RE: another price question
HI,
If the dealer already reduced the price from a MSRP of 21,000 to only $16999, then he has already reduced the price to 80.9% of the MSRP. 75% of the MSRP is 15,750 and 65% of the MSRP is $13,650.
So if the dealer did not have the RV on sale, but was asking full MSRP, you would put in a offer of $13,650 and see if the dealer wants to sell that low. The dealer probably would say no way, as they might have paid nearly that much for the RV. The dealer needs to sell the RV someplace between 75% of MSRP and 100% (being ideal) to stay in business.
They put the unit on sale for two reasons. Try to bring in customers and then sell them on a higher prices model with more options, or to make a little on each unit, like RV wholesalers does. The third reason to put a unit on sale is to clean out some inventory at the end of the year, and pay off the loans required to stock the trailers over the winter.
You can not get it for 65% of MSRP unless you ask. So if you really want that unit, go in and ask. Be prepared to get turned down. They will probably say that they paid that much for it, ect.
But if you like the unit, like the deal, and everything else looks good, then go for it. Life is short, enjoy it.
Good Luck,
Fred.
another price question
I've read a ton of helpful posts here about price and negotiating.
Many say offer 25%-35% off the MSRP or the dealers price and go from there.
But if the dealer's price is $21k and their "close out price" is $17k do I still offer 25-35% off the 17k?
I have looked at tons of web-sites and his price is the cheapest I've found for this same model so I know he's at the low end already. So I can't say "Found it cheaper at xxx." The brand is also not sold at rvdirect or rv wholesalers to use that for bargaining.
We still plan on asking for a deep cycle battery and Equalizer in the deal somewhere too. When do we play this card?
Thanks
RE: Looking for a high end LITE TT to pull behind 1/2 ton pickup
We just bought our first travel trailer. It's a 2010 Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8315BSS that's 34 ft. long and tow it with a Silverado 1/2 ton pick up even though the weight police on this forum say my truck can't do it or if it does it'll need a tow truck to get it up mountains unless I want to grind it out in 1st gear. We've towed it over 1,000 miles this past month including up mountains and have had no problems. It's got a dry weight of 6,273 and a GVWR weight of 8,633 lbs. and tongue weight of 880 lbs. We bought it from RV Wholesalers in Lakeview, OH which is 635 miles from our home near Atlanta, GA.
Here's a web site that shows all the floor plans of the Rockwood Ultra Lite Series and their specifications, just click on the model number at the upper right.
http://rvdirect.com/models.asp?type=3&make=52&model=1654
We bought the 8315BSS because there's only 2 of us and we didn't need any bunks. Ours has 2 slides with one large bedroom and the rest is living space with a full width bathroom.
Check'em all out. We checked Jayco and Arctic Fox and many others before we decided on ours. Most all of the manufactures make some great trailers these days. It's just a matter of personal choice.
Good luck to you.
RE: Same manufacturer or not?
YUP! No doubt about it..... I also found out that Monaco Coach LLC is still producing them! We saw a 2010 at the RV show! Make and model in sig.
Another R-Vision vote. R-Vision does not have the most stellar reputation on this forum. However my 2006 unit has held up well. No warranty issues and only a few minor issues.
I camp regularly and travel all over the mid Atlantic and beyond.
When the time comes I would not hesitate to buy another R-Vision assuming they are producing a model that fits my needs. I'm glad to hear 2010 models are being produced and my orphan days are over.I found out real quick.... With R-vision, if you buy a baseline unit, then thats what you got. If you bought a mid line, than thats what you got. If you buy their premium line, then thats what you got. Every line has better quality the higher you go. It is also more $$$. I will tell you this.... I walked into a Trail Light by R-vision and turned around and walked out... It was not built to the same quality that the Trail Bay is. I have had no issues with anything that R-vision/ Monaco produced. I did have issues with 3rd party vendors that were rectified by those manufacturers directly. The unit we have is completely upgraded and has ALL options. EVERYTHING in this unit is different than the lower end units use. I was actually a little surprised when we first went to look at it. We purchased from a dealer 2 hrs away. I made him send me pictures of this unit before I even thought about getting in the truck to go to look at it. It was worth the drive! I saved almost $10,000 from RV wholesalers BEST price!
RE: laredo by keystone
The new ones have the valves inside now too, not in a docking station per say, but they are inside the cargo area now. They also went to one unified dump outlet now too. The better insulation is what caught me, not many mid-profiles are doing well - insulated rigs, they're usually R14 Roof and Floor. I've overlooked Crossroads before, didn't realize the Patriot Package came with so much. Now I just need to see one! There aren't ANY Crossroads dealers in AZ at all. The nearest one in CA, has no new inventory, same with one in Utah. I know about RV Wholesalers, but I still like to see a unit before I pull the trigger on anything.
RE: Camping World Or Tweetys
If I need something right now, I go to the local Camping World and expect to pay "convenience store" prices. If I want to pay less and can wait a little longer, I buy online at RV Wholesalers, PPL, or Tweety's.
RE: FLAG STAFF / ROCKWOOD
Thank you for the replies! If RVW as NOT SO FAR away ...I would more than likely deal with them....long drive from central Florida !!
Must be nice to not have to worry about saving money. We live below Atlanta, GA and I drove to RV Wholesalers in Ohio and purchased a Rockwood 8315BSS. It's a pretty long drive but I'd drive twice that far to save approx. $4,500 bucks and that's how much they beat the local dealer by and some by even more.
To put it in prospective if the average person makes $30 bucks an hour then it would take them 150 hours to make $4,500 on their regular job before taxes. And if a person was to take 24 hours to drive to Ohio from Central Florida and 24 hours to get back you still save 102 hours by doing so.
It took me 38 hours total and I didn't have to take time off from my job to do it. I went up on New Years Day, spent the night and picked the trailer up the next morning which was on Saturday and drove back home to GA by 10:00 PM that night. Subtract $72 for a motel room and about $275 for gas and I still saved $4,153.
Or you could have it delivered to your door for less than $1,500 bucks and you still save $3,000. They said they'd deliver it to Atlanta for $900 but I still went to pick it up.
RE: equalizer hitch
The E2 hitches have less sway control capability as it does not have the rotational component. Depending on where you are buying the E2, you could probably get the original version for not much more at RV wholesalers. For that size trailer, you will definitely want the traditional 1K version. I am actually running a 12K for my trailer which runs about 1K for hitch weight (dry was 760).
RE: Anti sway without a WD setup?
bsalgado,
I agree that travel trailers need sway control. As I read your account of the two instances of 'sway issue' I came away perplexed as to the fact that you waited THREE seconds, an eternity when things are happening, to respond to the trailer brakes. I would have thought that a milisecond would be too long. You did not indicate if you were level, going up hill or down, but hitting the trailer brakes AND max engine power (except going down) is twice the straightening effort. You indicated that you just kept the power amount the same. Also, as to the ambulance, does haveing its lights on eliminate buffeting. I don't see it that way, lights or not the buffeting is from the body of the vehicle not tiny little lights.
As to your comments about the Equalizer hitch. I also have one, 1200/12000 and it works as advertised. It also has drawbacks that I am not sure is present in other hitches like the Husky Centerline. In ten miles of towing I could easily tell the diffrence from towing with the dealer supplied chain type hitch with the add on sway bar. Those add on sway friction bars are almost useless. I have had the Equalizer in very blustry cross winds with truck passing upwind from me. Absolutely true tracking of the trailer. I was amazed.
However, having said all that, I doubt I would purchase another Equalizer. Yes, it works like it should but it also has some limitations. It requires a special ball, a special ball socket, the hitch head will not accommodate differing spring bar tension (many other hitches use the same head for all the differing spring bar tensions and to that end the hitch can be used behind many differnt types of tow vehicles and trailers). If I want to go to a 1400/14000 hitch I need a new hitch and bars, totally more expense. And, the 'L' brackets and constant tension is a routine (every time I park) little ritual in tightening.I was level when this happened. I say 3 seconds because by the time the truck completely cleared the front of my truck and I headed to the other lane was approximately 2 seconds. By the time I realized exactly what was about to happen I reached for the lever. It immediately came back into check but, it was definitively an eye opener. Things happen so fast that it is truly hard to keep level headed at that time! As far as the ambulance..... If he would have had his lights on, we would have seen him coming and could have moved over a bit. Rt 421 has a lot of rolling hills. The lights on or off do not amount to a hill of beans as to how much force he exerted when passing us, but they would have let us know that he was in an emergency situation and we could have moved over a bit. The breakdown lanes there are huge and we could have hugged 1/2 of it.
You mentioned the L brackets on the Equal-i-zer loosening. It has only happened to me once and that was after the first trip out with the hitch. They have not loosened up since. I am extremely pleased with this setup. The weight rating is something to be concerned about and having to change the entire assembly.... but if I need to get a different hitch for a different TT, then I would place my old hitch on Craigslist, just as I did with my old EZ Lift and get ALL of my $$$ back. I sold my EZ lift in 2 days. The guy brought cash, he picked it up in a Toyota Prius and drove off! My EZ Lift ball mounted right up to my Equal-i-zer and a thin wall socket tightened it down with no issues. If you ask RV wholesalers to mount the ball before they ship it, they will do it... for a small fee. To me, that is not a limitation. The "new" Equal-i-zer has redesigned L brackets with 2 bolts in them, so that is also not an issue.
RE: Considering 1st Hybrid
We just ordered the Shamrock 233 for the exact same reasons. I can't wait! I recommend RV Wholesalers to you for the prices I've seen. Those of you in the South, I recommend Peco Camping for your next purchase. It has been a great experience so far. No pressure at all! I do need a cover if anyone can recommend one. We've got pine trees!
RE: Cougar or Cruiser
I have a Cruiser 30SK and it is terrific. We like the 30SK floorplan because it provides two distinct areas that don't clash with each other. One area is the kitchen and the other is the couch/tv area. You are not trying to look past the kitchen while watching tv, and the opposing slides maximize the feel of openess.
Crossroads has also been great to work with. We bought from RV Wholesalers and would do it again. Don't expect too much from RVW's service department, however. Just make sure you know where the nearest "service center" is located. I dealt directly with Crossroads on a couple of warranty issues, and Crossroads made it easy.
I would definitely get the Patriot edition.
Good luck

RE: Need help with negotiation skills
When you find the TT that you would like to purchase, how do most of you go about it?
Get the local dealers best price and then call RVWholesalers.com in Ohio and see how many thousands of dollars they'll beat it by. After you do that then call RVDirect.com in NY and see what they’ll price it for. Then call RV Wholesalers back and tell them how much RV Direct is going to beat their price by and then RV Wholesalers will beat the pants of RV Direct by a pretty good margin. No need to call RV Direct back ‘cause they won't beat that price. Now all you have to do is decide if it's worth the $4,000 or $5,000 bucks that you'll save over your local dealers price to go pick the trailer up yourself. That was a no brainer for me I took the $4,500 bucks to the bank. My back up warranty is drawing interest as we speak.
Don't pay any attention to the nay sayers telling you that you won't get any warranty work done on it because you bought it from RV Wholesalers because that’s not true. But even if you couldn't a saving of $5,000 bucks will pay for a lot of repairs should you need it.
www.rvwholesalers.com
www.rvdirect.com Many of the brands that RVW sells RVDirect does not and vice versa. So getting quotes from both will only work on a few models like your Rockwood which they do both sell. For instance RVD sells Jayco and Hornet and RVW does not. RVW sells North Trail and Nomad and RVD does not.-Lee.

E2 hitch kit query
Several RV'ers have recommended that I look into the E2 brand before I buy my WD & Sway control hitch.
I would appreciate any input on the combo kit (Manufacturer Part # 94-00-1000) offered by RVW (RV Wholesalers) on their website;
http://www.rvwholesalers.com/catalog/e2-weight-distribution-with-2-point-sway-control-1000-10-000-lb-round-bar-14-5607.html
Also, your experience/input on the EAZ-LIFT W/DIST HITCH - 1000LB - ASSEMBLED KIT W/SWAY & BALL14-0133 KIT on the PPL website, http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/parts/rv-hitches/trailer-hitch-eaz-lift.htm
All the RV dealers in my area are pushing EAZ-Lift over the other brands....this could be due to first hand experience or perhaps driven by profit per sale.
Thanks, Pops
RE: Rockwood Roo 2306 ~ 2009 & 2010 Bed/couch
Shari,
The 2306 floor plan on Forest River's web site shows a walk-aroung queen bed that does not fold into a couch.
Food for thought:
1) We have a queen oriented side to side, which requires on person to climb over the other to get into / out of bed. DW has a small bladder (up and down a coule of times during the night), but I like to get up a couple of hours earlier than anyone else. We ended up with her on the inside and me climbing over in the morning, but it is a compromise.
2) TT beds are not necessarily the most comfortable places to sleep, unless you add a memory foam topper or something similar. Adding the creases / folds that a convertable will have does not help make the bed more comforatble
You can email for an internet price from RV Wholesalers, House of Camping (George Andrews Jr. is the owner and was competitive when we were shopping) or RV Direct.

RE: RV Wholesalers
I know, I know ... you asked about RV Wholesalers ...
But we bought from RV Direct ... and never had a problem with getting local service after the sale. Tried to get within $2500 from local dealers ... but they wouldn't come close.
Great experience with RV Direct ... and they never bombarded me with any emails either! VERY good to deal with ...
Now ... do they have the model you're looking for ??? ... :h

RE: RV Wholesalers
COuple of things: First, use the price that you can but if from RV wholesalers for plus the cost of shipping it to you to barter with your local dealer. In this market, a sell is a sell. I have found several dealers that are competitive these days but more and more are getting around to it. As for one dealer paying more it can have something to do with volume but otherwise the shipping may be the only reason. If you can get the deal close to home I would otherwise get the dal where you can.
RV Wholesalers
Hi-- need advice --we are looking at buying a 5th wheel thru
RV wholesalers.
Anyone have any dealings with them?
Good--bad
Thanks for any help

RE: Think I'm in love with this TT, Sprinter 310TBS
I don't see a 310TBS on the Sprinter floorplans page.
Is it the 310"K"BS? If so, (and you haven't already) you can get / check prices at RV Wholesalers.
