Buy the cheap small biscuits and put small holes in them using biscuit cutter or whatever you can find. Heat up oil over stove and drop biscuits in till lightly brown and turn. Cook up the holes too. Cover donuts in cinnammon/sugar mixture or powdered sugar.
Makes for a late night snack or morning treat for the kids.
My nieces loved helping to cut the holes in the biscuits.

Use to make those in girl scouts...you can also twist the dough and make them into "twister" donuts (longer without the hole)

When I was young (MANY, MANY YEARS AGO!!) My grandmother would make biscuit donuts for us often as a treat. We would cut out the hole with a lid from one of the old brown glass medicine bottles the pharmacies would put prescription cough syrup in and we would roll in sugar or pour powdered sugar icing over them. I think we loved the donut holes best! Thanks for the memory!

Biscuit Donuts have been a favorite of mine for years.....I make the hole simply by pulling the dough away at the center to make the hole.....of course you can't make Donut holes doing it my way but they sure are good.....
I use Fudge ready made cake frosting......btw....

Is there such a recipe for baking donuts instead of deep frying them? I've never liked cooking in oil, I always make such a mess! :-) I've always wondered!!!!

LGC-
I guess you could but then you would probably still have the biscuit flavor. It's always worth a try.

I second the idea of adding cake icing (chocolate is my preference) to the fried donuts. Can also add sprinkles if it's a really special occasion.

My kids used to take the canned biscuits and roll them out about 1/4" thick or less then cut them into 1" squares. They would bake real quick on a cookie sheet until slightly brown. They took each cookie sheet full and put in a brown paper bag with sugar and cinnamon and shook it. The three of them would eat the first bag full before the next cookie sheet was cooked. They loved them with a cold milk chaser.
