digital tv reception

We bought a 2006 Winnebago Tour last summer, when we first got it I had it parked next to my 2008 Jayco Desinger. Using the air antenna I can get more stations in the trailer than in the winne. They both have flat screen tv, should I change something else? I'm thinking that's about the time the switch to digital came about.
Thanks

RE: 5th wheels vs motor homes

Currently have both. 2008 Jayco Designer 35 rlsa and a 2006 Winnebago Tour. Both are for sale, what ever sells first will keep the other.
Insurance, my motor home cost less a year than my F 450. Way more systems on the motorhome equals more to go wrong.

RE: San Diego to Texas, questions about route/camps etc.

One thing about arizona you need to remember is the fire season, but you should know all about that. I too recomend I 10 and Benson as an over night or two. The campground we were at had a telescope and nightly star gazing get togethers. By no means stay at the campground that has I 8 and I 10 and the main east west rail road for boundries. If you travel I 10 in Texas the town of Van Horn will give you a ticket if your rv is park for more that 4 hours in any spot other that one of the two campgrounds.

RE: Looking for Class A with 4 sldes

2006-07 Winnebago Tour 40fd has 4 slides but a cat engine. I'll bet you have a number of Freightliner dealers that will be happy to service a cat motor.

sewer or sulfer smell

We have a Winnebago that has a basement a/c unit. The last couple of times we started the A/C we get a smell that may be sewer may be a sulfer smell. If your A/C has a leak don't they add something that will stink so you know it's leaking?

RE: jackson hole to west yellowstone

I'll never forget the last time I went that way (1995). We went from West Yellowstone down to Flag Ranch north of Jacksonhole. We were the first one's down the road that morning, it wasn't until later we heard they had had 32 inches of snow that night. Of course that was in Feburary and we were on snowmobiles. It's sad to think my kids and yours will never see the park in it's greatest glory, winter.

RE: Payment of Sales Tax

Just remember when you registure your vehicle in South Dakota it has to be done in the same county that's on your drivers license. If you do buy in another state while your staying warm you have to request they send your plates to that address or else they will go to your SD address. Another tip if your going to pay the sales tax to South Dakota figure it out yourself and send a certified check in with your paper work. I was told it wasn't necessary and they would figure it out then contact me and I could pay it with my credit card. What they didn't tell up front is they charge 2.5% for using a credit card.
Did it last year.

RE: Valve stems for new tires for my 5th wheel.

whporwil:
It was more likely the de-icer and salt that ruined the wheels.
We bought the trailer new in Michigan in March and that was the only time it saw snow. I've seen the same on other Jayco's that have wheels like mine.
We don't spend winters in the snow belt.

RE: Valve stems for new tires for my 5th wheel.

Ya get steel, especially if you have aluminum rims. Then watch the corrision start around your valve stems and spread under your clear coat over the whole wheel. Maybe I had a bad finish on my wheels but my 2008 Jayco Desinger the wheels are shot.

protecting my jacks

Hi all, were fairly new to the class A enviroment but not rving. Once again this winter were sitting on the coast and I'm looking for a way to protect the chrome plating on my hydrolic jacks from the salt air. Anyone ever heard of some kind of cover that can be put on. A long time ago when I was racing motorcycles we could buy what was called dust covers that kept the dirt and mud out of our shocks.
Thanks

cracked counter tops

The question is how many of you have cracked counter tops? I'm interested in folks that have Corian or other solid surface counters. We currently own a 2006 Winnebago Tour and a 20008 Jayco Designer, both have cracked counters. The trailer we bought new and the counter is now cracked from the back corner of the stove to the back wall. The Winnebago we've only owned for a short time and never noticed the cracked counter until we got it home. It's cracked in front of the sink out.
Since Jayco wants $2800.00 for a new counter were going to live with it. The Tour I feel will get worst and have to be delt with.
Is there any fix?
thanks

RE: Atwood water heaters

I have an 08 Designer and I discovered when I went to winterize it the mixing valve was bad. I had the bypass valve turned and I had antifreeze come out of my water heater drain. I by passed my mixing valve and was able to finish winterizing my camper. There must be a check valve inside the mixing valve that failed. In your case it's letting more cold water in when you demand water.

RE: Removing front TV Itasca Horizon

See if this writeup by John Canfield helps: Replacing the Glass Monster
Having a Tour 40FD I can tell you are cabinets are a little different and I chose to mount our TV in a fixed position. I used the same bracket that went around the old TV to mount the new one. Cut this bracket so it ends up looking like the letter Z leaving the bottom alone and keeping about an inch on the top. Then you will have to mount it to the back of your new TV. Because this bracket is shorter than the cabinet I used a 2x4 on the bottom and a 1x4 on the top so take this into consideration in locating your mounting holes. Drill two holes through the 2x4 so you can mount this tv the same as the old one from under the cabinet, you will need longer bolts. On the top you will need two holes towards the end of the bracket facing you so you can screw these into the 1x4 as if you were installing a dishwasher. I put a piece of stained molding on the front of the 2x4 and I also installed a piece of 3/4 corner molding on the bottom. My TV sits just behind the cabinet opening that I didn't modify but had I enlarged the opening 1/2 inch that would allow it to slid right in, as it is you just slide in one side first then the other and center. I did this while staying in a campground with a hack saw and a drill. My glass monster is now in there lodge.

RE: Removing front TV Itasca Horizon

I just did this. open the cabinet under the TV, you should see a bracket across the front with two bigger bolts on each end, these need to be removed. Torwards the back I found one large phillips head screw that also needs to be removed. Your TV is now loose but your not going to get it out yet. The two bolts are screwed into a bracket that goes around the top of the TV, the problem is it is glued in the top two corners. I had to remove the molding across the top of the cabinet opening and take a knife and cut through this material then my TV came out. If you happen to have a fireplace This won't help.
