This question is not directly related to camping, but more to food in general. Does anyone know where you can find Pizzaburgers these days. When I was a child, my mom used to order these burgers from Schwanns that had cheese and a pizza sauce in between two thin hamburger patties. They were the best, but I cannot find them anywhere.

Oh my! You just brought back memories. When I was young, Mom made them for us. After I got divorced, Mom would bring over frozen Pizza burgers for my kids. Now that I am remarried, haven't even thought of it til now. My kids are all grown up now. But, I know how to make them since I used to help my Mom.
Just take chopped meat and make a hamburger a little less than 1/2 inch thick.
Pan brown them. After they are browned, and add a heaping tablespoon of sauce and top with Mozzarella and some grated cheese. Make some sauce or use Classico sauce add basil flakes, garlic(I use chopped garlic from the jar),a tablespoon of Olive Oil and Lots of Oregano to the sauce. Maybe around a tablespoon. I usually measure it by just a coating of Oregano to cover the top of the sauce in the pot.
Lay them out on a cookie sheet or large square pan lined with wax paper and freeze. Once the meat is frozen, wrap them individually in waxed paper (this keeps them from freezing together)and place in a zip lock bag. Put them back in the freezer. Take them with you when you go camping. You can just heat them in the Microwave or heat them in a covered fry pan(on low) until the cheese melts. Use a little Olive oil to coat the pan or a little water. I like a coating of Olive Oil. They are real good. Now, I will have to do them again. Let me know if you like my Mom's method. Toni

Thank you for the recipe. It sounds like those will be great, and by making and freezing them ahead of time, it will cut down on time at the campsite. I'm gonna make some this week for our trip next weekend. I'll let you know how they are.

Swatman Schwans still exists and comes to my home every 2 weeks and yupper they still have pizza burgers. Try the web site and see if you have a Schwan man in your neighborhood. You might even get it by mail. They have reworked them and they are not quite that greasy burger of yesteryear but the flavor is still pizza, item 404.

PS just for kicks pick up a Digiorno pizza and see who makes it.

Beckolette, thanks for the item number. Before posting this message, I had looked at Schwanns site several times and could never find them. With the item number you provided, I located them. Thank you very much.
