RE: Where are Mexico fuel prices headed?
This may apply to Us RV tourists, but not on Canadian RV tourists. Rising fuel costs and tolls are the main reasons. Most Canadian RV Owner used, always, vehicles with lower fuel consumption.
In Europe we see the same trend in the RV market, although there have always been vehicles used by the 18 MPG.
I've been riding 7 years to Mexico, travel costs have doubled .... I never had problems with the police. Acapulco has always been known for corrupt police, this year, not the least attempt to collect bribe (Mordida).
I never felt unsafe, but this year, was the sense of security, higher than in the past.
RE: Where are Mexico fuel prices headed?
I guess, that is one reason, for less, Tourists in Mexico. This Year was, a bad season for Mexicans tourism industry.. Many Hotels & Campgrounds had over 40% less Tourists this year. Many of Canadians didn't come.
If you compare Fuel and the Toll - Road Costs, there isn't more a bid difference between travel in the States or Mexico.
Also a good Restaurant, serve comparable Meals, nearly to the same Price as in the States.
Only Campgrounds, daily food on the Market there are cheaper.
But there is a major reason to go there, this are the friendly Mexicans and the sunny Weather ...
RE: Class B and Topas
You can be sure, if you driving in Mexico on the libermento roads (MEX200) , you will run over a tope. Not all are well marked, some in a shadow from a tree, a lot specifically made, to stop traffic for her business...
Cars with a low clearance on the floor, like roadtrek, can hit the end of the car on a tope, if the car is loaded... Some Roadtrek-Owner, had this problem.. Only watch carefully, the traffic in front of you, then you will see the tope....
But match more problems, have the 5ther, with a unseen/seen tope, after a 6000 mil tripp in mexico, on libermentos Road, the shackles on the equalizers are wore out and you have replace it...
RE: Don't take your guns to town..
I solved that problem. Im not going to Mexico at all!
Same here.
...you doing fine. We don't need a gunman down here, more spots on the beach for us...
RE: Federales near Puerto Penasco
Since 2006, we drive down too Mexico, on different routes. I was often controlled, on the Federales or Military Checkpoints. They often went into our fiver, but never had any Problems with stolen things. Some ask respectfully for a cool Coke, never for candy's, not a big deal for me. I always have one in my fridge. But I am not hysteric, they don't do the check, just for cooled drinks...
o.k. some fruit inspection, they confiscated some Fruit or Pork, but this inspection, is not comparable, with an US fruit inspection....
RE: Getting a Mexican cell phone
I bought a Telcel Internet - Stick, 3G, for a Notebook. The SIM can be used also in a Cell-Phone, Smart-Phone or Table-PC... It is a Offer (Stick 249 Peso, 3G 30 Days 399 Peso...) The Registration, was made, by the Telcel Clerk, the 3G Plane include 30 Days, after you buy it at Telcel, can be made via SMS, very easily.
It works fair, but the Bandwidth for Skype-Video is too low....
RE: HOW FULL ARE RV PARKS
Only one with a TX License Plate, in Trailer Park Acapulco, that's my, but I am a German.... Who are the Americans? Two couple from Canada... one from Austria and Switzerland going to south america , not many Mexicans now, a lot of free space....
The bad economic, will close more CP in the future... .
RE: Streets & Trips 2013 & Mexico
Now I know why it was on sale, there sold an old Version S&T 2013, on mine is the Autopista 75D to San Luis Potosi not there...
RE: Streets & Trips 2013 & Mexico
It was on sell, only $14,99 on Fry's in Houston. But some new Roads , Autopista Cuota, Tula to MEX57D is not there. Maybe, the map is from 2011...
I prefer DeLorme Street Atlas, the GPS Pane for Travel is much better on the Warning Time for Turns and Exits....
But I can't get the DeLorme Street Atlas 2013, what includes Mexico, in Houston so fast.... Also the Import of Overlays is much better.
Now I stay on Trailerpark Acapulco....
