RE: Protect A Tow for Jeep?

I have a 05 TJ with 31" tires. I have towed it for 3 years with no additional protection and haven't had any damage. Of course there is always thet 1 misguided rock....

RE: Tail dragger, tail roller project

I have been looking for a roller like this but didn't know where to find it. After seeing yours, I got one from CW, cut the 2" square tubing at a 60 degree angle, welded on the roller and it works great. I was scraping the bottom of the hitch backing out of my driveway and this definately solved the problem. Thanks

RE: dish network help

Dish makes a unit called Tailgater. You can get it at different places like Camping World for around $350. You hook it up and it will scan for satellites.

Quartzsite Facilities

If you stay at one of the 15 day free BLM areas, I know you can dump and get water at the Pit Stop. Where does everone go to get rid of their trash?

RE: Help- backup camera problems

Mine did the exact thing. It was a bad monitor. When it goes off, the menu options should still display on the screen even if it is a bad camera. So, when it goes out, press the menu and see if the options come on the screen.

RE: Converter Issues

Well,I I removed all the battery cables and had 13.2 volts out of the converter. I cleaned all of the cables and posts, put it all back together and the converter is working so far ( I have 12.9 volts on my voltminder. I never thought about the wires being the problem, but looks like that was it. When I had all of the cables off the battery, I still had lights, heater, etc. Why would you need batteries if you are hooked up to shore power? It must be getting power from the converter? If you are on shore power and the battery voltage was low, it wouldn't effect the lights, heater, etc operation? I think it is pretty obvious that I am not an electrician.:h Again thanks for the replies, maybe this can help others.

RE: Converter Issues

This is exactly the setup I have. The fan kicked in this AM 2 times for the first time in 3 days. It only stayed on for about 20 seconds each time, my voltminder showed an increase in voltage while the fan was on and then voltage dropped when it quit running. I'll check the breakers and 120 VAC and disconnect the battery to check the output, but I think it's a faulty converter. Really appreciate the responses from everyone. It sounds like the converter/charger unit is not working. The 11VDC you are reading may be from the battery itself. Things to look for is the 120VAC circuit breaker feeding the Converter/Charger. Pull the circuit breaker all the way OFF and then back ON to reset it. If your converter/charger is getting 120VAC then it should be always putting out 13.6VDC unless it is in a different smart-mode charging mode. They are REVERSE POLARITY fuses on the main power distribution panel shown as the two large fuses off to them selves here. There is also an in-line fuse or auto reset type circuit breaker installed real close to the battery terminals but if you are able to read the battery voltage back at the converter/charger terminals then that is OK. I would look for the 120VAC now feeding the converter/charger unit. Could be as easy as resetting the 120VAC Circuit Breaker on the AC circuit breaker side of the power distribution panel. Another clue the converter/charger unit is getting 120VAC will be the fan may also be working. I am assuming your power distribution panel looks like this with the XADC-40 converter/charger unit installed in the bottom compartment. http://airstreamlife.com/historysafariexpress/files/2009/05/dsc_0100-xantrex.jpg height=300 sample photo from google images Roy Ken

Converter Issues

About 4 years ago, I changed from a Parallax 7345 to a XADC-40 and everything has been working great. Now my batteries are not staying up while plugged into electric. I tested the output on the converter and am getting about 11.5 volts. I know it should put out around 13.5, my question is is it normal for a defective converter to have a lesser output or should it be full output or none at all. Probaly need a new converter, just wondering if there is any other troubleshooting I should do before buying one? Also, when I run the coach engine, the voltminder will show about 13.6 volts and will charge the batteries. (2 6 volt Trojans) Thanks

RE: Wheel Cover/Hub Cap Removal

Mine has 2 nuts with a groove around the hex part, other than that they all look alike. It takes a 15/16" socket to remove them.

RE: Back up camera

I wouldn't be without one, I use it to monitor my toad, backing up, monitoring traffic behind me,etc. I understand the wireless systems sometime will lose the signal. I would recommend the wired system. Check out rvcams.com, Tim is great to work with and he will personally talk to you on the phone or by e-mail.

RE: Free Lynx Levelers Products on their Facebook Page

Thanks to everyone who "liked" us and posted their pictures. Your LynxCaps will be send at the end of the month when the promotion ends and I can stuff them all in boxes. So far we have 15 to be sent and counting. Is it a 10 pack you are sending? LynxCaps are the only ones I have ever used. I'll look up my pics.

RE: Trying to spend money at CW

Can't blame the whole store on one rep. A couple of weeks ago I called for a mount for my Tailgater. They had only 1 left and were being discontinued. I told hime I live 60 miles away and couldn't get there for 2 or 3 days. He said he would put my name on it and keep it for me. Sure enough, when I got there he came out of the back room with my mount with my name on it and ask if I needed help to assemble. I have had great service at the San Marcos store and if I had that problem, I would ask to talk to the Manager. JMO

RE: husky magnetic tow lights install

Your Minnie probably has a 7 pin connector at the rear and the tow lights probably have a 4 pin flat plug. You need to get an adapter that plugs in the plug on the minnie and the other end of the plug will have 4 pins that you plug your tow lights into. You can get the adapter at any auto parts, Walmart, etc.

RE: Tailgater or other?

I have used the tailgater since Jan. of this year and we have never had a problem finding satellites or with delays. Very satisified with it.

RE: Trying to remove baseplate on Jeep Wrangler

I have an 05 Wrangler, when I put my baseplate on I used a 1/4" drive universal joint, short extension, and 9/16" short socket. It just fits in the round hole but not slotted hole. I was able to get the socket on both nuts from the small hole and turned bolt from the bottom.

RE: Broken Arm Rest on passenger seat Ford 2006

I had the same problem with my 06 outlook. I took the arm rest off, drilled a hole where it slides and put in a screw as a stop.
