Tank.htm

RE: Jeep Wrangler in TH

Even if its a Wrangler (Jeep site says it's 3800#), that's a LOT of weight to have behind the rear wheels of a TT/5th So even if you find one that'd fit a Wrangler, I'd be concerned about handling issues. After all, THs are to haul some dirt bikes, or maybe a quad or two, not a full size auto JMHO

RE: Ford Diesel Problem

Just as a general statement, black smoke tends to be caused by low boost(leak/ bad turbo) or leaking injector(s) JMHO

RE: DIfferential Fluid

Good place to shop is most of the auto parts store..Autozone, O'Reillys, Pep Boys, NAPA etc Not sure on 75W-90 (since I look for 75W-140), but believe current prices are in the $8-10/qt range depending on brand & store Might check local WalMart, since I think I've seen the Mobil 1 brand in some of them JMHO

RE: propane detector "chirping"?

Usually, when any of the 'detectors' I've had, start 'chirping' it indicates a LOW BATTERY. Normally, that means replacing a 9V battery (smoke, carbon dioxide) In the case of the propane, that should be wired to the RVs 12v system So chirping there would indicate the 12v system battery voltage is getting low The 2nd possibility is the detector is either getting something it thinks is propane or it's going bad Time to do more checking/trouble shooting JMHO

RE: Tow Vehicle - Improving the Ride

Seems to me you've already done about as much possible After all, you do have several TONS of Truck, pulling multiple TONS of 5th. It'll never be a Cadillac or Lexus JMHO

RE: Fuel stop planning

Have Flying J & Pilot truck stops programmed into my GPS. Overhead is 'fairly' accurite on the Distance to Empty (34 gal tank) When I get around 1/2 tank, I start to compare the DTE to the GPS and make planned stop to combine walking dog, fuel, potty break etc Also have 5 gals of diesel in bed, just in case JMHO

RE: Best place to mount backup camera

Get it as high as possible, especially if your going to be using it to monitor traffic behind you The primary reason for this is when it's raining or road is wet. The higher it is, the less road spray is going to 'fog' the lens. Mounted mine just above the spare tire and close to the body. If I had it to do over, I'd probably go another 12" or so higher. That way could still clean lens, and be even higher out of the road spray at back of trailer JMHO

RE: Changing Fuel filter on 06 Dodge 5.9

Dont forget to REMOVE the Old O-ring in the lid & REPLACE it with a new one. I wet o-ring down with a little diesel before tightening lid. For the lid, I just make sure mine is good & snug.(think spec is like 25 inch-pounds) Think socket is 1 1/8"(?). Available from Geno's garage, as are the Cummins fuel, air & oil filters You can hear the elctric pump in the tank when it runs. JMHO

RE: 2006 Dodge 3500 Mega Cab Diesel 5.9L 4x4 SRW MPG

Pretty much have same figures as 'arkie-camper' above Go very light on pedal and keep RPMs below 1700 in city and you can get 15-16 Go higher or heavier on pedal in city and you'll drop to 13-14 in a heartbeat Open road empty is around 19-21 depending on speed Towing I average 12-12.5 over the 2200 miles from OH-AZ JMHO

RE: Changing Fuel filter

Have been changing mine with every oil change @ 7500 miles (25.5K on the clock) Starting to think that's a bit of overkill Considering upping to every 10K miles, which is when I do air filter JMHO

RE: Cooking and Baking with a Conventional Oven in a 23B

Wife says to not set heat quite as high as called for, and keep a CONSTANT watch on what your cooking. She claims ours will either under cook or over cook, but you wont know which unless you keeping good eye on item Just her opinion

RE: Towing power needed? Flagstaff 831RLBSS

Another thing you want to consider (which will probably eliminate the Tahoe & Expedition) is the WHEELBASE on the TV You want to look at the longest you can find. That, in my opinion, does not mean something with a 110" WB. More like a pickup w/ a 130-140" Your looking at a trailer that's OVER 31ft and grosses over 4 ton You'll want weight distribution bars and the best sway control you can find (something like Reese Dual Cam) Plan ahead, otherwise the 'tail wagging the dog' will give you a bad headache and very white knuckles JMHO

RE: cummins shake

Since you have no signature, we dont know if your Cummins is in a MH, or Dodge. On my Dodge, I have boost, tranny & exhaust gas temp (EGT) gauges Have found that mine 'shakes' a lot less on shut down, if I let it idle so the EGT(post turbo) drops below 360F JMHO

RE: Wind deflector - helps mpg?

Do a GOOGLE search on aerodynamics Deflectors take SOME air & move it upwards. Generally, your lucky to get enough air to move the bugs...so they 'splat' higher on the RV The problem is they do nothing for all the air turbulence along the side, coming off back sides of cab, and behind both TV & RV. That's where the 'drag' is located Look at a OTR truck. They have 'deflectors' along the cab sides & bottom. They also have a HUGE deflector on top of cab. Several K-bucks worth of plastic for something like a 1 mpg gain I gave mine away years ago. It didnt save me enough gas to cover the sales tax I paid JMHO
