RE: Best RV Park In Branson?

If no sewer hookup is required, and you want a larger site that's quiet ... there are plenty around the Branson area. Table Rock State Park, and the following COE campgrounds ... Indian Point, Mill Creek, Aunt's Creek ... and two more that are even better, but about 15 minutes out of town, but worth the drive ... Cricket Creek in Ark and Old Highway 86 campground. Both still located on Table Rock Lake. None of the private owned ones in Branson are quiet, and are all cramped. (but most of these shutdown in October).

RE: Need to buy a Tow Bar

Just recieved my NSA Ready Brute and am very impressed with the quality and price of the unit. Also toad breaking is included. You can buy the tow bar to fit any of the base plate manufacturers. I used the Demco base plate. We just bought the Honda Fit for our toad. We love it. Plenty of room and great gas milage. In fact we were looking at an SUV so we could haul a Cricket (small golf cart). After measuring the Fit a Cricket will fit in the back with the seats down.

RE: Mystery electrical click driving me crazy!

The fact that the problem can be reproduced is helpful.
Can you find someone to help you troubleshoot and have then jump on the step while you crawl around under the rig and try to trace it?
I've found on weird noise problems if I can get one of my grandkids to listen their ability to hear and trace noises is better than mine.
Years ago I read where somebody found a can/bottle hanging inside one of the doors in his car and it made starnge sounds until he tore the door apart.
The fact that all power has been removed causes me to think it is some kind of mechanical item under stress.
I would sure love to be able to lay under the coach and check for suspension problems as the coach is rocked by someone on the step.
I have listened to the sound and it almost sounds like two thin pipes tapping each other.
Have you ever had one of the little cricket snap toys? Kinda sounds like that to me.
Happy hunting.

RE: Tow Vehicle...2WD or 4WD

I will never forget an incident that happened to us quite a few years ago. At the time, we had a 2WD Suburban and a 24' Mallard TT. Stopped at some campground in Kentucky or Tennessee called the cross eyed cricket, or something like that. Nice campground, but our site happened to be "up the hill" I learned at the office. Well, the campground road "up the hill" was fairly loose gravel. You can probably guess most of the rest of the story. We barely made it up there, with gravel slinging and tires spinning all over the place! :E There were two main reasons for my difficulty.I could not get a run at the hillI did not have posi.We had quite an audience, and they appeared thoroughly entertained.:S:p
Long story short, every tow vehicle we've had since then has been 4WD.:C

RE: Traveling with Pets

Frankly our Chihuahua, Cricket, would be very hurt if she knew we were going camping and did not take her with us. She loves going camping and is always ready to go. We have never left her to go camping but she seems to think that if she doesn't pace the floor enough or stand at the door enough while we are packing that she is going to get left. In fact if she escapes out the door she won't want to come back in the house for fear that she will not get to take a trip. Love traveling with our pooch. It would not seem the same without her.

RE: Joined The Text Crowd

My Cricket® modem allows me to do unlimited texting and I can just type the message on the laptop keyboard...
The main advantage of texting is when the person with whom I wish to communicate is in an area with marginal signal (not strong enough for a voice call).
Every text message is a 256 Byte "packet". This allows a 158 character message and 98 Bytes of addressing and overhead data.
The text server will establish communications with the recipient's modem or cell-phone, send the packet and wait for an "ACK". If the "ACK" is not received, it will continue sending the packet.
If the text server determines the recipient is "off line" it will store the message until the recipient's device makes itself known on the network at which time it will send the packet.
When signals are very weak, it may take many tries to send the message until the ACK is received.
The "overhead" Bytes are used to insure accuracy of the received text message; it only takes one incorrectly received bit to result in a "NAK".
"ACK" = Acknowledgment or correctly received packet.
"NAK" = Packet received with one or more errors.

RE: R.I.P. Nascar........

I love how some folks post negative comments about NASCAR who don't watch it and don't care about it and don't understand it.
Like I'm going to get into a discussion and post negativity about cricket, or knitting or synchronized swimming competitions???

RE: New Cricket Wireless Broadband Plans

I checked the coverage map for Cricket a couple days ago and it looked like you'd have to camp near cities to have any service. I avoid cities like the plague.
That's the main problem with any service but Verizon and even it doesn't cover everywhere.

RE: amplifier for verizon air card

I'm using "Cricket" and have the modem at the end of an extension cable (it came with the modem).
By using the extension cable, I can place the modem in a window in the TT. I just hang it from the venetian blind.

I thought i saw a post about adding a amplifier to gain more bandwith with your verizon air card making it faster. Does anybody have any info on this? Can this be done? Does anybody use "Cricket" air card?

RE: Dish or Direct TV

first decide what programming you want. if you want NFL, BASEball, etc. then you will have to get the system that offers those packages. determine which tier/level you want to pay for. see if the programming you want is available on that provider at that tier.
I notice that Dish has one option that provides Free HDTV for life if that matters to you.
beware of some sneaky advertising like I read on a mailer from Direct. it gave one package that was "exclusive" with Direct. everything in it that was worthwhile was in my Dish package. they evidently make some arrangement with some obscure group like the Northern New England Cricket club and include that so the package is "exclusive", so beware.

RE: Verizon/Sprint aircard

I'll throw another in for good measure...
I'm using Cricket BB wireless.
It's 3g.
Unlimited (really - no limit)
Speed up to 2 Megabaud with a good connection
No contract
$40.00 per month.
They're still building their network, so it is not available everywhere.

RE: Timer app for ipad

My iPod touch came with a clock that has a timer that works just like I want. Even if it shuts down, I still get an alarm.
I use this alarm function everyday! It's even replaced my alarm clocks, which I now only use as a backup. I love how you can quickly and easily set any number of alarms, including its' own snooze, and alarm sound type. One funny thing is I use the "cricket" alarm. One day in my car, the "cricket" alarm went off, but I couldn't locate my iPOD Touch to turn it off. It turned out, it was real crickets. :B
Quite surprised, there is no similar function in the iPAD. :h
