RE: I got a chuckle out of this...

Chevys do have more fru frus than Ford. Like the heated tailgate so your hands don't get cold when you have to push!!!!
90% of all Chevys are still on the road. There was the 10% that actually made it home!!!

RE: Has this happened to you?

Several trips ago, a truck diver emptied his pee bucket against the side of our rig while we were in a Welcome Center. We noticed it while we were exiting the builkding. My wife did'nt want me to confrom the driver for fear that he might try have road rage further down the road.
Am I reading this right? You watched some guy pour pee down the side of your rig and you did nothing? :E

RE: Mount Honda 3000 on tongue?

Thanks for the link handye9!!! Just what I want only maybe a little taller to give more access to the propane bottles!!!
I'm not worried about theft. It will be securely mounted plus I will have a custom cover made for it.
At first I thought the remote start would be great until I learned you have to leave the key in and in the on position!!!

Mount Honda 3000 on tongue?

I'm thinking about doing the above.
TT - 2010 Springdale Rugged Terrain 189.
Have a rack fabricated to carry the genny above the propane tanks. 150# of additional tongue weight would be welcomed as I have just under 10% now.
I guess my main concern is having it near the propane tanks?

RE: Scary Towing Sights This Week...

I was coming home from camping this weekend and saw a commercial mover towing a new TT. It was about a 28' with a spring over for high clearance. Indiana dealer plate. The TT was standing on it's nose!!! The truck was level. I bet the owner of that rig will be facing premature front axle failure. All the way from Indiana and going thru Idaho with the majority of weight on the front axle!!!
You'd think these guys would be required to have the proper hitch to tow these things level!!! :R

RE: 2011 Ram dually: best susp. setup, tie-downs & hitch exten?

Pony up the bucks now for the TL/Super Hitch system. You will thank yourself down the road!!!!
As far as suspension upgrades, save yourself some money and try it first. I had an 05 CTD dually with a big S&S with a slide out and towed a Jeep on a trailer. The only suspension upgrade I ended up needing was the TL Stable Loads!!! :C
I have the TL/Super Hitch system on my present truck. I do a lot of off road and the TL holds my camper down perfect. And the Super Hitch comes in handy for heavier trailers.

RE: beer and history - yep, another trip report

Great TR!!!!!
Brought back some memories. I was born in Coeur d' Alene. My best friend was a Wallace City Cop. His duty every Sunday morning was to pound the nails back in on the main street bridge from Sat nite traffic. Also had to collect the "city's share" from the cat houses!!!!

RE: Airstream with Single Holding Tank -- will it smell?

I'm a little late here but I had a large 04 S&S pickup camper for several years. It had a 35 gallon single waste tank. I was gun shy of this system when I bought it but ended up never having any kind of problem with it.
In fact, I came to prefer that system!!! It had one of those interior tank spray nozzles in it. I would just hook up the hose, open the valve and activate the sprayer. Let her run until the water coming out was crystal clear!!!
No hassle of first the black tank, then the gray tank, then rinse hose!!! Plus it eliminates one whole tank with hoses and valves that could fail!!!

RE: Has this been offered on a US TT?

My '10 F150 had it as does my '11 F250. I prefer it on the truck then it will work on ANY trailer I tow with electric brakes. :C

RE: Harbor Frt Cordless Drill or Impact

I use a Craftsman 19.2 volt on a low torque setting. Not sure why some posters say you need lots of torque. You DO NOT need lots of torque for stabilizer jacks. If you torque them too much, you will mess up your frame. They should only be snugged up a bit which does not take very much torque to a accomplish.
I also use the Craftsman 19.2 with HI/LOW settings. TT stab jacks are childs play for this drill as I also use it to put my TC ON/OFF my truck.

RE: Towing a boat

I have one of those Costco ($99) back up cameras wired in full time. It does a fairly good job, the screen is very small. I bought my camper used and the camera was all ready installed.
I loved the Voyager I had on my big S&S. Worked well and you could see everything. Even had night vision and sound. But it was $800.
I would put a better one on this camper but I ultimately want to end up with a Four Wheel Camper so I will make do with this for now.
So yes, I believe they are worth it.

RE: ST verses LT Tires

Ahh, I see some things never change, and some debates never end. :)
I think one big piece to this thats not being mentioned: ST tires, since they are designated for use on trailers and non-passenger carrying vehicles, do not have to meet anywhere near as many safety standards, testing requirements, etc. that is required of P and LT tires that are used on passenger-carrying vehicles.
The biggest myth of the whole debate!
Since blowouts etc. pose as much risk to innocent bystanders as they do to the owner, EVERY tire approved for highway use must meet the same safety standards. As for "passenger safety" I'd point to the many States that allow passengers to ride in TT's and fivers. Not one State in the group goes on to say anything about the tires that are under such units.
ST tires aren't "approved" for (driven) passenger vehicles due to the design differences in them. A driven vehicle's tires must steer and drive; while ST's are designed specifically for following/tracking behind a tow vehicle. To achieve that purpose most efficiently and to minimize rolling resistance, thus helping with fuel economy, ST sidewalls are stiffer; and the tread is simpler, less aggressive, and shallower.
Those design parameters make ST's unsuitable for drive/steer axles, both of which must do entirely different jobs than those on a towed unit....but they are in every way just as "safe" as any LT when used for the design purpose.
Really? Why are Sts restricted to 65 mph? Why did my wife have to sign a waiver at the Ford Dealer when she said she didn't need V rated speed tires (138 mph) while replacing her tires?
All tires are NOT created equal.

RE: ST verses LT Tires

Does not change my mind about inferior ST tires!!! My Springdale Rugged Terrain came from the factory with LTs as well as many toyhaulers expected to see less than perfect road conditions.
And the Michelin rib does not perform well in cold weather!!!! :R
I went to the Michelin website and yes, it is rated as a summer tire. But that does not mean it can't work well in cold weather. It is designated as a summer tire as it has little traction in mud or snow unlike all season or M&S rated tires.

RE: Do you like your cabover bed?

I guess I am in the minority. I like the E/W bed. Seems easier to climb in sideways vs head first. But then DW does not go unless we take the TT!! :)
