RE: Amicalola Falls State Park-GA

Hold the phone! How long is your 5er? The campsites are VERY short, and the road through the campground is quite curvy and I mean tight! I have a38fter, and would NOT even attempt it. Call and speak to a ranger before you book.

RE: Parks Near Yosimite

We will second Yosemite Pines. However, march or April may still see too much snow to enjoy much of the park.

RE: Wekiva Falls or Southern Oaks Rv Resorts

We stayed at Wekiva Falls about 5 years ago. It was absolutely horrible. As mentioned above ants, long hook up runs, uneven sites, bad swimming conditions. The list goes on and on! Never again.

RE: Florida tolls

One thing to keep in mind. In the Orlando area many of the roads are EZ Pass and not Sun Pass, BUT that is in name only! EZ Pass from up north will STILL NOT WORK!

RE: Great news coming soon from Tn State Parks

Hope it's in-house too. Georgia State Parks has a terrific in-house system that's easy to use. You can't reserve a specific site but you can't do that in most places anyway.
Glad to know TN is getting with the program. Keep us posted.
Totally disagree! We have camped all over the country for years. Most places we have been if you know what site you want you can reserve it. Florida SP system does that. We spent 3 weeks on the Oregon coast this summer and their great SP system does too. Conversely, we have several SP's in Georgia that we love, but we do not go as often now because we can't reserve specific sites. Yes, those systems give the locals an advantage, and after all it is their taxes that support the park, but as a retiree I can spend a couple of weeks at a time, not just the weekend, so they will make more money out of me! I have never stayed at a TN park because of the lack of reservations.

RE: Fort Clinch State Park

That campground is fairly open to any available wind. It SHOULD not be too bad during November, but any time on that coast can be windy. What I do there this time of year is close the awning before I go to bead and any time I'm away for more than an hour or two. Of course I have an electric awning, so it is easier to do than with a manual.

RE: Florida West Coast Parks

Stay out of Pasco county unless you like excitement. There are hundreds of homes for sale there because of the crime, traffic and taxes.
Dont know what your problem is with Pasco. I have lived in Florida most of my life, and Pasco since 2004. Taxes are lower than most counties in this part of the state. Crime also not as bad as Hillsborough or Polk. Homes are for sale because of the housing slump and unemployment that is affecting all of Florida, not because of crime.

RE: Open CG in Ga. in Jan.

We have used High Falls SP a couple of times. Not far off I 75, north of Forsyth. Easy pull to Tampa from there.

RE: Gainsville and northern Florida Weather and Camping

We drove through Yellow Jacket last year for a look. The sites right on the river have some good views, but the sites are real tight. Rest of the park is just OK. There are better CG's and as others have said many of them are reasonable.

65, 66 and 82 are all big enough, as is 123. Look on Reserve America. The max length info is on each site.

RE: Lazy Days

We have always loved the crew at the original lazy Days in Tampa. We bought our rig there, and have had all our service and warranty work done there. It sometimes takes a long time to get things done, especially when the snow birds arrive, but they have come through in all kinds of emergencies as well. I hear they have sent several of their techs and other folks to the Tuscon store to teach them their methods, so I am not surprised you have had a positive experience.

RE: Anastasia SP in March

No break in the season there. You really have to sit down on the Reserve America site and plug in dates until you find some sites. You should also start 11 months ahead of your projected trip time if you have a firm date in mind. Also, check the size of the sites carefully. We have a 38 ft 5er, and it will only fit on a few sites there. Good luck! The park is worth the hassle!

RE: Anastasia SP in March

I just looked a Reserve America and there is very little left for the month of March. If you think you might want to go, make a reservation NOW! We have been camping there for many years. You have both snowbirds and spring breakers, as well as regular weekend campers. Anastasia is a very popular place!

RE: I love it.

Wow. We hit the Oregon coast at the end of June, and crept up the coast to the Olympic Peninsula in WA, and went into Canada on August 1. All that time we had maybe two or three days of rain. Being from FL we were trying to get away from summer heat, and we succeeded. Thanks for this year's weather!!

RE: What did you do to your TT or FW today?

Took it to the dealer for some issues. We just got back from 4 months on the road. Pulled it 8000 miles; it deserves some R&R!

RE: How do you leave CG early?

One problem you will have on the Oregon coast in their fine state parks is if you do not reserve all the days you will like to have, you will not get a chance to extend your stay, at least not in summer! We spent most of July out there, and while we would have loved to stay longer, we got 4 nights here, 2 nights there, etc. Some were better than others, all were great. You WILL have a great vacation there.

RE: Campers coming thru site

You know the election bothers me, the wars bother me, the price of food and the dought bother me. I'm concerned about the health of my son and I have a friend in hospice. Someone walking thru a site that I don't even own is something that I would never even think about bothering me. Life is way to short to be concerned over trivia like that.
Also, be very careful when dealing with tourists from other countries.. Their customs are not ours and we must respect that and understand their inablity to communicate. The German couple might have been trying to see how something was hooked up. To laugh at them without knowing what the issue was seems a bit unhospitable.
I did not laugh at them. When they crawled under my rig, I was not there, but I would have asked them if I could be of assistance if I had been. However, when the guy went out of his way to come sit at my picnic table on his cell phone right outside my window, I ran him off. He had his own table at his own site (no one was there), his site was two sites away form mine, and there were plenty of empty sites he could have visited. I am sure that if I had gone to his site and sat down at his table to read a book, make a call, or eat lunch, he would have protested! And don't give me the "different culture" stuff. I have been to Germany more than once, and they value their space the same as we do.

RE: Dually or not

Four years of dually. No other choice for me! My rig is about the same as yours in weight and length. I'd also suggest you get G614 tires. If your rig does not come with them, get them to put them in your deal. We learned the hard way!
