Too many keys

We have this lock setup:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v148/mrjam2jab/Travel%20Trailer/P8060294.jpg
2 locks each on 2 doors...separate key for each...leaves 4 different keys. I would imagine (?) i could probably replace all 4 pieces...and have the 2 paddles key alike, and the 2 dead bolts keyed alike. but would it be possible...short of a locksmith ($$$)...to have all 4 locks keyed alike?

RE: Propane regulator / tank switch

I had the same thing happen. Mine was an older piece...possibly still original. When i replaced the regulator everything worked fine.

max trailer weight

So I found this site...and i looked across to my V8 Auto w/3.42 gears...and i see 6,100#. With my trailer's gvw being 5,800 i know i am way too close.
But....then i noticed Note #2 at the bottom of the page...\
2 Silverado 1500 models are limited to 5,000-lb. trailer rating with a 600-lb. Tongue rating unless equipped with Z85 Increased Capacity or ZX3 Manual Select Damping or Z71 Off-Road Suspension Package.
What?!?!?!?
Suppose that would explain the struggle the truck has going uphill....seems to pull "just fine" on relatively flat roads...

RE: Chevy Chase Christmas Vacation in real life "crappers full"

I'm sorry for the "hydro" comment to my fellow "US" rv'ing friends from this red-neck Canuck:W.
That like saying "EH". Its a dead give away for Canuck's!!
Your right in Canada we have this very strange word for the electrical service. My wife's cousin's from the Detroit area thought we were right loonie when we first started camping with them and called the electrical service "Hydro" the first time.
sorry again. i'll try better next time!!:B
yeah...down here if water & hydro...is redundant...:W

RE: So we almost got arrested

I believe the restriction is on the Baltimore and possibly one other tunnel. The reason is that if your propane tank leaked or burst the propane gas would not dissipate. It's heavier then air so it just sits in the tunnel waiting for a spark.
Like from those smokers who insist of disposing of their butts by tossing them out the windows...:M

RE: rubber vs tin roof

I've had both. I think one reason so many are rubber nowdays is that the protrusion points thru the roof (vents, antennas etc.) and the cauking around them are the major cause of leaks. Here rubber fares better than aluminum. Aluminum expands and contracts and has no "give" so the caulking gets a real workout and fails sooner. With the rubber it stretches some so the caulking stretches less. The alumininum itself will last practically forever, if you stay up on caulking maintainence. Few do, and that would mean a lot more warranty hassles for manufacturers using it. They really aren't concerned about what happens to the roof 10 years down the road.
Aluminum...with Eternabond...from the beginning...:B

RE: Entry door

So i finally got a free day to do this. Gotta say, it was some of the most interesting things i've seen...
Had to really SHOVE the door from the inside to get it to open.
Removed the screws from bottom frame...yep..that piece of wood was completely rotted. Removed the paddle latch and deadbolt. Removed the window...INSIDE the window frame i found the red rubber that fits on slide bolt of paddle handle...??? Removed all the screws holding rest of metal frame....a couple were 1 1/2" others were 1/2"? Turns out there is a piece of wood at the bottom, a piece on the hinge side, a piece at top, and another around the knob/lock...NOT down the whole knob side. The screws down the knob side...screwed into the foam????
So...with only 3 pieces to this frame...what hold this thing square???
The exterior and interior panels were glued to the foam...since the other 2 pieces of wood looked good, i didnt bother removing the panels.
I replaced the rotted wood...pieced everything together using new 1" screws...and the door works again! Gonna pick up a couple 2 1/2" screws to replace the ones at the corners...where the pieces of wood meet.

RE: campsite proud of their dumpstation

Just got off the phone with a campsite here in Southern Alberta.
They have a $10 non-refundable booking fee.
The website says:
To make a Reservation, a deposit of the first night amount is required; this is non-refundable unless cancellation is made 7 days prior to your booking.
Seems standard to me...doesn't say anything about $10 booking fee...
And how did Miss Erin Reilly find this thread so quickly?

RE: Garmin or Tom-Tom GPS

Got a Garmin Nuvi255 for Fathers day and although i've always been a bit anti GPS thinking it was techno overkill a recent trip to Boston got me thinking otherwise, the unit ensured you will never get lost, will direct you to almost any service you require, gives a great trip readout, has a pleasant vioce to tell you of upcoming route changes, also doubles as a blue tooth hands free phone interface.I've been converted and wont leave home without it.
I'm in that same boat. My previous experience with GPS was a BIL who works at BestBuy got one when they first became "hot". We both left the same location going to the same destination...he followed GPS, i my paper map. I got to our destination a full 20 minutes before he did.
However, we recently drove from PA to IA. A friend insisted we borrow their Garmin 260. That thing got us straightened out at least 2x where the exits didnt put us where we thought we would be...once in Angola,IN and once in Downtown Chicago.
Now we are in the market to buy one...:B

RE: Rinsing black tank through the stinky slinky?

They make a special attachment that you put on the end of a hose that has a broadcast sprayer on it.
How do you get the hose to this sprayer? I would have to run the hose under the trailer, into the door then thru trailer to the bathroom.
I just fill a 5 gallon bucket...while draining the tanks...then pour that thru toilet...
My bathroom window is right over my city water connection and I removed the screen so open the window and in comes the flex wand ... Done. Since my flex wand has a shutoff valve on it I just disconnect my FW hose from the regulator that is on the trailer and use that to connect to the wand. Takes less than a minute to hook up things and start rinsing.
Larry
Remove the screen....i'll have to check that out...i didnt see a way to remove the screen on another window...

RE: Are LP tanks considered hazmat?

Hazmat is prohibited in the tunnel, and it is clearly marked. Our RV's are not placarded to carry hazmat, so we do not apply.
bk
When hauled on a tractor trailer...some hazmats...when less than a certain weight being hauled...dont have to be placarded either...but the amounts listed by the tunnel restrictions still need to be adhered to ....

RE: WHICH ???

Not hijack a thread but for truck ignorant people like me, what does "3.73 Would do 4.10" mean and why is that good for pulling a TT?
missing punctuation would make it easier to understand:
"Seriously, 3.73 would do. 4.10 would be my choice though."
and those numbers relate to the axle ratios of the truck.
the axle ratio is a comparison of how many times the drive shaft rotates versus the wheels. If you have a 3.73:1 axle ratio it means the drive shaft rotates 3.73 times for each rotation of the wheels.
