RE: Diesel vs gas......................
SORRY been busy at work, and plowing snow at the house to get online for a while....
Spud57 and Hannibal asked about my upgrades, and transmission blowing up.
yes, I had to replace the stock torque converter with a BD performance triple clutch unit, and a performance valve body kit. this helped alot, and also made a fuel consumption difference.... LESS!! Unless i get the heavy right foot syndrome :B!
upgrades.... tuner, Schnieder performance injectors, cold air intake, New intake manifold elbow, alum. deep trans pan, snow performance methanol injection. (keeps EGT's down)and adds about 40HP...also methanol acts as a catalyst and helps get a fuller burn of the diesel injected. been reliable so far, 120K on the truck as of today. occasionally getting a fault code for open circuit on group 1 of injectors might be a wire or somehting...
Happy travels.. YT
RE: Trip to Ogden, Moab, and G.C in september TIPS??
THANKS for the ideas, and input!!! greatly appreciated :B
when we get closer to the GC.... do we need to fill up (diesel)? Flying J station anywhere close in the area? is there a lack of stations in the area? dont need a surprise, on my mistakes...
RE: Dodge 2500/3500 Hitch pin issues?
I will take it to a welding shop and see what they can do. I was using the angled hitch pin instead of a straight one, so maybe thats the problem.... havent done any "drag racing" towing, but I do use the hitch alot when using the truck (loaded/ towing etc.)
Thanks for the suggestions.

Dodge Hitch pin issue??
has any one that has a 3rd gen doge 2500/ 3500 had any issues with the reciever pin wobbling out?:h basically the hitch pin hole in the reciever has wobbled out just a bit, and makes the hitch sloppy front to back when towing.
Anyone had this issue? fixes?
the truck has just under 120K on it, so out of warranty..
Thanks, would like to try to fix this without a lot of $$ before towing season :B

RE: Diesel vs gas......................
towing/ cargo CAPACITY Gas vs. Diesel, almost no comparison. Diesel wins. Torque. Diesel, Fuel mileage towing- Diesel. power upgrades (within reason of course) probly equal. A previous poster asked why someone with a diesel will add a chip, or programmer? A: same reason as a gas truck, more power, and torque, or mileage. I know that my 07 cummins 350Hp/ 600 tq stock is enough. however, adding additional 275Hp, 300 lbs tq, makes towing a lot easier, probly less wear and tear on the drivetrain, less shifting, and I dont worry about big grades, or not being able to pass someone if I need to. I had a gas truck to tow with, it just is not the same as my diesel. Just my .02
I currently also tow a 51' triple axle gooseneck, good for 24K, again, no problems. I dont recomend doing this with a gas truck.
RE: Quality in general?
I feel, that all RV manufacturer's have good units, and bad alike. while some may have a "friday afternoon special", some have a good unit built on,... say tuesday or wednesday. we have a 2007 Keystone raptor, and again as others posted "knock on wood" we have not had much issues at all. batteries replaced, a replaced fuel filter for the genset, a few very minor issues with the rear electric bunk beds ( under recall) and the screws backing out on the door latch on the side door (makes it a bit hard to get in that way!!!) wood glue fixed this. otherwise it's a great unit considering it always has 5 quads in it, 30+ gallons of fuel, supplies, gear, and almost always boondocking off rough roads.
the bouncing problem posted earlier could have been a tire pressure issue, or possibly an axle that was out of alignment? trailer overloaded?/ unbalanced load? who knows. I'm Not defending Keystone, just stating possibilities. I must say,however,.. We have had a forest river that we were not happy with, or Kitt, or a jayco, or the aljo. we all experience a good unit, or bad.
RE: Trip to Ogden, Moab, and G.C in september TIPS??
Thanks for the tips. On the hwy 6, curvy and narrow should not be much of a problem, but does it have a lot of grades?
on the grand canyon. is there a lot of site seeing on the north side, or would we be better heading thru page, az. to the south side to do some sightseeing?
-MOAB- reccommendations on CG's ones to avoid? expensive/ cheap? bad experiences?
Great ATV rides for MOAB, that are more kid appropriate? reccomendations?
thanks again for hte tips and INfo!! :B
Trip to Ogden, Moab, and G.C in september TIPS??
we are planning a family trip in Sept. 4 kids, toyhauler, truck, and possibly quads.
we plan on stopping at Ogden 1st for 2 days at Lagoon amusement park.
They have a RV park there. any reccomendations? reviews? stay somewhere else? does any one know if they would allow us to temporarily park the quads outside of the toyhauler while camping? (secured of course)
then heading to Moab for a few days, Reccomendations there? route reccomendations? avoidances?
We also plan on heading to the north side of the grandcanyon. Reccomedations on route? avoidances? places to stay and avoid?
we would like full hook-ups, but not necessary. thank you for any tips, tricks, and reccomendations!!!
SEE you on the road!!
